  1. Well, we've seen a bunch of pics for 2007 stuff... and I didn't see any mention of X-Pods My local TRU doesn't carry them anymore either... Is the theme over?
  2. How do you know that if you didn't ask the price yourself? Maybe they would have sold it, in which case, it does have a value. ...Maybe you didn't ask anyone because you were afraid they'd actually say it did cost something... ...guilt or ignorance? is there a difference?... Ross is a used/discount item store, so I'd not at all be surprised at them selling a bag of legos who's box had been damanged... of course there are other ways of looking at things... Don't let me judge you... I think ethics are subjective, to each his own consider this perspective: is there such a thing as doing good for the sake of goodness? or would your prefer doing good for the sake of the ends it causes? If you believe in an absolute good, then yer in trouble. If you believe in weighing the consequences, well, you didn't caught, and a set that was already damaged and in a secondhand store doesn't affect TLC sales. As long as we are playing with Ethics here's another brain teaser for you: is taking advantage of barcodes stealing, or barter? Consider, when an erroneous barcode is on the item, the clerk scans it, sees the price displayed, and asks you to pay that amount. When you pay that amount and he accepts, are you not both Agreeing upon that price for the item? Very much like a barter system. What if you intentionally altered the barcode in question? What if it was just wrong by their mistake and no action of yours? Either way the transaction went the same, its just a matter of intent... Yeah, you can debate that one for a long time....
  3. hmmmh 'attack of the clones' Maybe you could swap hairpieces and heads between the different bodies so they arent all Exactly the same?
  4. Actaully... rather than the bridge of a starship, that looks like a rather nice classroom setup. As part of a moonbase, or just plain futuristic architecture. I guess it's the way the minifigs were arranged, looked at first glance like a teacher standing at front presenting in front of a holographic blackboard...
  5. I think 7+ years is milking a franchise for far too long. Just how long ago was it that the last SW movie came out? How long can you expect something to stay popular? I think it's a bad move to keep making more SW sets; as time passes the fanbase will inevitably decrease and Lego ought to expand into other Space sets so they don't get pulled down with it(i dunno if exo-force is an example). I'm sure there will always be the most hardcore dedicated fans, who buy every single 300$+ UCS model... but that doesn't help the market as a whole...
  6. Pretty sure he's the skeleton in Shadow Crawler's stomach. :-D
  7. Totally. In fact I think TLC is Insane for signing onto a ?what is it now? 2008? license. By then the SW movie franchise will be OLD and less popular and not too profitable...
  8. Maybe TLC finally took my advice and realized that a war on a mountain with no discernable land or apparent resources of value(to be fighting over) just didnt make sense... :)lol
  9. Whoa, I didnt notice that Skeleton at first, neat, all it needs is a big hairpiece... That might very well become the first skeleton minifig I ever own. Hey, Notice on the small sets - Cyclone and Claw, the knees don't seem to bend? they're just technic angle connectors. I hope they fix that in the final production run... Ought to use the click-hinge knees like in the original small mechs.
  10. They all look Amazing! -Hobbes, can you do a favor and edit your post to put the names and prices alongside the pictures? Thanks... I wonder how much that 'claw crusher?' is .. looks like a mini thunder fury...
  11. Nice Yes this is much better. Has character, looks like something you could actually play with. Sturdy, built strong rather than for the sake of hiding studs. Does the 'head' open up? those side panels look like they might be a hangar bay door....
  12. RobFawkes has a very nice ship http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=204358 I am truly impressed. Those of you with a careful eye will recognize a blend of several past themes: Classic/Exploriens colors, with a BlackTron2 cockpit design, and the tail of M-Tron's Particle Ionizer ship. A great example of how ideas of the past can still be great today!
  13. As much as I dislike the SW licensce. After seeing this topic I just *had* to do this: LDD Factory model. Unfortunatly, its been repainted to my bizzare tastes in green and yellow. :) LDD Link at 6.5$USD it's not much more expensive than any of the Official microscale SW models...
  14. I agree as far as I'm concerned these ships lately are nothing more than an illustration of how lucky they were at PAB or Bricklink. Given enough hinges and tiles anyone can make a big snotty ship, its just a matter of free time... there are exceptions of course, I think if a model is more than just big expensive curved shapes, but actually an attempt to make a detailed replica of something real or from a tv show then there's merit to it...(UCE) personally, I think my microscale ships are going to be pocket sized only, fun for tabletop wargames anything bigger I'll probably limit to minifig scale with some playability, no statues....
  15. Can you tell us about compatibility with Technic and System legos? Could you attach the motors to a technic chassis and make something completely different? like motorize a dump truck or something? how about the chance of using a Mindstorms controller to control those powerful motors?
  16. as you may know I've come out of dark ages about a year ago now, so the majority of my sets are relatively new stuff (bley age?) anyhow, I decided to buy some older sets off ebay since the new themes are kinda dry lately, and I notice something: The Bricks are Different. color aside, the older ones seem more sturdy when I connect them there's a solid 'click' noise, while the new ones just silently slide together. disconnecting them requires a brick seperator less I lose fingernails, new ones I just squeeze at the right angle and they pop apart. stacks of old bricks align perfectly, new ones I sometimes have to flip bricks 180 because of subtly offcenter stud issues... I also think the old ones might wear out less; I've got pocketscale models with rounded corners on the new bricks from rubbing in my pocket! Ok, so it seems that there's been some change in plastic manufacture.... Well, I'm not going to cry over that, nothing to be done (tho I'll sign a petition if you have one) BUT! I now have a great dillema: Do I mix my oldstyle bricks together with the newstyle ones? or keep them separated as an elite class of bricks for building only the most special of MOCs? What do you guys do in this situation?
  17. Intersting note Do you think TLC is worried about copyrights or whatnot with LDD models? I recently had one inexplicably not-approved for gallery submission, perhaps because it's a StarFury from the Babylon5 tv show (my favorite btw) and because I actually credited it as such in the description. After resubmitting, with a new less direct description - I said 'based on a popular tv show' instead of specifically naming Babylon5. It went through OK, but they changed my description to say nothing but default: 'creation'. I've also had a description that made a joke refrence to Captain Planet get edited... that shows been dead for years... Ohwell, I think it's rather silly... not really complaining since they did eventually let me upload, but it makes me laugh a little, people are too uptight with all the liability stuff nowadays what you think? P.S. nice StarFury eh?
  18. I've only come out of dark ages for a year now, but I think I can relate to this... rediscovered lego, bought a bunch of sets and had fun, but I think I'm all done for the rest of this year. I guess it's because of all the themes... I already have 1 from each that looked good, no point in getting yet another Takeshi or Batman clone, right? and already have all the Town/City stuff that looked worthwhile...if only they had some women minifigs or something that isnt just another fireman... I dont need another one... Next year I might be more active again, AquaRaiders could be good... In the meantime, its just LDD Factory and maybe a small MOC whenever I get a cool idea... speaking of which... I think I want to make a Harvester or Feller Buncher have a look
  19. Liberator looks good as usual, and it's always nice to see a space moc that Isn't in some silly theme or 'faction'. oi... why the clone tank as a base though... that thing has serious turning issues.... could easily get flanked and blown up by unarmored guys on foot - it'd never turn around in time to face them... Maybe split it into two segments with a hinge in the center? articulated steering? and a special feature where they can split and act as separate tanks?
  20. Since there have been some Racer's topics in here I suppose this is the right forum... With Minifig Scale cars, and Tiny Turbo's, those small wheels(non-techinc); anyone have any issues with them being either noisey or lots of friction? I've found that dripping water into the hubs makes them roll a lot smoother. The only problem of course, is that water dries out after a while. Anyone here use actual oil or other things on their wheels?
  21. For an even bigger challenge, how about Bag-Building with your eyes closed! :) Thanks for reviewing. The only problems I have with this set are the wheels ( I prefer some more classical wheels, not this 'hotwheels' style) And the fact that there are no tail-lights (they used a sticker instead), theres plenty of space back there for some red 1*1 plates tail lights....cutting cost again I guess
  22. The first one looks uncomfortably like a speeder bike from StarWars but the second version has to be the best one of all so far!
  23. actually, the wheels are the same size, the nose is just bigger I think I've got two main reasons for Rebuilding Space. First of all, I grew up in the M-Tron Blacktron2 era, and went into dark ages just as Exploriens was ending (I missed insectoids, UFO, and RoboForce, lucky me). After coming back though, I found that everything was StarWars and UFO, etc, thus I had to look into the distant past to find anything appealing - Classic Space. While the theme and atmosphere of Classic Space definetly had appeal (2010 Space Oddysey is one of my fav movies btw) I did grow up with M-Tron - Exploriens era, so the construction style was a bit dated for me; thus the Rebuilds, that attempt to preserve the concept of those old sets but use more modern techniques and styling. Secondly, I'm trying to share my vision of the past with others via LDD; I want everyone to see that the Classic concepts are still great, and can compete with the modern Licensed and conflict based themes. If enough people take interest(buy the LDD models now!), maybe TLC will realize that an original Space theme can still be succesful...
  24. Im not a biker fan but those are very nice. With the exception of the handlebar parts, they look like they can be created in LDD Factory. Any plans for mass production?
  25. Made a neat little cargo container. These bulky containers are designed to securely transport valuable cargo. Their durability is often taken advantage of by Space Pirates, who rather than risk a dangerous boarding action might opt to simply blow a freighter into spacedust and tractor beam the containers (who's thick armor often lets them outlive the unlucky ship) 4*4*4 stud cube, except for the handles on each end that stick out a little; so should be very convenient for filling up a freighter's hold. As you can see from the pic, the top opens up, and inside is enough space for 2*2stud*6plates of cargo. You should probably put something small yet valuable in there: maybe 2-3 minifig 'guns' or a stack of two 'fuel cells' or maybe just a bunch of gold pirate coins :) LDD download/purchase link
