honestly B... that did the trick. the MOCs looks 10-20 times better. and im not just saying that. one thing i have noticed about this hobby is that a set can give off so many mixed signals (this is much different than other 2D art based hobbies of mine). how a set is perceived on the box, is much different than in hand. likewise, an MOC can look 1000 different ways on screen, depending on the quality of the images. personally, this is one reason i stress that presentation in MOCs. i know i feel that all of my MOCs look better in real life. i know this may sound silly, but i wish i could do them justice on screen. in any case, the MOC is much improved *y* but im missing a little of "the special brickster touch"... a full story to go along ;-) - BM

Alex Trebeck... weren't you being jeopardy, with your "what is..." answer ??? :-P - BM EDIT: i just realized none of that probably made sense... i went back and re-read your post... i though you wrote, "what is the healing brush" trying to be funny, like in jeopardy. :-D :-D :-D my bad :-$

im not sure im gathering that either from the article, KD. unless, you mean that LEGO seems to be more interested in licensing from lucas than creating there own series (aka adventurers)... perhaps you mean it is not likely to get another WW theme, until lucas makes a western ??? :-D - BM

i think that because you are adding digital backgrounds, it shows that you are, at least somewhat, concerned about presentation. i think this expression opens up a whole another realm of judging criteria, and consequently criticisms.i think, if you didn't digitally edit your photos, you wouldn't get the feedback on presentation, respectively. -------------------------------------------------- BTW, i really like this shot... it looks a lot "beefier" and more complete. before the coach was looking a little skeletal :-D and that should have worked, but for some reason i didn't like that feeling. - BM

that would be the one, alex ;-) - BM

yes, all orders are purged from their system after 6 months.

i like the technique of using the 1x2 plate with bar on the top of the windows... i actually used this technique (replacing the arch, as you suggested) on my "stage coach hold-up" re-design. it really makes the windows look raised, and is a prefect solution for a coach of this time period. im a bit surprised you didn't use the skeleton horses. i would think this would be a golden opportunity for them. im also surprised you used both reddish-brown and classic-brown in one MOC. i think it goes without saying that i don't like this ;-) as dillon said, the flash really hurts the presentation... but i did notice you used a copy/paste (or a drag tool) to create tracks behind the wheels. that's a pretty nice touch *y* - BrickMiner

i prefer the term "American Indians." i think that would be more correct than "Red Indians" :-X and i do agree, id rather see indians than confederates. but since this is not really a WW MOC and not really a civil war MOC, who is the correct enemy, hussar ??? - BM

this is hilarious :-D im sure i have done it.-------------------------------------------------- but this is even more hilarious :-D :-D :-D yes, if you're concerned about quality, they're not the ones to purchase from. if you want a great selection of rare and abused pieces then they are fine. the problem with feedback on BL is that you don't want to limit your buying options in the future by giving negative feedback. for example, i have received many orders where pieces where in a condition i thought were not worthy of resell, and/or were not appropriately listed, and i felt deserved negative or at least neutral feedback. i have had a few 40-60 dollar orders where all pieces were unusable (with sellers other than TBB). however, i knew that if i gave negative feedback, then that would ultimately result in me being banned from that store. and while that seems fine at the time, there is always that lingering fear that i may have to use them again, if the pieces im looking for aren't available anywhere else. because im a sucker for really rare pieces, i sometimes have to buy from whoever lists the piece, and in whatever condition i can get it. for example, im always looking for 1x16 old brown bricks... its a piece i will take in nearly any condition. if TBB lists this piece i may buy it. though, if this is read by TBB i could get banned anyway, oops :-D you know, this brings up a good point, i've been banned from giving positive feedback before. imagine that. and since im already banned, im gonna go ahead and say the name of the store, "CHARLEY CHOPPERS" in the UK. i left positive feedback, and wrote "bricks were in good enough condition, thanks !!!" and they felt that was enough to ban me from their store, what the hell ??? my advice, be super careful on how you word things to sellers. and especially how you word your feedback, afterall its there forever. it cannot be undone. -------------------------------------------------- in any case, i keep a separate list of "excellent sellers" "good sellers" "neutral sellers" and "bad sellers." that way, when i go to find the pieces im looking for i can always check to see if i have had good experience with the seller or not. and in most cases, i will pay a little more if it means the seller is in the "excellent" bracket over the "good bracket." generally, if i put a store in the "bad sellers" list, i never buy from them again. -------------------------------------------------- you know, in contrast to TBB, E-Bricks (formely, TradeExpress) offers some decent used pieces (and E-Bricks, if you are reading this... i mean decent in a good way !!!!!!!!!!!!!!) when i am looking for some good used pieces i usually turn to them first. - BM

skeleton design discussion (new and old)...
Brick Miner replied to Brick Miner's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
yes, that does make sense, yoda.though, SW4J has a great image here... i love the way that old skeleton is dragging. thanks for sharing that 4J. that position is much how i would expect a reanimated skeleton to be. so, personally, i would use the old over the new in either case.there is somthing unhuman (or at least un-minifig, as ravensdorn pointed out) about the movment of the old skeletons. things that are less like us, and less predicatble (like the movement of the old skeletons arms) are scary *skull* - BM -
skeleton design discussion (new and old)...
Brick Miner replied to Brick Miner's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
well, i'll changed your vote then ;-)done. yup, thanks for the discussion guys.personally, i was curious mostly because i was trying to decided on which skeleton bodies to use in my up coming ghost town MOCs. i mean, i knew which ones i liked... but i also want my MOCs to be "accepted" by the community. right now, it looks like i made a good choice by sticking with the old bodies *y* -------------------------------------------------- as far as the posability of the old skeletons: actually, i have noticed that because of the molding process of the torsos, there is a fine strip of plastic on the arm's ball joint. on a couple of my old skeletons i can actually get the arm to rest on the strip and will actually "stay in place." now, this is only if nothing is in there hands, weighing them down, of course. and it is only really useful for taking pictures. but that is all i need !!! - BM -
skeleton design discussion (new and old)...
Brick Miner replied to Brick Miner's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
i like the old ones too... i also think the older style arms match their legs better, and look less robotic. - BM -
well, there has been a lot of discussion on advantages to each design, but i wonder where we stand as a whole... do you like the new-skeleton bodies, with posable arms and less articulation... or the older skeleton bodies, with the dangling "skeleton-like" arms, and full articulation... NOTE: lets leave head design and printing out of the poll, because those could be easily switched around. this poll is more focused on the arm/torso design. - BrickMiner

welcome to EB hussar, like you i share a love for the calvary minifigs... i think the western figs were some of the best figs LEGO has ever produced. especially the bandits and calvary. though, unlike you i prefer the design that LEGO had chosen. i think they made a good call with the blue cowboy hats and solid blue uniforms... actually, the official colonel character was always my least favorite western minifigure because he had black pants :-D in any case, it's interesting to hear others views and opinions ;-) like others have said, your use of the baseplate is great. only, i wish it were the older yellow-gray color instead of the new blue-gray color. oh well, looks good *y* hope to see you around !!! ok, i'm glad somebody understands that point-of-view :-D after re-reading what i wrote, i felt a little silly about being a hard-core WW fan, and saying "i don't want anymore WW sets" it almost seems contradictory. but it makes sense to me :-/ -------------------------------------------------- i like this last line... "i could do that" that

hmmm... that

great, i really liked reading your ideas... i think you are on the right track for making your own WW series. i hope this thread does continue, as i think it is helping with your inspiration (perhapse others ???)... i think fleshing out the ideas and concepts behind these sets really helps propel imagination, and creativity.-BM

Brick Miner replied to Brickadier General's topic in LEGO Historic Themes

i've been meaning to post here... i ran into this on BS a couple days ago, and saw the name attached to the folder... so i had to come here to give my respect. this is by-far my favorite pirate MOC. just truly spectacular. and this is coming from a guy who loves simple, precise, and SYSEM-ish building styles and MOCs. i think this creation was the dream of every little kid who played with the imperial guards back in the early 90's. i know it was mine... so thanks for giving my dreams a realization *y* *y* *y* - BM
