[MOCs] Rock Raiders 2.0+
the Inventor replied to the Inventor's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
@Maple, @Feuer Zug Thanks. @Flak Maniak Yes, you are correct. -
For a long time I wanted to build some Rock Raider MOCs. I loved playing the game and with the sets when it was new and remember playing a lot with it and building things from the game (with the wrong colors). Sadly I never had the big sets but I did have the the Loader-Dozer and a couple of small sets so I did have most minifigs and the rock monster except the Chief. So I recently started putting some figs together and started updating them, and also added some extra characters. Rock Raiders 2.0+ by Ids, on Flickr From left to right: - Raiden (a new miner to expand the team) - Nari (a rookie engineer, helps Sparks with his tasks) - Wiz (a Zotaxian expert in energy crystals and Voltstones) - Sparks (an expert on all things mechanical and electrical) - Jet (the most courageous and strong-willed of all the Rock Raiders, she is a very skilled pilot) - Chief (the oldest, wisest and most experienced Rock Raider) - Docs (the head Geologist and Commander) - Bandit (the greatest sailor) - Axle (one of the best drivers of the team) - Rocky (a robot) - Krenxx (a demolition expert) When building the figs, I realized I had to also build some vehicle for them, for FebRovery (see also this topic: [MOC] Febrovery 2022 a story of rovers - LEGO Sci-Fi - Eurobricks Forums) I made one: FebRovery 2022 - 25 by Ids, on Flickr Heavy Tunnelator by Ids, on Flickr The search for energy crystals continues, the Heavy Tunnelator is a new Rock Raiders vehicle, the drill can be pushed out of the vehicle to drill from a safe distance. An experimental function of the vehicle is that the drill can be remotely controlled from inside the cabin, and can continue to drill without being attached to the base. And today I also finished some small ones: Rock Raider scouts by Ids, on Flickr Two small Rock Raider vehicles. Made an updated Hover Scout and a small scout rovers. Thanks for looking and let me know what you think, I will probably work on some more vehicle when I have an idea.

I forgot to post one, but here are the last 2: FebRovery 2022 - 27 The Crater Cruiser. When the gravity is too high for your 'Bouncer' (see below), you can now also buy our improved cruiser. Cruising over the craters like no one. Ps. don't forget to activate the special button to improve the ground clearance for the cabin... FebRovery 2022 - 27 by Ids, on Flickr FebRovery 2022 - 28 The Spyrius Robo-Sentinel. Guarding all stolen tech by Spyrius. Equipped with one mechanical arm (with attached laser) and a special magnet arm, to grab any M-tron or Ice Planet tech. Controlled from within, the driver has a great view in front of it, but can also use the eyes of the Robo-Sentinel. The Robo-Sentinel also has an autonomous guard mode to spot any intruders within sensor range. -- For this Spyrius build, I changed the trans-neon green with orange, and red for the visors of the figs, I also added dark red as a new accent color. FebRovery 2022 - 28 by Ids, on Flickr Robo-Sentinel by Ids, on Flickr @Feuer ZugThanks, I'm very happy with how much it resembles the original.

FebRovery 2022 - 26 Jim: Look at that one, that red rover. Dave: Apparently its a Gyrojet Sidewinder. Jim: How stable is that one, with only three wheels. Dave: When the wheel is spinning, it is very stable. -- When I saw this toy from my dad, I knew I had to create a Lego version of it and what better time than for FebRovery, I did add a spoiler on the back for stability (I mean looks). And it rolls very well, better that the 1970s toy, because I used 3 actual wheels instead of 1 and 2 fake wheels on the 1970s toy. The original toy works by pulling a rip cord next to the wheel to make it spin, I haven't added that to my version. FebRovery 2022 - 24 The Mobile Communication Rover, or MCR is used to communicate with remote expedition teams on Hibernia, multiple MCRs can cover a very large area to establish a fast, direct communication network without the need to rely on any base, outpost or radio mast/communication tower. Equipped with sensors, antennas, radars and radio equipment it can also be used to detect any vehicle near the rover to assist search and rescue teams when needed and broadcast emergency message over a long range. The secondary function is to monitor the weather and alarm nearby people of approaching storms. -- My first Hibernia MOC, I somewhat based it on radio ships, except with tracks for land/ice. FebRovery 2022 - 24 by Ids, on Flickr @Feuer Zug Thanks.

FebRovery 2022 - 23 Blacktron II Message Disruptor Mk2. The previous version was too slow when the Space Police came, so a new version was developed with better handling and a different wheelbase to quickly outrun the Space Police. FebRovery 2022 - 23 by Ids, on Flickr

FebRovery 2022 - 22 Bart: What is this, I'm gone for a few days and almost nobody takes their job serious anymore. You know we need at least 6 more days, until the month is over. Duncan: When the boss is gone... Bart: There is no time to relax yet. Viva: They are training. Bart: How is this training? Viva: Well, Mello is defending the earth. Bart: He plays space defender! Viva: It's good for his reaction when piloting a space ship. Bart: Well and that new recruit in front then? He's just playing with a game controller. Duncan: That's a special trainings rover, to control remote rovers, we call it the 'Game Chair Rover' or GCR for short. Viva: How does that work? Duncan: Normally a remote rover can be controlled with the remote, I added a chair to follow the rover, so that you would never be outside the operating range of it. Viva: Oh, interesting, it looks fun. -- Just a small rover for today, with a fun scene attached. FebRovery 2022 - 22 by Ids, on Flickr

FebRovery 2022 - 21 Everybody welcomes the new mobile communication rover when it enters the base. The communication devices can be controlled on the back of the rover This eight wheel drive rover has no problem with most terrain, and can climb almost any crater. FebRovery 2022 - 20 A small reconnaissance rover used by Whitetron, called the W4r. Build for speed and maneuverability, equipped with various sensors and communication devices, to detect and alert HQ of possible intruders, or relay precious intelligence through. Two small plasma blasters on the side are to fend off enemy's or intruders. FebRovery 2022 - 20 by Ids, on Flickr

FebRovery 2022 - 19 On one of ice asteroids in the asteroid belts of the Krysto system, a small team of explorers of the Enceladus is searching for energy crystal to further their research. This is also the first real-life test of the newly developed "Crystallization Locater", beneath the cockpit are special sensors to detect the crystals, together with the front sensors, it can detect energy crystals within a range of around 2500 meters. The crew then proceeds to retrieve or excavate the crystals and store them in the storage containers in the back of the vehicle. -- I really like how the cockpit came together and the weird wheel/skis configuration, just like a snow scooter. FebRovery 2022 - 19 by Ids, on Flickr
-
FebRovery 2022 - 18 A small Kalon transportation rover. The Kalons use these to transport goods quickly around the base and landing places, they can be used inside and outside the domed cities. A special mechanism allows the main engine to be mounted inside the drive wheel, the rest of the wheels are only added for some support/stability. About Kalons, don't feed them any crabs from Kandor-III, unless you don't mind them tearing the place down. It is best to approach them with caution. FebRovery 2022 - 18 by Ids, on Flickr

[WIP] Lego monorails. [Custom Rail Systems (CRS)]
the Inventor replied to Trekkie99's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Ok, I'll check that one out. I know you could use a lot of motors, but preferable one which can be controlled by a remote or something. -
FebRovery 2022 - 17 Did you order a Pizza, Pepper Roni's Pizza delivery service is ready to serve. Pizza on the moon, no problem, just shout and the spy satellites will automatically send one to your door. Payment, no problem, it's gone from your account before you know it. Serving the customers since 1997 (with a few takeovers in between). Ps. Not affiliated with Blacktron, Spyrius or any other shady organization. @Masao Hidaka So let me make a list, I would at least need: BrickLink - Part 21980 : LEGO Electric, Motor WeDo 2.0 Medium [Electric, Motor] - BrickLink Reference Catalog (1x, optional 2x) BrickLink - Set 88009-1 : LEGO Hub [Power Functions:Powered Up] - BrickLink Reference Catalog BrickLink - Set 88010-1 : LEGO Remote Control [Power Functions:Powered Up] - BrickLink Reference Catalog Is any other motor possible, or is this one preferred because je can mount it on some studs instead of a technic frame? -
FebRovery 2022 - 16 After selling almost all the crabs of Kandor-III (see: Crab fishing on Kandor-III) for profit, the Chromians, bought a new rover. The Murasaki-II is a special vehicle made by SynTron Heavy Industries based on Earth (who also makes civilian vehicles since 2146). The six wheeled drive provides excellent traction on any surface, and the special tires used, make it also very light. With the front to back cockpit design, you get a clear view of the surroundings and the sky (especially when you have eyestalks, body modifications are discouraged by the manufacturer though). The cockpit is made from a special transparent solar panel, to make sure your rover is never without power. This custom version of the rover features extra chrome details, specially made for the Chromians. The normal version is for sale this summer, starting prices from 98.765.432,10 credits (no Tax included), for sale at your nearest dealer. Ps. Dropship delivery will cost extra. [WIP] Lego monorails. [Custom Rail Systems (CRS)]
the Inventor replied to Trekkie99's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Interesting thread, always wanted to build some modern monorail, especially when seeing the models of Masao Hidaka. But now I have a couple of questions, what motors, battery box would I need? I don't really know the motors LEGO uses, and have used in the past and how capable they are, I would like to builds something that can climb at least (as well as just driving around). I do have some very old 12V and 9V (train) motors and an RC train with remote (set 60052), which I also saw a design for. But the newer ones are controlled with bluetooth I see, and maybe motors with more torque (which you would neet to climb a slope). So any advice you could give me. -

FebRovery 2022 - 15 Jim: The police officer said to be on the lookout for suspicious rovers right. Dave: Yes, she did. Jim: That one looks rather suspicious. The capsule rover is a special high pressure rover, which can even be used in the deep sea, which is needed to reach the city of An-Ra, at the bottom of lake Stella-Maris. -- Well this cockpit gave me some trouble photographing it, the reflections were not normal, especially as I wanted to show the fig inside... FebRovery 2022 - 14 Jim and Dave are halted at the Space Police checkpoint. Talking with Dave the Police officer tells that they are looking for a Blacktron Spy signaled around this area, if they proceed, they should be cautious for any suspicious rover they see. -- The Space Police Trike, is a multipurpose investigation rover, equipped with search lights and a cockpit with a clear view at the front and sides. FebRovery 2022 - 14 by Ids, on Flickr @LEGO Train 12 Volts Thanks, I always try to add appropriate figs to the scene to enhance it.

FebRovery 2022 - 13 The Heavy Rocket Transport is used by the Federation to launch new and improved communication satellites in orbit. The crew of two can find the optimal launch site with all the sensor equipment on board and can even fine tune the rocket fuel to launch the rocket with the optimal conditions. A scout flies ahead to clear the launch site for the imminent launch of the rocket. -- Well, the weekend was here and I finally had some time to build some bigger rover for FebRovery, I'm fairly happy with the results of this Neo-Classic space rocket transport.
