  1. I got my hippo on in Forest3 One month or so is ok. Because I’m Shiny! (And I think you’ll get all three references)
  2. Buh-bye h-hippo. I'll miss you! first, grats to the Hellionz and to Whitby. to the townies, that one is on me, sorry. Man, what a ride! I've played a handful of mafia games and somehow, end up deep in the game. I think I described it to the wonderful host Hink as stressful fun. I hate no pm games! Utterly! I am a talkative player. Very talkative. So I was super frustrated at the end where there was so little to be said. Youll be able to see from tags I'm in Australia, which meant days often started and ended when I was asleep. On the final day I knew stuff might happen, but couldn't be awake the night, hence the threat of proxy. then Whitby spoke, I was reading in bed, almost asleep and his pitch made some sense, but by that point I'd've given the win to Sundra if she'd asked. Stymied from lack of discussion and a whole game of being shut out of conversations meant I was clawing the walls wanting it to be over and just sleep. I'm sorry to Braxton for the slender accusation. Bamboozled by Pierot, though reading the dead board you got dealt a crap hand dude. Props to Leevi, Ember and Brewer who played hard too.
  3. I’d say a party cannot have more defensive stance members than offensive stance in a round. If the party is deficient in tanks, they’ll have to cycle through, each taking full strength hits now and then. If the party has extra tanks they can still swap to use items etc. which leads to the suggestion that items like health kits can only be used when in defensive stance. Add in effects like taunt (causes next action to be defensive stance) and enrage (next action is offensive) and there are options for preserving rangers uniqueness but also ways to negate them.
  4. It depends. I’d say in a SF setting that weapons kinda plateau, it doesn’t matter much if you die from burns, radiation, impact damage or something mystical, you’re still dead. Any weapons that don’t cut it will fall out of favour. So for those committed to a whole slew of different weapons they need to keep track of, sure, ignoring the defensive stance bonus or being able do deal offensive damage in a defensive stance are both valid weapon perks. For me I think the differentiation and interest in different characters comes from skills or abilities or traits or aspects or whatever, not about whether the stick they carry has three corners or four.
  5. I always thought of row as an approach not as an actual geographic placement. I.e. A character is either acting offensively, dealing and taking full damage, or they’re acting defensively, taking less damage, but unable to deal as much either. Of course, that’s not how it worked out in the game, but if people are keen to keep front row/back row maybe it’s a suggestion. To summarise -row not as a function of weapon ranges or types but strictly a damage multiplier (set at either 0.25, 0.5 or 1)
  6. Yes! Yes. Yes? What were the questions? I haven’t been around much but I will be for the next couple of months. Should be fun!
  7. The signal box was inspired from here. Duq I think. If you mean the large building in the middle of the main loop, it’s actually an XXL grand emporium. Takes up its own city block.
  8. Some might remember I asked for help with converting Cyril J Freezer’s Minories plan into L-gauge form. I completed it and displayed it this weekend at Sydney Brick Show. Picture is a link to WIP shots and more display pictures. It was well received, but more importantly was lots of fun to operate. Shuffling trains out of the station and around the loop in the layout behind before coming back in stayed interesting all weekend. Thanks for looking!
  9. Much more detailed than my effort! Very nice. Especially the locomotive! Will you be naming and lettering the cars?
  10. I think the key thing that helped sell the EN is the design work had been done. Tested and trialled and working. (Albeit a simple mod to improve running was quick to follow). For a builder starting out on locomotives with powered running gear, it was is an unbeatable tutorial set. Sets sell to those who want one purchase to obtain all the parts. Yes, bricklink is there for the advanced builder, but not everybody has the time or inclination to delve into reciprocating motions and quartering. Even amongst keen train builders I'm sure there are many who love detailing modern image deseils but are quite satisfied with a simple, working, Night. Besides, the suggestion of a bricklinked own design being equivalent in price is only true because of the inflated after-market price of a ten year old set. If it was rereleased at retail price, that would not be the case, a rerelease would be a very attractive parts pack regardless of anyone's opinion of the merits of the actual model. All this is not to say I personally want a rerelease. I want a brand new stream locomotive, with all the new options opened up by the range of new elements released since 2009. I want something that is as edge of the envelope now as the EN was for its time. After all, locomotives are built to go forwards.
  11. It would be nice to see your brick version of this rather than your render/advertisement. And an idea of what it’d cost to replicate.
  12. That was me again! My next layout, based on CJ Freezer’s Minories. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minories_(model_railway)
  13. I built a layout for a show. 8 baseplates by 3, 5 switches. I had plenty of fun shuffling cars about at home. In a show situation I was way too busy talking to gawkers and doing other things. The layout had a loop though soo there was always a train running, and had a passing loop so could swap trains too.
  14. Nerwen growled. What’s the point of being a healer if no one needs healing? She strikes at the first available target.
  15. The saddle tank design is heavily inspired by Canvas Rail’s work, https://flic.kr/p/VhgCUd Previously the loco was a bit finicky with getting the signal into the cabin, now I can drive it with one hand (and the remote) behind my back.
  16. I’ve had a small green saddle tank engine built for a while now. Despite his smiley face, the driver is sad, he can’t stand neatly in the cab of the engine. But, PoweredUp! Now he can. Steam on!
  17. Thanks! Exactly what I needed.
  18. Yes, that’s the parts library Michael Gale has created that one would use with bluebrick to do the planning. Ive done plenty of sketches and back of envelope calculations. But I’m not certain they’re right or that I’ve found the most efficient solution.
  19. I am beginning work on a layout inspired by Cyril Freezer's minories. I don't have a laptop or desk machine to run bluebrick and fiddle around with geometries. I expect I'll be using modified PF points (stubby and 1/8circle). But I don't know what else I'll need in terms of half straights etc, to line up with the stud grid. Could a helpful person spend a couple of minutes on bluebrick and sketch up the approach point work? I'd be very grateful, thanks!
  20. Nerwen pitches the blue gem through the air across the rolling deck, between the milling heroes, landing it unerringly in Toralds hand. Nerwen hands Sapphire to Torald.
  21. Nerwen digs a sapphire out of her satchel. Who needs this?
  22. Unable to say how she had missed the burly figure of Lord Lawrence Boomingham except for the crowd, Nerwen breaks into a grin. Catching him in a brief hug, she stands by the wheel and raises her voice. You heard Boomingham. Let's get underway. If you know your starboard from your port, step to the rigging. If you've got a ranged weapon, find a clear patch of deck, otherwise, get to one of the cannons and begin readying it! Especially you ambassador, make yourself useful for once.
  23. Arthur! Munk! This quite a reunion! speakng to Atramor first, she replies, I heard loud snores behind one of the hold doors, so yes, there's at least that. I don't know who it is, but if it's one of Illidra's crew, they may know where she is.
  24. Lightkiller. Indeed it has. I don’t really know any of those names, but if you and the others here seek to stop it, then I shall stand with you. Nerwen looks across the bay. Is the party in favour of sneaking across, fighting their way across or attempting some deception that avoids immediate conflict?
  25. Nerwen gasped Executions? Who? she looked around at the gathering heroes, The Thief is set up so it can be sailed by two or three. But it’s not well armed. More a smuggling ship than a warship. As for the thief himself, I have not seen him in a long time. Nerwen’s manner visably cools at the mention of Guts Holla.
