I agree with Musikfreak. The friction is less to both mentioned models! If you turn the center differential on the Unimog, you need hardly any force. All 4 wheels turn right away. If I do this on the 8880 or 8865 (both models are standing on my shelf) I definitly need much more force, even If I set the gearboxes to neutral. Regards, Gerhard

I asked the girl in the shop, why they have it already (5 weeks beforfe the official release date. She said: "I don't know, but they sometimes just new stuff along. It is never clear when they get the new stuff. But unfortunately we do not have nay catalogues anymore!" However: I am now on page 41 on step 31! Regards, Gerhard

Thanks! :o) I changed it! These links prevent the whole suspension axle to move left and right without control. If this thing is not there, then the whole back axle would swing left and right. And I hope there is only one link-arm on each side of the vehcile, because otherwise the suspension would not work. It would be blocked. On this picture, you can see, that there are only two link-arms. At least it seems, that they have sorted all the bits and pieces. So they only found 2 of them in the package: Regards, Gerhard

I am sure it can! Otherwise Mercedes would have NOT :) given the licensing to TLG. Here you can see the steering transmission pretty clear: They are using at least one of this part in the steering transmission. This part does not have a "press-fit" connection with an axle, but a floating one. So the steering transmission can expand and compress. Regards, Gerhard

That picture, which I attached, is interessting: They mounted the crane at the front of the Unimog. Very nice, that this is possible. Obvioulsy the attachment-points are the same on both ends of the Mog. BTW: for those, who are "disappointed" about the new portal-axle-part and its one-time-usability. There are two 4WD-cars in the Technic-Lego history: 8880 and 8466. Both cars have special parts for their 4WD: 2999, 6540 and 873c01. For the 8880 the hubs even need special rims to use them. So IMHO it is more than OK, that Lego developed a new part for this special need. Regards, Gerhard

Within all the discussion about the turning point, let's not forget, that the wheel itself is attached with three pins. So there must be something like this: BTW: here is the full foto about the entanglement of the portal-axles: And what is that in the bottom right corner of the picture? A plastic basket??
