First Aqua Raiders and City pics on Amazon.de
Zarkan replied to xwingyoda's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
No, I can't agree with that at all, Sne. Why? Because Aquaraiders has many good differences from Alpha Team DS: 1: DS has major air holes in almost every sub (which is poor design). Aquaraiders has subs that so far, look entirely closed in (Inprovement 1) 2. DS has lots of <insert that tiresome argument> parts (The large arms, the Jack stone pieces, the diver suit base), but more importantly, relies almost entirely on those large curved slopes and windows, making the ships look ugly. Aquaraiders has models that are all very unique, and not just a rehash of each other, and they have tons of useful pieces, unlike DS (improvement 2) 3. The animals in DS (if you can even call them that) are ugly hybrids of machines and sea creatures, and have completely ugly designs that look almost nothing like the intended animal (because they, again, use lots of juniorize pieces). Aquaraiders has completely brick built animals that actually look pretty much like the intended animal, and can be scraped for tons of useful pieces (unlike DS). (Improvement 3) 4: DS has a CRUD base that looks like a 1997 UFO on legs. Aquaraiders has a cool looking base that is much closer to the cool Aquanauts base from 1995 (only much better). (Improvement 4) 5: DS has hardly any acessories (those werid orbs don't really count), and sci fi figures that are useless in MOCing. Aquaraiders has lots of treasure, skeletons, reefs, and minisubs, and they also have figures that have on a modern wetsuit and underwater snorkel, which is hardly sci-fi. (Improvement 5) 6: The most important of all: unlike Deep Sea, Aquaraiders has subs that look much like what would be real 10 years from now. Not too futuristic, but still stylish (the subs in the crab set, the smallest set, and the base set are not nearly as far fetched as you may think). Deep Sea's subs are imposible in real life, and always will be. X-D (Improvement 6) Now, that's 6 good things that are present on Aquaraiders, but not on DS. 6 things that make the 2 lines totally different from each other (with Aquaraiders being MUCH better). I'd even go so far as to say that the only thing in common between the two is the yellow color, and those turbine pieces that aren't really that bad. I may be wrong, but I bet you that if you took some time to think, you'd agree with at least half of what I said. I really don't see much in common with DS and Aquaraiders at all, and if you do, IMO, you are not looking hard enough. ;-) -
It's not THAT bad. ;-) Oh well, just a difference of opinion. Like thats anything new on this board. X-D

New Technic pics
Zarkan replied to sam89's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Very nice.... I've been very pleased with Technic these last few years, and this is no exception. Too bad my budget is so cramped and I don't usually buy technic, so no buy for me. :-( -

Not half bad. I don't like some of the weapons or the thinnes of the larger ones, but not half bad. I'll probably pick up most or all of them, since I still think they're good. Aquaraiders will probably spoil my budget, though. X-D On the positive side, the small ones are sick! And I'm glad we have another quadruped as well. BTW, since you don't like them, EXO-CHAMP, does this mean no Exo-dice stat cards? If so, then..... :-(
-
And the fourth small set has been revealed.... I'm liking the teeth piece and red visorak feet a lot. And, with tons of more pictures showing up, the Barraki will most likely come very soon! ;-)
-
Nope, I just checked on Paint. ;-) If it has gold pieces in it, I might buy it, budget permitting (which usually means I don't have a clue, since there are so many good sets I want, I have no idea which ones to pass on! X-D )

Well, like I said, I don't think we really have to worry about the new space as much as some of you are worrying. If it is anything like the NEW aquaraiders, then a lot of us have hope. And, IMO, I really think that TLC is taking that dirrection, considering what I said in my last post. BTW, I really don't mind shooting mecanisms, as long as they work good (the big missiles are fine with me, not ones like the dumb mecanisms on the minifigure playset ISD.)

*sigh* I hate it when people use other topics to bash Exo-force. It seems to be happening a lot around here these days.... But seriously, why make a second Exo-force theme if there's not need to? I highly doubt that it will be a rip off of a theme that, IMO, isn't as bad as some of you are making it out to be *coughyodacoughstarwars4jcough* No, TLC would never clone a theme like that when the first one is selling so well. No need to, and I don't think that's even on their mind. The new space will most likely have, well, space ships! You really can't label a theme space without a lot of spaceships, so why would they call it space if it was lots of mechs that looked very familiar? I see no proof that TLC would do that, considering all the set images that have been put out so far. I'm very hopefull for this new theme. ;-)
-
Sorry, but I can't really believe it. TLC never puts that many figs into their sets. Probably a fake list, IMO, but I could be wrong, and TLC may actually be putting way more figs into their kits... Probably not, though, as all the 2007 kit images we've seen from other themes don't have nearly as many figs as that. *sad*
-
Ugh, that is really sick. What sicko would make something like that out of legos and plaster it over the internet? I really am disgusted with whoever made it..... >:-( Good thing TLC took quick action, though.

Halloween 06: Spookify Your Avatar - 2nd Edition
Zarkan replied to ApophisV's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'm in. ;-) Pumpkins are always good for halloween, and pumpkins with evil looking faces are even more so! X-D -
That's great! I'm glad you're adding those things in, and I'm also glad you're doing a lot of research on it before you make a lot of the stat cards and stuff. It's great to see another lego fan getting into the Bionicle storyline line! ;-) Also, I heard you say that you won't be making stat cards for a lot of the older kits. I'm pretty familiar with the Bionicle story, powers, names, etc, and if you want, I could help make stat cards for those older characters once you get the basic rules and 2006 cards up. I'd be happy to help make Bioni-dice more complete in that sense. ;-)

A question, Exo champ. Most people who know a bit about Bionicle also know that mask powers and other powers play a big part in the story. Since most masks are not direct attackers, will you be making a way for them to instead penalize or boost players stats temporaraily? What I mean is, a system kind of like this: Example: Axxon, Mask of Truth: (3, 1+ Defense, 2 UP) First catergory: Number of dice to roll. An opponent will roll 2 dice as well. If the opponent wins, the power usage fails. Second catergory: If the player using the power wins, the effect is what is listed here, and will remain like that until the player's next turn. Third catergory: number of usage points required. (like heat points in Exo-dice) A penalty or boost would be repersented by different colored bricks or other things: Green: + movement light grey: - movement blue: + attack black: - attack yellow: + defense dark grey: - defense red: + damage Brown: - damage Did you have anything in mind at least a bit like that, or are there only going to be dirrect, damaging attacks? Thanks. ;-)

Movie version? Yes, it was awful. But the actual set looks nothing like that, as you can see. The overall design and construction wasn't half bad, aside from the Turaga Dume part. So, no, it wasn't awful, IMO. ;-)

"Save the Band" is finally OVER
Zarkan replied to Lord Admiral Helden Ravensdorn's topic in LEGO Action Figures
No, I don't hate you. You can have a different opinion if you want, and I'm not saying that mine is the only right one. I'm just saying that there is still a lot of good in Bionicle IMO, and that it's much less generic than other action figure lines or other lines that I've seen (Pokemon is very generic now, as is GI Joe Sigma 6). But, no hard feelings. I enjoy having a friendly debate. ;-) -
I really don't think ANY bionicle set can be classified as "just awful." Almost every set has uses parts wise, and many of the figures, IMO, were pretty darn awesome (even ones in between 2002 and 2005, the so called horible years). I mean, take a look at the Inika! They are great for parts like the front armor, trans joints, shoulder armor, and other parts in great colors (Hewki's orange yellow and gunmetal come to mind). The feet are a bit big, I agree, but they still look pretty cool on the actual model, and there are uses for them, as there are for any Bionicle part (yes, even the Bohrok joints, you just have to be creative). The heads...Eh, I can understand fine why you hate them. Even I did at first. But, if you look at them closely, you can actually see that they are really not as different from other Bionicle masks as you think (well, other then Kongu's). They just have a different overall style, but they ALSO still have mouths or mouth holes, different shaped eyes, beams or spikes that come out from the sides, and other general mask charateristics. The weapons are the only thing I can Really agree on with you, as they are much different from most weapons and have barely any holes to put things on. They are still cool, though, just for their strobe light effect. ;-) What I'm trying to say is that those three things you mentioned really don't justify calling the entire kit awful. They still are very poseable, and have lots of other great parts, so I really can't see them being labeled "Awful," without listing more than the 3 reasons you have up there.

"Save the Band" is finally OVER
Zarkan replied to Lord Admiral Helden Ravensdorn's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I find that nearly impossible to believe. As long as GregF stays and the current bionicle story team stays, that has about a 0% chance of happening. I'm dead sure that they will never voluntarily suggest putting them into bionicle other than as a completely unserious thing like the Free The Band promotion. Maybe, but I've noticed you've also been more negative lately then near the begining of the year: On Axonn: On Brutaka: I'm seeing a big contratiction between what you said then, and what you are saying now. *wacko* Another thing: I think the light up swords and eyes are pretty darn cool, and many of the bionicle loving members HERE like them too (especially JINZONINGEN 73). I don't see anything wrong with them (I do agree on the Zamor though. Mask packs would be much more welcome to me as well.) -
"Save the Band" is finally OVER
Zarkan replied to Lord Admiral Helden Ravensdorn's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Zane, I really think you should be a little more positive about Bionicle! Seems every time you say something about Bionicle these days, it happens to be really negative! I hardly call 200 piece Titans and 40 piece Toa <insert that tiresome argument> and 4+! (Bionicle speaking). That's really quite how Bionicle was in 2001 (the so called best year) as well! And as for Bionicle Heroes, remember that Bionicle games are never main cannon and are more for gameplay and graphics than story. Bionicle heroes is still fun, and it still has lots of bionicle and lego in it, AND is not part of the offical storyline, so why are you complaining? Well, unfortunately, some of the young members on BZP do spam and make pointless theorys just for the fun of it (they really should not be on a forum). But, Eurobricks has ALSO had spamming and inmature members before, just as it has a lot of good members. BZP and Eurobricks can relate in that manor. ;-) -
"Save the Band" is finally OVER
Zarkan replied to Lord Admiral Helden Ravensdorn's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I think that's taking it a little too far. Bionicle is still (mostly) going strong, and Free The Band is just a minor distraction. No, that's because the ones making those statements are 10 year olds trying to make an impression (same goes for the fake theories). Don't forget that BZP is not a almost entirely 13+ forum like Eurobricks is. And, there may be a lot of young members, but there's still a lot of intelegent and thoughtful members on their forum as well. And, BTW, I think it's wrong to call anybody an idiot because of a few remarks, just like I thought it was wrong to call Megabloks members "without taste" back in that Megabloks forum discusion topic here. Exactly. Free the band is not for the average 18 year old who wouldn't care if Free The Band was canceled. It's for just who TLC was aiming at: kids. Neither the less, I really think people should stop acting all Doom's Day about this, as one promotion and a few kids meal toys do not equal The End Of Bionicle. Not at all. Bionicle is still going really strong, and just those two things will not send it crashing down. The only thing that would send it crashing down is "4+ Bionicle" Picture this: 6 Piece Toa figures and 12 Piece Titans! That's a true picture of The End Of Bionicle. ;-) Either that, or a storyline that is like Free the Band, only offical and real. X-D -
If it's an idol, than why does it have a ladder? Methinks it is an Islander watchtower to alert the village to attacks from the Pirates that have come here for buried treasure! Arg! BTW, I really like it, Aredhel! Great for your first Pirate MOC! *y*

Thanks a lot legomilk. I actually like all of these (aside from the monkey), despite them being 3rd time repeats. I love the F-14 style jet, and the house is marvelous. The car is okay, not too bad, and the x-pods all have good models, except for that....monkey? It looks nothing like a monkey! *wacko* The true value of these kits, is (as always) awesome parts in huge quanities! Many fans will no doubt still be picking up these to add some great parts to their parts bins for an affordable prices, IMO. BTW, did anybody notice the new wheels on the car kit? ;-)
-
What the small 2007 kits look like when pixelized. I know Eurobricks usually ignores stuff like this, but for those who are intetested, there you go. It was pretty quick work, but you can easily identify each one (only a dummy could not tell them apart after looking at the set pictures! X-D ), and they have a good amount of detail. BTW, I am really sick of waiting for the Barraki. When are we going to get some pictures so I have something new to gape at and sprite? *wacko* ~~END~~

Aren't the 2 related? :-P

Hey, no need to be so rude! ;-) I really had no idea that Greg confirmed that there were only four, which does makes me kind of dissapointed. Oh well, still loving the new tools and masks. ;-)
