well, it is a old west train :-P X-D - BrickMiner -
quicksand would be a really cool set... but to make it functional seems impossible in minifig scale :-/ - BrickMiner

What does Lego consider "medium grey"?
Brick Miner replied to Starwars4J's topic in General LEGO Discussion
from what i can gather, the 9V tracks listed as dark gray are "old dark gray", as opposed to dark stone gray (or dark blurish gray according to BL). and they are the only "old gray" still available on lego.com... i think ??? actually i hope, cause i ordered these "dark gray tracks" last week 8-| - BrickMiner -
LDD-Lego Digital Designer Problem
Brick Miner replied to Skinny Boy's topic in General LEGO Discussion
what i don't like about the pick-a-brick so far (note: i haven't recieved my order yet) is that when you add your PaB selections to your lego.com shopping cart, you loose the information on what PaB bag contains. your lego.com shopping cart doesn't list the individual elements of the bag, and almost treats the PaB as a separate site *wacko* even the order conformation email that you recieve after placing the order doesn't list the contents of the PaB ??? so, im left saving the webpage to my desktop until the order arrives |-/ i don't know how else to compare what was ordered to what is recieved ??? if i find time, i'll make a suggestion to lego.com ;-) anyone else have a similar experience ??? - Brick Miner -
and then give the firemen some skyscrapers to save ;-) would love to see towers done in minifig scale.other than that, i mostly want to see old themes revisited and expanded. - BrickMiner

almost all the prototypes in this thread are better that the actual releases... especially the AR. id say natlite's "price point" observation is pretty close in most cases... it seems to even apply to the AR base. - BrickMiner

im not really a castle fan... but this has caught my attention !!! what were you tryng to cover up with photoshop though ??? - BrickMiner

the name "brick city" seems very urban to me :-D doesn't quite fit the genre, it's clever though. one thing this display makes me realize is that the western theme needs a lot of space for its setups to look justified... i mean, to be honest, most of the frontier was wide open ranges, and this display looks too crowed to portray the old west feel. but again, we have to work with what building space we have ;-) each individual element look very good though, i like the open train station... a "must-have" MOC for a western town. but the pith hat does seem out of place ??? i wonder if the builder was attempting to intrepret somthing else with the piece ??? - BrickMiner

i think pioneers (including a new bonnet piece) are one of the biggest elements to old west culture... they should definitely be added to your minifigures list ;-) plus they would give us some female options *sweet* - BrickMiner

yes, this is one idea i wanted to explore in my MOC aswell... an all-new sub-theme to WW based on 1800's trains, complete with its own small, medium, and large sets. a mining car with mine would also fit well.actually, in reguards to LEGO revisiting the WW theme... this would be an excellent approach. because it really wouldn't have to relate much to WW, more just focused on 1800's trains, with a few WW elements. this would be a great return to the WW for LEGO. this line could be a sub-theme of train rather than WW, i see that as a more probable option for LEGO. i agree... they really killed a lot of possiblities here... the trading post is about the only thing i could think of yet to explore. i would so much rather have a buffalo over a cow ;-) it would really be a neat mold. buffalo are beautiful creatures.- BrickMiner

:-D :-D :-D love it !!! be sure to add "pony express/post office" to your master list ;-) - BrickMiner

well... this is pretty much the story of my MOCing :-D :-D :-D i have outlined a couple "sets" that i need to fill my western world. this is the order i plan to finish them... 1) Gunslingers Saloon 6758 2) Ghost Town's Haunted Pass 6776 3) Legorego Train Station 6789 (including a 6 car train) 4) Boulder Passage 6784 (this is a hollowed out canyon that the steam train passes through) (this is also a companion set to 6789)(and serves as the bandit's version of a train set ;-) ) 5) Water Tower Terror 6738 (return to Ghost Town) 6) Creepy Creature Camp 6714 (another Ghost Town set) 7) Frontier Outpost 6742 (a calvary lookout tower to accompany fort LEGOredo) 8) Trading Post 6742 (a meeting place where calvary, cowboys, and indians meet to do business)(this will be a companion set to 6741, and resemble a western fort) 9) Stage Coach Hold Up 6728 (also includes a robbing bandit to add some playability to an otherwise boring set ;-) ) 10) Precarious Bridge 6749 (last in the Ghost Town series) -------------------------------------------------- those are the solid ideas i have come up with... but there are a lot of possibilities, i just don't see LEGO doing some of them... like a cemetery or chapel because they are to religious specific. a pony express would be very cool... complete with robbers attempting to halt delivery of there warrants to other towns. i wish i could find a LEGOesque way of doing saddle bags |-/ then i would just MOC the idea myself :-D i would also (similar to castle fans) love to see some normal folk. pioneers would be great to fill LEGOredo and make the town seem more happening... a bonnet mold would be a good start in that department. -------------------------------------------------- hopefully Dusty has a long venture ahead !!! - BrickMiner

Why do you like what you do ???
Brick Miner replied to Brick Miner's topic in General LEGO Discussion
these are good replies, in fact, sting mentioned one influence that i hadn't considered... education is also a factor for interest.however, for me, my education has followed my my interests, rather than my interests following my education. but they kind of go hand-in-hand, as one can influence the other very easily. i can remember doing several "independant studies" in high school because of this. - BrickMiner -
the modules idea is ok... but i like kahgarak/sting's concept the best so far...to make the scrappers interesting for kids, just make one in the fire-fighting line... that would be sufficient enough for me *y* *y* *y*

a collage of prefect features, well, that makes sense... however, it seems that when i watched the video the first time, i saw them appling and introducing features that were unnatural altogether.for some reason, when i watch it a second time, it looses that effect. yes, i think that was my question, "why do we find these characteristics beautiful? if they aren't naturally occuring." i hope i worded that correctly ;-) you know, i never would have thought that girl in the billboard was unnatural until i saw this video. that is why it was so enlightening. the finished "product" is much more beatiful than the starting model... but i still think she was still pretty without the photoshop ;-) - BrickMiner

im pretty sure, if those designs would have made it into production, they would have "finished" the box art, and taken better photos of the sets. just like the models, the box art we see here is also preliminary. those dull backgrounds would have been changed.- BrickMiner

Pic Review: Aqua Raiders 7771 Angler Ambush
Brick Miner replied to bdd's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
im actually a little disappointed based on the images in this review... the box art made the set (and angler) look much cooler |-/ i don't like that the two big teeth glow, and the smaller teeth do not... seems inconsistant. i would have made all the teeth non-glow, and made the bacteria filled blub on his tentical glow-in-the-dark. that would have been cool. - BrickMiner -
there is a better collage, i just couldn't find it on peeron, it might be there... im just not familar with the site too much... nonetheless, i agree... pirates and castle had some just-plain-awesome scenes !!!i think the imperials vs. the pirates were the best collages ever (1992 version). islanders in 94 was good too, and i remember a wolfpack one that was just outragous !!! -------------------------------------------------- sorry, im so off-topic with this... i've just not seen a discussion on the catalog change before ;-) and im excited to get this off my chest !!! ;-) - BrickMiner

ah, i didn't have time to comprehend your post the first time i read it, sting... but now that i have more time, i know exactly what you are talking about.... and yes, i couldn't agree more...those set collage images were so cool, and each theme had one !!! i remember flipping through the catalogs and doing a "where's waldo" kind of thing with the detailed imagery. i even enjoyed the catalog images to themes i didn't collect, like town. some of those racer displays were really involved. then in 97 we got individual set photos and no kind of massive awe-inspiring collage... really a let down. those pirate and castle displays were really inspiring... at least i got a couple WW collage image from 96 (two that i know of). wild west catalog collage image - BrickMiner
