ok, i thought about this some more, and now it's not making any sense :'-( if it is true, that the lights only run at full capacity when the speed regulator is pushed to the maximum (9 volts), then LEGO EXPRESS sets 4534 and 4535 don't make much sense. those trains are so light weight that there is no way one could push the speed regulator all the way. that means the light would never run at full ??? i bet those trains run best at about 1/8 (for 4534) or 1/4 (for 4535) of the speed regulators full capacity... that means the light would only glow at 1/8 to 1/4 its capacity. am i understanding this correctly ??? why would LEGO make a set like that... it seems to me that you would always want the light at full ??? -------------------------------------------------- this sounds promising... though im not familiar with this "switch" element ???- BrickMiner

that is very kind of you X-D

hmmm... well, this is interesting. so, it sounds like if i have the speed regulator only cranked up a quarter the way, the micromotor would only spin at a quarter of 33 RPM (approximatley 8 RPM). am i understanding this correctly ??? if this is true, it could actually work in my favor *sweet* - BrickMiner

that is good news !!! so it sounds like we share an interest in the headhuntering sub-theme, hu ??? - BrickMiner

i always thought the hole was just to break up the monotony of color/texture on the rather large head piece. and the hole was made the size of a plume pin, just for SYSTEM sake :-D also, i know this is inaccurate, but the single hole reminds me of a female bindi mark from the same culture. im not sure what to make of that connection though :'-( or the hole could represent a jewel... - BrickMiner

with the long list of WW MOCs i've got lined up... there probably wont be any time for finalizing my islanders.maybe one day you'll get luck phes, and i'll loose interest in WW MOCing :-P :-D - BrickMiner
-
your possibly right alex... actually your right on !!!a WW train (with passenger and frieght depot) is what im currently working on, but it probably wont be my next published MOC :-/ i've got a stage coach that will probably surface here on EB sometime in february... the train system will hopefully finish up next summer 8-

X-D well, it wasn't me, as i just added my vote today X-O the islanders were so great for so many reasons, i just wish they got the attention they deserved. honestly, im a little surprised we don't see more islander interest... building moai from LEGOs is quite a rewarding and fun task... plus the color scheme LEGO gave the islanders is great to work with. the red really pops against the black and yellow in the minifigs. the minifigs were great (not the best, but certainly not the worst), there only needs to be more variety (but this can be said for most themes anyway). my personal belief is that the islanders are pretty unrealistic (especially when placed in the realm of a pirate world), and this keeps them from being explored in MOCs by AFOL. i favor artistic merits over realism though... and prefer a little fantasy in my LEGO themes. therefore, i am unaffected by the unrealistic presentation of the south pacific islander. i am happy to see the majority of voters "love" the sub-theme... but like phes, i have to ask, "who is it ???" i certainly don't see this appriciation reflected here at EB :'-( (if it weren't for my current facination with the gun-totting bandits of the western frontier, i would certainly be involved in a islander revival ;-) ) - BrickMiner

i get the same... but its for the best. if my family tried to get me LEGOs nowadays, id probably end up with something like 4+ juniors :-D i miss the exciting days of a 6280 or 6769 for christmas *wub* - BrickMiner

:-D i guess not, if im mistaking LEGO for clip art :-D :-D :-D - BrickMiner

ahhhh, so it is !!! 2001 advent calendar well, i guess that works too... all this time, i thought it was some random clip art :-| :-D - BrickMiner

wow, i can't believe i almost miss this !!! this is some impressive work... the street scene is fantastic (my favorite), and i love the cabinet's details in the interior scene (and i love those two big RARE yellow shutters). i agree with syedow, you seem to have a great knack for color coordination and overall aesthetic pleasantness. there is not one area that feels "neglected". and "big gray wall syndrome" is as far from your castle MOC as can be. im not sure how you do it... congrats !!! though i love the castle, the battle scene is my least favorite. though, this is probably just personal preference (i've not seen too many battle scenes i do like). have you ever tried to build stand-alone "sets" (i.e. not scenes). id love to see you try a LEGO-ish building style, as it has my favor. i haven't seen any of the other entries, but i can't imagine they could be much better than these !!! - BrickMiner

i would have expected multiple trains (on one loop or track system) to run from one train speed regulator, as technically it is only 1 output. i find it simpler to think of the track as being powered (not each individual train). im more worried about "splitting" the power.but this gives me a good idea on how much power the train speed regulators can actually produce !!! with my current set up i only have 1 six car train, and i can't even get the train speed regulator dial more than a quarter of the way up before the train looks like its gonna derail !!! i figured there was some power behind it ;-) -------------------------------------------------- the only information i have gotten so far, that i don't like, is that the technic motors (large, mini, and micro) are velocity sensitive... for my purposes, i was hoping they were just "on" or "off" as if plugged into a batter box. oh well, my MOC will still work *sweet* thanks to everyone !!! - BrickMiner
-
well taltos... you were the member i was looking for !!! i can't believe even the lights are velocity sensitive !?!?!? i guess my "on" or "off" theory was wrong. thanks for the info, now to start buying some of those expensive motors ;-) - BrickMiner

i think jipay did this one...next year we'll have to get the LEGO santa up there ;-) or maybe this would be nice... 10068. if we're all around next year, just ask me jipay... we should be able to make it happen *sweet* - BrickMiner

thanks brickster *y* ok, so you powered a light and a track from one speed regulator. these seems very similar to what i am looking to do. nice. and thanks for doing a little research on my behalf... i've not heard of this "Lego Train Depot". i wonder if this is a message board, or just an online reference site ??? id like to do some additional searching for answers to more specific questions, i just wasn't sure where to look ;-) -------------------------------------------------- my next logical question is a little more specific... i wonder if the train speed regulator would control the amount of "speed" the micro motor spins at ??? however, this probably has more to do with the receiving unit, than the train speed regulator itself. for example, the light unit that brickster mentioned probably doesn't allow bright to brighter variance... once it receives power, its just "on". it is possible the micro motor is limited to the same "on" or "off" positions. in a similar case, has anyone tried the technic 9V motor 5x4x2,1/3 or technic 9V mini motor with the train speed regulator. all three motors (large, mini, and micro) probably run similarly when powered by the train speed regulator. lets shed some light on this ;-) thanks - BrickMiner

i hope someone, who has experience with the 9 volt system, can share some knowledge :'-) !!! because i have a question that could save me some cash... can 9V system power be "split" from one source to two different outlets ??? for example, i want to power both, a set of train track contacts (to run the train), AND a micro motor from one power source (in this case, the train speed regulator). is this physically possible, or will this cause a short-circuit, or worse ??? it seems possible, using a pair of electrical wire bricks (and attaching them to the top of the train track contacts, where they attach to the speed regulator), but because im a novice about the 9V system, i have no idea what would happen :'-( !!! any feedback would be greatly appreciated !!! thanks - BrickMiner

oh, i see the cut out now... thanks !!!- BrickMiner

Introduce yourself... again!

ya, i saw that too... it seems like a strange mix of elements in that image... there is also a UFO beck/body piece on the skeleton torso *wacko* i wonder if only skeleton's will be able to ride the skeleton horses, or if "normal" fig legs can fit over the saddle too ??? - BrickMiner

im not sure if i should say "good-bye" or "welcome" ;-) :-D anyway, have fun... see you when you get back !!! - BrickMiner

ok, that sounds like a reasonable prediction ;-) hmmm... really there were only 6 years between the original released WW series and the legends (1996-2002, right ???). so by those indicators we could possibly see another "legends" type re-release in 2008 (since LEGO feels like 6 years is enough time between releases). 1 year from now, i doubt it,... but i never would have imagined the first legends series :-D i would much rather have all new material, we still need a vulture and a bonnet mold ;-) - BrickMiner
