ah game board pieces that can be arranged to make a game board track roll the dice to see how many squares your car moves that sort of thing I gather? Well, its a nice idea personally I'll pass, since I get the same cars on discount anyway That orange one is awesome I agree, as a parts pack, very nice orange tiles and slopes in there. Plus it has those classic airplane tires.

Was just considering this piece you can find it in Striking Venom... or the Batman Dragster Does anyone know if and what sloped pieces match up with the curved edges of this? Having windows that seal flat against the walls is important for spaceships.... Then again I've never seen any ships on brickshelf actually 'seal' this window... so maybe it doesnt have any matching slopes....

Bridge Walker vs White Lightning now on Amazon!
xenologer replied to dillthepill's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Looks like you were right! Just saw Bridge Walker on the shelf at a local Target store. (in CA, USA) Not buying it there though, for 50$ I definetly want to go to a Lego Shop and get my loyalty card stamped. I just hope they have it too... -
Looks like a 3 pack of the old Tiny Turbos... Theres a big discount bin at TRU with those in it... Know anything else about the set? Is it just a combo pack or does it come with tracks(corner picture on box) or something extra? Whats Ravensburger btw?

I prefer the term 'Out of System' its a more politically correct way of saying it.
-
Maybe it's inverted because its a 'leaked' picture and by inverting it, a lego rep scrolling thru the forum quickly won't notice it?
-
When they say 2007... do they mean... late 2007? or do they mean that some sets might start showing up around Christmas time this year on Amazon...?

Careful what you say. That 6 years part came out of The Bible. And we wouldn't want to say anything bad about that Book now would we? *wacko* Uhh, personally as a liberal 20-something year old, it doesn't really bother me. Interesting commentary on the Bible versus modern standards about that sorta thing... Tho maybe it would have been more considerate of the person to instead of using the actual Lego Logo to just use a red box with some parody name. On that point it definetly fails...

Thanks to your more detailed pics, I was able to do this: LDD Factory model. Since Factory doesn't have all the same bricks and colors, I had to make it red, and put little lights on the roof where an angled plate was supposed to be. Aside from those little changes, as far as I can see it should be identical. I had to guess a little bit on how to do the backside that you can't see in the box picture, but I'm pretty sure it's close enough. You can buy it Here for 6.96$ USD More expensive than the old X-Pods, but it's definetly larger than most of them too. One Caveat though, the Real one that comes out next year will have more parts, I can already see from the alternate model pics on the box that there are more pieces than just the ones in the Excavator model. (...i guess i could try building them too later using the same brick pallet as much as i can, that might get pretty close to the real set inventory...) What you think? Was my construction method a good guess?

building not 0 or 90deg on baseplate. Snor?
xenologer replied to Tordenskjold's topic in Pirate MOCs
Yeah. I just realized two things. -You can add a 3rd round 1*1 in the very center between studs, for extra strength -the two rounds on the corners, could be replaced wtih 1*1 squares to better match the tiles around them. -
Plastic is flexible. Additionally, no mould (especially now that they switched to cheap plastic) :-( is ever perfect. There is a built-in 'manufacturing tolerance' so if you stay within that small margin... you can do gradual bends in the wall...

xenologer replied to Tordenskjold's topic in Pirate MOCs
And it works with other sized plates of course. and you can make it stronger by using bigger plates with more than just two studs connecting them OXOO OOXO OOOX XOOO XOOO OOOX OOXO OXOO You get the idea... I learned this technique on one guy's site... I don't remember who it was, but he makes lots of Space MOCs and cad stuff... I havent seen it anyplace else... -

xenologer replied to Tordenskjold's topic in Pirate MOCs
I think theres something called 'jumper technique' Take a 2*4 plate put two 1*1 round plates on two opposite corners Take another 2*4 plate, attach it on top to those 1*1's, but attach it by the Opposite corners compared to the first 2*4 plate hard to describe 2*4 plates: the studs with the 'X' on them, match up on both plates if you can put 1*1 stud rounds between them so all the other studs don't get in the way... you can stack them at a twisted angle see 'diagram' below XOOO OOOX XO OO OO OX -
Yep! I agree. But in defence of the Terminator movies; the robots weren't interested in enslavnig humans, they simply wanted to survive. It was the humans who first attemted to kill Skynet because they were afraid of a non-human intelligence; they started the war, the rest was essentially the machines trying to defend themselves.
-
Nice. I love the Classic Space Evolved look on the fighter and scorpion. The only disagreement is that in my storylines the Robots flee to space so they can live peacefully without harassment from the irrational humans. And they have no intention of ever returning (robots live in space with no air just fine). Years later the humans wander into space themselves and become the aggresors against the now peaceful space robots. Heck, maybe they're really two sides of the same story....

Thanks for the nicer pics! The small sets are definetly looking better. Based on the alternate models, they have More pieces than are being used in the main models. And they're certainly bigger than the old X-Pod sets.

I'd prefer a design that needs no rubber bands to pull the wings closed. Have technic gears connect directly to the wings themselves at the joints.

Lately I've developed a habit of buying new sets, and building them. But then leaving them as is. Not building any MOCs from them, just buying more new sets... I guess it's because I've been busy, not much time to sit down and design anything new. Its problematic of course, since new sets cost money, and I end up with lots of them sitting around doing not too much... and bricks that are not being put to other use than display... Bridge Walker and BUilding Crane both got released to USA S&H, but as nice as they are, if I think about it, I probably should not buy either till I take the time to do something with the bricks and sets I already have lying around... seems kinda depressing, like I dont have time to be creative... no ideas... Anyone else get this problem? Too busy to MOC so you end up doing nothing but buy and build the official sets?

7905 Building Crane at S@H North America
xenologer replied to Hobbes's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
AUUGH! both this and the Bridge Walker now availble, and both the same price. Which one will I choose?? -
suggestions... my first thought was that the weapons need more to them...they dont seem menacing enough at the moment he's holding them with the bladed edges facing upwards maybe if they were held more solidly, with the blades facing out to his left and right for slashing... you might even consider putting both on one hand to make a big claw, freeing up the second hand for a gun

LEGO set surveys ain't for nothing
xenologer replied to ScottManDeath's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Surveyer's want to hear honest feedback so they can know whats really going on, not 'good' answers. I once got a TV survey in the mail and since I don't watch TV wrote a responce explaining why I didn't because all the networks and the new 'reality tv' fad sucked. They sent me 10$ for the survey anyway. -
Thanks for the info. TIP: last week I called my local Lego Store (CA, USA) to see if they had this in stock and it was not in yet. But they did tell me that since they didn't have it in store they could do a special order if it was on the lego.com site and waive the shipping fee for me (he didn't clarify if that was for store pickup or house delivery... but I'd assume house...) At the time It wasnt on S@H yet so I didnt get to do it... but now that it is... I just might Anyhow, so thats a tip for you, you might be able to get free shipping on some items if they are on S@H but not at a Lego Store and you place an order through the Shop.

The jet.... I dont care for the colors.... not too useful to me The House.... I've never been much of a townbuilder, but Hey! its got a bazillion 1*1 tiles on the walkway. Monkey versus Robot - as fun as it is to watch them duke it out, I dont need either. on the good side The car, is always welcome since I love Yellow bricks; the model itself isnt that bad, its kinda blocky, but the doors appear to open.. which is a nice design feature... It also has some great 1*1slopes, and that windshield I Must have And the mini Excavator and Helicoptor are nice looking, Personally I wouldn't mind the loss of the X-pod containers, i have tons sitting around my room that do nothing at all. However... I am debating of going into LDD Factory right now and trying to duplicate them with the existing parts... Theyr'e small enough that you *might* be able to deduce the construction. yeah, I think I'll do that, see how TLC reacts when I guess right and they think someone's leaked instructions... :-D <hr> Okay, Im having a little trouble with the Excavator. If you look at the picture, the left side (our left) seems to be 4 studs long from the black cone, to the yellow 1*1 slopes above the arm. But the right side, seems to be 5 studs long, 1 for the rounded corner next to the black cone, 2 for the grille, and 2 for the brick right behind the window glass. This means that either... the 1*1 slopes over the arm, and the 2*1 tile over the cockpit do not align. Or the black exhaust cone and the rounded corner behind the grille do no align The problem is that, vissually everything seems to line up for me... even though counting studs says they cannot. Probably due to the extreme perspective of the pic.... Anyone here have better interpretation of what the body is really shaped like?

Now If only there was a way to take an LDD model, and convert it to a PAB order. I like LDD but I really have no use for the custom boxes...

Favorite Exo-force wheeled vehicle, jet, or ground structure?
xenologer replied to Zarkan's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
While internet polls have dubious value... I will take this opportunity to say that I did prefer the alternate(non-mecha) forms of these sets. Bulldozer because you can't go wrong with construction equiptment. (the original model was some silly looking jeep) Hover Hawk because while the other's don't look solid enough to really play with/ or just look odd. Barricade thing because it looks plausible, whereas the other bases clearly are not what they claim to be...
