Well you don't need to get all defensive...Eurobricks has been running for what, 3+ years? You guys have an edge there in time. Plus this is the "new version" of my old forum, which was just as active and ran for about 6 months. ;-) i think you quoted the wrong guy here...in any case, i wouldn't go around EB saying your forum is more active than this one here. it just sounds arrogant - BM

All other new 2007 sets (including new theme)
Brick Miner replied to sam89's topic in General LEGO Discussion
:-D :-D :-D that probably didn't take much detective work did it X-D thanks, but it still looks too much like that aquasharks head. i don't see why LEGO didn't just use the old head :-| i mean, once you have a character archetype designed, why design the same one again ??? - BM -
All other new 2007 sets (including new theme)

at the risk of sounding like a skitzo*... im gonna post this. i've never seen this head before. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=3626bpb266 and BL doesn't connect it to any current fig. and it looks TOO MUCH like this AQUASHARKS head. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?M=aqu006 putting two-and-two together, could these new AQUARAIDERS be a revamp of the old AQUASHARKS ??? though, i doubt i would see the pieces first on BrickLink, before sets are even announced. *known to find relatations between two things that have no connection. - BM (ok, now here is the part where somebody tells me where that new head is actually from ;-) ) -
wow, i was at the SDCC and i didn't see these anywhere... or anyone with one. - BrickMiner

Do you have a second favorite? I didn't include forestman becuase they aren't originized like a medieval monarchry and they have forts, not castles. They are independant wild men, bad for a society according to Feudalism, etc. that doesn't seem like a very good reason for not including them in the poll :-/ so why wolfpack or dark forest. if you would have said that they are included in LEGOLAND then i can accept that.BTW, i can't believe dark forest is doing so well !!! yes, the minifigs rock... but well designed figs and sets only go so far with some people. i mean, they aren't classic... so. ;-) - BM

glow-in-the-dark color change ???
Brick Miner replied to Brick Miner's topic in General LEGO Discussion
the kings castle figs have been parted out on BrickLink. and i guess they are calling this new GITD color milky white. strange, as the old GITD color is more "milky" than the new transparent stuff *wacko* - BM EDIT: BL must be doing maintenance because now it doesn't say "milky white" :-| -
i hope these SK are keeping them MISB and not opening them... if so, the number of "holy grail" copies is diminishing at a rapid rate !!! and us collectors are going to be left paying infinite amounts of money !!! i mean, there are plenty of openned copies out there, don't horde the MISB !!! when i was bidding on a PERFECT MISB Fort LEGOredo, i got out bid twice by the same SK, on two different auctions !!! i guess he needed two prefect ones... i mean, he could have gotten a lesser one at a much cheaper price, because i would't have up'ed the bidding so high !!! :-D but i guess he didn't know that !!! - BM

incorrect. you are forgetting the asians, actually the south koreans. they are probably lurking in some korean language forums which you do not know about. the japanese fans are also numerous. i've seen many "japanesque" names on brickshelf...not sure how many are japanese-wannabes though. :-/ but judging from the sale of sets on ebay to these bidders i gotta say the population is fairly large. also, as i thought about it more, could it be the south korean buyer is actually a foreigner expatriate? usually those have a commanding salary so it is likely he/she has a huge bank account to afford those ridiculous prices. not really sure what i'm incorrect about *wacko* i don't think asians are buying belgian lego on belgian ebay... waaaaaay too expensive to send it up to Japan and you need to understand dutch or french if you want to know what's being offered... im not sure what you were incorrect over either... as i think both of you are right !!! id say there are a large number of AFOL who don't care about internet communities, and are just collectors... then there are the South Koreans 8-

cool... lets get you a new skin for your forum soon !!! BM

those topics seem very removed from the world of LEGO - BM

there are so many little nooks to the the pirate forum... its already hard for me to keep up with reading it, let alone posting in it. to me, this is already like i separate site. *wacko* i think having a common "community" forum for all of EB is good. i already feel like i don't know some of the new pirate fans :-/ - BM
-
ya, that is my problem with them... all my other figs are classic yellow. and to incorporate flesh tone just makes a weird mess. also, if you are going for an official LEGO look, this is not the way. as flesh tone = lisensed property, not original LEGO world. though, your figs do look awesome here *y* just don't mix them with classic ;-) - BM

you forgot to mention larger pirate sets... BSB, SES, and ITP can get very high... nearing 350-400 for MISB. that is almost 4 times retail price. smaller pirate sets... not so much.also i have noticed recenlty (within the past 3 months) that MIB (not sealed) Western sets are going for a tremendous amount *wacko* 45 USD for Sheirff's Lock up ??? i don't get that ??? from all i can tell its a fluke :-| - BM

that baseplate is just terrible. it looks so un-LEGOish to me. definitely needs more studs. i do commend you for attempting something on it though !!! well done. i find this plate is much friendlier as an imperial baseplate. and its huge too 8-

i got excited when i heard phes had created an islander MOC !!! i was hoping for the usual LEGO building style construction though :-( complete with digital backgrounds and the like. well taken photos and good action are a good subsitute though ;-) - BM

glow-in-the-dark color change ???
Brick Miner replied to Brick Miner's topic in General LEGO Discussion
ya, the under section (actual minifig) of the new ghost really stands out underneith this new GITD material. i think they should have made GITD torso, arms, hands and feet to match. now that would have been a cool ghost !!! let me point out (again) that the new material does glow like 10 times better than the old !!! - BM -
glow-in-the-dark color change ???
Brick Miner replied to Brick Miner's topic in General LEGO Discussion
i found these... and based on these two images of the ghost included in the new kings castle, it look to me like this is the "new" GITD material. it looks almost identical to the scarcrow head material. the old shroud was never that transparent. if anyone has further evidence suggesting one or the other regarding these ghost shrouds please add your comments !!! - BM -
i have a question about the glow-in-the dark ghost shroud from this set... does any one have an older ghost shroud they could compare this new one (from this set) to ??? i am having some GITD issues... please take some time to read my thread here. and respond if you can help !!! thanks in advance !!! BrickMiner EDIT: thanks to eveyone's comments regarding my concern. all was answered in the other thread !!!

yes, but those people could never sell them. in a case like that, very few would ever enter the market place... in all reality... the price is determine by how many are entering the market, not how many are in existant. if 500 copies exist of 6080 and 6074 each, but all the owners aren't willing to part with them, that means only a few could enter the market in a year (maybe two or three a year)... and that would drive the price up. especially if a collector has been searching for a pristine MISB (that is no flaws). an item of that rarity may only enter the market place once ever 2-3 years. its simple as supply and demand... these sets wouldn't realize these prices if more copies enter the market. but they do, so that must mean the supply isn't there. - BM

All other new 2007 sets (including new theme)
Brick Miner replied to sam89's topic in General LEGO Discussion
sounds very accuarate to me. i would speculate the same...and yes, i think aquazone was a quality theme yoda :-) -
thanks guys :-$ phes, khorne... your both right... artistically speaking the background colors are far too saturated and draw the eye attention away from the forground (and presumably, more important) elements. not a good thing... i might go back to it, though i already stuggled a little with it a bunch. however, i did add a lot of dust bowls at the feet of the calvary... so that created some of the washed out look... and that was on purpose. BTW, a new avatar change is coming soon !!! - BM

All other new 2007 sets (including new theme)
Brick Miner replied to sam89's topic in General LEGO Discussion
i think the aquaraiders (from aquazone) were pretty well designed. just need some expansion, like structures, not just vehicles.i do agree that the aquazone and space themes are very similar in content... both futuristic sci-fi settings, each theme exploring unknown worlds. one exploring space and one theme exploring the depths of the ocean. BTW, where does the current (if any) aquazone disscussion take place here on EB... should be space, IMO. - BM -
All other new 2007 sets (including new theme)
Brick Miner replied to sam89's topic in General LEGO Discussion
wow, i got excited when i read the name "aqua raiders." thinking it would be an extension of the aquazone theme... but after reading the titles sounds more like a present day divers set (with minimal fantasy, large animinals, etc...). i hope im wrong... i'd love to see the sci-fi aquazone theme resurface ;-) X-D those are the only sets that have me curious - BM -
glow-in-the-dark color change ???
Brick Miner replied to Brick Miner's topic in General LEGO Discussion
great info jinjon !!! thanks so much *y* so that brings me back to my question... does anyone know if the ghost shrouds were produced in this "darker" GITD material ??? or maybe i'll have to wait to see the new run on the kings castle. - BM -
glow-in-the-dark color change ???
Brick Miner replied to Brick Miner's topic in General LEGO Discussion
hmmmm... so LEGO has been known to use a different plastic, for just one piece ??? that seems odd to me. but that is a great point about the new king's castle... i guess that would set will be the true revealer if the switch is for all GITD pieces or just the scarcrow. thanks !!! BM
