yes KD, i wish i would have said what i said, i seem to have killed the momentum on this thread :'-( - BM

is it ??? really. i didn't get that at all from the pic at all. interesting natelite...if it is supposed to be underground, then retract my statement about it not looking "closed". i see how that would be impossible. however, if it is supposed to be underground, also retract my statement about this being a well conceptualized set. because of the limitations of underground building that we are talking about, conceiving an underground set is just plain silly for a LEGO set. a mining playset doesn't have to be underground, again i call back to 6761 ;-) i really really get the feeling of an action figure type playset if it is supposed to be underground. i still think a LEGO set should be a free-standing model as well as a playset. - BM

thats a good point... furthermore, i think we will close this thread, as uniquebuilder's question has been answered. and don't worry, it will be made clear when (and how) you will go about getting/acheiving your theme flag when they are ready. this should be fun... i'll have a lot of fun making them, and sporting a WW flag for sure :-P - BM

hmmm... now i don't keep up on SW talk... but i would assume those fans want more playsets, as opposed to vehicles. is that correct ??? for example, the batman line could have benefited from more "playsets" and less vehicles. from this stand point... yes, a playset is desperately needed for those two themes.in anycase, i do think playsets are what we need for any theme. for example, bandit's secret hideout 6761 was a great playset, but it also came together as a well executed model. again i think there is a balance, and im not seeing it in this set. yes, i love the concept of the set. i think that is great (perfect ???) !!!-------------------------------------------------- and hinckley... i may have to take you up on a full mine set, that looks like a mine, has playability, and is a finished model, all-in-one. of course it will be in the great theme of WW :-P im pretty confident it can be done will a reasonable (LEGO-like) piece count. - BM

my major grip with this set is that it looks more like a "playset" rather than a model. it looks like something hasbro would produce for its action figures. i remember when the adventurers came out, and i thought the same thing about pharaoh

ok, this sounds like a go... all right then, i'll continue making each theme flag the size and proportion of the country flag. for now, im just going to create theme flags... and not sub-theme. so for now, don't ask for a "ice planet 2002" or "adventurers dino island" tag... you will just get "space" or "adventurers" respectively ;-) - BM

not sure if anyone else is looking for filler options, but while messing with some pieces, i found that this piece fits perfect over the skeletal horse back (putting two plates underneath first). the lip is at the same angel as the arch of the back. its an interesting fit, but im not sure what it could be used for. it would be too wide as a filler. it kinda looks like a saddle if you try it in black with two black plates underneath... but its an dysfunctional one :-D perhaps if you are attaching it to a wagon using this hitching or this hitching, it could be a useful technique. - BM

there are far too many official minifigs that i like to narrow it down to one. i love the holiday train rider with red shirt and classic space logo, the black/red/green shirted WW bandits, mike from the adventurers, medium blue sweatered hermione (for town purposes, for course), the security guards from world city, the police chief from world city, the WW calvary soldier, the red imperial guard solider, brown vested pirate/merchant (6277), world city jailbreaker (i love orange too), and the forest woman all come to mind first. however, if we are counting customs, i am fairly bias to my saloon girl and ghost miner :-P - BrickMiner

that's actually a good story iz. good luck with your restaurant *sweet* i like where you got your name... its historically inspired ;-) - Brick Miner

ya, i like the blue BG better too... though, if we are seriously doing these, i'll want a better scan of the space logo... looking at the three it looks out of place, because of the jpeg compression around the planet. - BM

i actually had a notion to PM you and ask you to post in this thread... i was wondering about your name. so why isn't it "iamdead" ???-------------------------------------------------- *y* *y* *y* - BrickMiner

i did these so far... i would want each tag to be the same size... and possible (ideally) the same size as the country flags... but i think that might be a little small. the ones shown here are "enlarge to show texture" :-D :-P - BM

sure its a deal, if the buyer actually gets what he paid for. the seller only has 6 feedback, has changed his screen name at least once, and has 3 negative feedback !!! there is no way i would have bid even 10 USD on this auction :-P to me this looks like a big rip-off, unless the buyer lives in RI and arranged a COD. - BrickMiner

being a visual kinda guy... i supported this idea in the past. i think it would be cool to tag users to themes. and since EB is the coming together of themes, it makes sense for this website. but i think we, who have discussed it in the past, are kinda "over it" really. i mean, we discussed it, and nothing came of it... it just kinda blew away in time. i know that i no longer feel strongly about it. but if the general consense between all is *y* , as the GA, i am willing to make the tags. - BM

you know what... scratch what i said. as we have talked about before, if LEGO were to release a new WW theme, it would most-likely be much different than the 1996-1997 line. so, even in light of new sets, i could still continue MOCing and "fill out" the old theme. now that i have thought about it some more, i don't think it would effect my MOCing that much.and in fact, i could even incorporate some of the new elements into the 1996 styled line. that is probably how i would handle a 2008 WW release ;-) -------------------------------------------------- i did do some more thinking on the building "climate" we currently have for the WW theme. it seems to me that LEGO introduced enough sets in 96-97 to spark creative thinking. yet we weren't given so many sets that it watered down the customizable aspect of the line. i like that. for example, if LEGO would have continued the line and filled it out more, we would have less things to MOC :-D and that wouldn't have been as fun from the building perspective, but it would have been more fun from the collecting perspective. and both are excellent aspects to the hobby *y* i do realize that you like story telling B... and i like the connection you made to childhood. it makes a lot of sense. thanks for sharing that *y* however, i think for me, the WW line is letting me be the toy producer. and that's pretty cool. i can conceptualize and build sets, like i am working on the creative developing team. that is why you see my MOCs follow the strict rules of SYSTEM techniques and age appropriateness. to sum it up, i like pretending that i am LEGO :-D and i wouldn't want LEGO to take that away from me ;-) -------------------------------------------------- yes it is hard work, but isn't it worth the reward ??? i love what you have done here so far, and i think it shows a lot of dedication to your work... its admirable, really.- BM

hmmm... what could you mean by "package" these sets ??? for resale, or just fun for yourself ??? intriguing ;-) this post has me curious of "It gives me another thought as well", as well :-P - Brick Miner -

well, there are two way to interpret the thread. new ideas for WW sets (... that i want LEGO to release) OR new ideas for WW sets (... that we can build).im actually having a lot of fun "filling out" the WW theme. if LEGO were to release, tomorrow, a saloon, stage coach, train, ghost town, post office, etc... it would excite me, and at the same time, disappoint me. within one week of the first release of these new sets, i would have them all. then they would sit in my collection collecting dust. and i would be far less interested in creating WW MOCs, if there was already an official set of it... for example, i can't even imagine building a bank MOC for LEGOREDO... because we already have a great one in gold city junction. so why build a saloon for LEGOEREDO if LEGO released a great one in this new line. personally, im getting so much more out of the theme, by interpretting this thread as, "new ideas for WW sets that we can build." this is one reason i don't care for playmoblie... LEGO isn't just a set-it-up kind of toy. we can conceptualize new sets, and actually build them. don't get me wrong, i would love some new elements for the WW, though. vulture, bonnet, etc... and if LEGO released more WW sets, i wouldn't object... but i think there is a part of me that would be disappointed :-$ - Brick Miner

:-D well, i was using that as an "extreme" case. i didin't quite know how to express what i wanted to write without an example. i definitely didn't mean your stable and sign was that out of place ;-) anyway, it is a small part, of an overall great MOC. i like it, just had some 2 cents to throw your way :-P - Brick Miner
-
sure, but visually it doesn't seem to flow well... i think you would want the signage to represent the feeling of the set. iconography is a very strong tool. by making the icon of the building a normal horse, it gives us conflicting "feelings" about what we are seeing, visually.here would be an extreme example of the same principle: it would be like being seeing a haunted house in a movie... and then have a bright colorful painting of a rainbow and meadow hanging above the fireplace. i mean, sure you could say "well the painting is there from the previous owners" but it would still seem out of place in the movie. i would, at least, expect some cobwebs covering the sign, or maybe it would be tilted from age. something to cue us to spooky. - BM

to be honest... there is a part of me that doesn't want the return of the WW theme. i have never expressed interest in this, and would actually never tell LEGO i wanted it to come back. confused ??? well, what fun would MOCing a saloon be, if LEGO already gave us one ??? and likewise, with a stagecoach, etc... the only set i would really like to see is a "hobby" or "factory" steam engine... complete with all the new parts necessary to make a real steam engine. large rear wheels, pistons, etc... then i could convert it to SYSTEM, and make it fit with the old 1996 theme. -------------------------------------------------- so why ask for LEGO to make these sets ??? lets make them ourselves ;-) i think this is one of the major reason why i like this theme, there are a lot of MOC potential, and very little of it covered by official sets. - BrickMiner EDIT: oops !!! i forgot to comment on your ambush set, piranha !!! i really like the concept, and i think the adaptation of the dynamite and technic spring into a boulder set is perfect... its actually one of the features that is going to appear in BOULDER PASSAGE 6784. i do have one comment (suggestion ???) about your characters... i think if you want your MOC/set ideas to feel like official LEGO sets, that you want to tell as much of the characters story that you can by their looks alone. LEGO was very good a visually developing their WW characters. each has a lot of personality, and furthermore, each one is very unique. but very little was written about each one (if anything). so most of the story that is told to us is through their looks. so my suggestion would be to try to write story that can be expressed through the character

i love that you used an official set as reference... and switched the colors and setting. its an all new set !!! i really like this one, color scheme is good. though i think it could benefit from one more accent color. i like the red in the wagon... maybe use that in the building ??? i do have a few things i don't like.... but you know what, they aren't your fault ;-) i don't like that LEGO designed the skeletal horses to have a "cut-out" of only a brick high... while the standard horses have 1 brick and 1 plate |-/ this makes the saddles non-transferable. the saddle sits too high on the skeletal horse's back. there is just too much gap (1 plate distance). the other thing is obviously the long arms of the skeletons. i think using the bent arm might look better. for my ghost town settings, im using the old skeleton bodies, with the new heads. i like the rotating arms. it adds some fun. i like that you added a bandana to one of the skeletons, it's simple, yet i hadn't thought of it !!! however, again, i love the concept of taking a traditional/official LEGO set and putting it in a new setting. very nice idea, B *y* and i think you pulled it off well. i do think it seems a little strange that a normal horse appears in the sign, but skeletal horses are in the set ??? however, i like your custom sticker... maybe just not for this set :-/ maybe,... not sure yet... - Brick Miner

ah, thanks for the link SW4J !!! i see, the "3" referes to the number of unique sellers... but only amazon's are priced at $120. the other two sellers have $190. - Brick Miner

how long will this price remain, do you think ??? is this USA ??? i've never ordered from amazon before, but this seems like the time. can anyone provide a link ??? - Brick Miner
