  1. Sometimes I wish I was like you and most everyone else here, Tryanide, since you guys are able to buy a lot more sets than I can. Not that I'm being greedy or anything, but because of my tight budget I only can buy sets that I'm sure I'll be happy with, causing me to think over my wishlists so many times it sends my head spinning. *wacko* :-P
  2. Eh, what can I say. X-D Doesn't mean I'm refuting my positions on previous years or that I won't like the STORYLINE, but seriously, I haven't felt this angry about lego since Galidor - which Bionicle set design kinda seems to be heading towards now! (Well, the matoran anyway.) :-| That's exactly what I've been thinking since we saw those catalog pictures a month or so ago. *y* Thanks for suggesting that, but I don't really think it will change my mind. Now, I may still like BZP, but I've noticed that in general they seem very positive about Bionicle in general, even more so than necessary. For example, every time a new deal has come out for Bionicle Heroes Wii, they highly encourage members to go buy it as fast as they can. Unfortunatley, they completely leave out that it's being marked down so much because TT games totally mangled the camera in that version, making it so frusterating to play that it's not even worth it. This is what it is like all around there, and the fact that Greg F, an official representative of TLC, is on there, may have something to do with the extreme postiveness. :- / Eh, I'm not so sure about that. Like Visorak-Kal said, he probably meant it in a figurative state, not literally, like "Ababbababgocodoo." I think it might actually be interesting if handled right, seeing a sentinet mask try to understand how true beings think and act. ;-)
  3. 2 words: Utter devastation. :-X Bionicle has hit a new record low for me. The 2008 lineup has to be the absolute worst lineup we've had since 2001. I'm not just rambling on, I'm serious. >:-( First of all, the Makuta stink PERIOD. Besides extremely boring designs and ugly masks (other than Antroz), their total design is thrown into the sewer via those awful chest balls filled with strange little spiders. The body pieces themselves are so junorized that I see no uses for them PERIOD. And that comes from a guy that likes the Piraka bodies and Inika feet. Chirox and Antroz are boring enough, with their incredibly simplistic designs, but Vamprah really takes the cake: his design is so thrown together that he has no feet - just little poker things. Worse, they've gone TWO steps backward from the Barraki and Mahri, not only eliminating system bits but almost any technic pieces whatsoever. And their weapons are so predictable - just more stabber things that have far less uses than all the awesome tools we got last year. The only good things about these guys are the two colored wings and Antroz's mask, but those are not enough to warant a purchase from me. *n* Then there's the Toa Nuva, or what's left of them. Despite the fact that I now accept their total distinction from their previous forms, the designs themself are just BLAH. Kopaka is just an Inika with a normal head, simplistic wings, and a bayonete. But therin lies the flaw: Kopaka is the most underarmed toa since the original Pohatu. He has one weapon: a "zamor-cordak" launcher, with a little ice blade attached. How is he supposed to stand a chance against 3 crazy makutas with blades galore if he can't even melee attack at all? Pohatu is even worse, eliminating hands for crazy propeller thingys that seem to be built directly into his arms. Oh, and his design is totally blah, lacking any new inovation except for the crazy propellers. Lewa is the only Phantoka I might even CONSIDER buying, but only because he has lime chest armor, okay blades, and an interesting mask. But his design suffers from the same lack of inovation or features that Kopaka has. And don't say that his back armor counts, because as far as I'm concerned it's a problem that we've NOT had back armor until now, not a good thing that we do have it. But the biggest disapointment of all has to be the Av-Matoran. Simply put, they are <insert that tiresome argument> so badly they probably have less than 15 pieces each. The legs and arms are one piece, the bodies one piece, and the heads probably are the most complex part of the design! This is such a step backwards from the AMAZING Mahritoran that it goes behind the Rahaga, Voyatoran, Matoran and even the Metruan in terms of simplicity. The only small sets more <insert that tiresome argument> that this are the Tohunga, and they were free promos you got in MCdonalds happy meals! For free, I'd take any bionicle set instantly, but the fact that I have to pay 5 dollars to get 15 pieces of <insert that tiresome argument> POOP's (note: that is the acronym Piece with Only One Purpose) makes me want to scream: RIPOFF! (note: that is NOT an acronym). >:-( Since the good guy Av-Matoran have nice masks, feet, and weapons, though, I'll probably get all of them, but the infected Matoran's masks are so UGLY that I won't buy any of them. Oh, and then there's the Toa Ignika, which I will most certainly pass on. If I was a constant MOC'er, I would probably purchase him to completely soup him up, but since I'm not, I can't justify buying a silver armored, Ignika wearing Hewkii on a stupid hoverboard. :-| Okay, need I say that these are my very angry opinions? :-P But seriously, I can't believe how far they've gone backward from 2007, and yet here we are with a lineup that finally really has brought out the hate within me. The Piraka and Inika have nothing on this crud! :-X
  4. Ah yes, those legit pictures posted on BZP. Fact is, I was hoping ever since the prototype pictures in the dealers catalog came out that the Phantoka might look better when quality pictures came out, but alas nothing has changed. I think it's really those dumb belly housed energy balls that kills the whole line - WHOSE idea was THAT? :-| On the positive side, Antroz's mask looks great, and I'm not so upset about the Toa Nuva now that we know about the orgin of their new looks. Climate adapting armor suits that cover over their old armor? Very cool! *sweet* Unfortunately, Kopaka suffers from a serious lack of weaponry. No shield, no sword, just one of those crud-launchers. That makes him worse than Kongu - only launchers and not an extra one to conpensate for his lack of melee weapons. |-/ Then there's Pohatu: I don't like the mask that much, but I REALLY don't like his weapons: those propeller thingys have to be the worst idea for a non launcher weapon ever. Not because they aren't bad for attacking, but because they are his only method of flying, meaning when he's in the air, he can't attack at all without falling to the ground. :-| Rant over for now. :-P
  5. Yeah, I mentioned that in my rant on the first page. ;-) Seriously, though, how much more can they do with Shrek without making it stupid and/or pointless? Oh, I forgot, they already did do that with Shrek 3. :-P I think that's a given on Eurobricks. Everyone here basically has very strong opinions, which is not wrong at all. What varries is HOW strong they get when talking to other people.... :-P Truth is, I really have a grudge against Transformers because they really could have shown some restraint in terms of what the characters said, and what was shown. Seriously, it's been done before. Look at the Spiderman movies. These movies were awesome to watch and yet there was barely any swearing, sex, or other junk. Basically they only got PG-13 ratings because of violence. With that way of handling it, they made them suitable for young and old, and I wouldn't be upset at all about showing my 10 year old son them if I had one. What's more is that making Transformers much more mature kind of betrayed the goodness all the classic cartoons had. Since when before this did you hear the S word ten times or hear dirty jokes in Transformers shows and movies? They seriously could have not put all that stuff in it, and I'm sure that would have made a lot of people happier, especially parents that had to disapoint their kids by not allowing them to see the movie due to bad content. :-/
  6. You're seriously crazy. Who in their right mind buys 20 of the same set when they can get 20 different sets, all which are a better value? :-P Okay, so I guess it's more that a teenager with limited funds like me has enough trouble getting ONE of every set he wants. X-D
  7. Er, let me see.... Jaller Mahri Nuparu Mahri Hydraxon Maxilos and Spinax Skeleton Prison Carriage Mars Mission Landing Craft Exo Force Golden Tower Assault And one or two other smaller sets, but I can't remember them. :-P
  8. Since both I and Batbrick were knocked out, I again supported Hewkii9 and his superbly original vig. ;-) Rule of thumb: force powers won't get you everywhere, especially when your opponent has the higher ground and the lower ground is a pool of steaming lava. X-D
  9. And your point? Seriously, it's not wrong to make merchandise and sell it. You act like it's a crime that Disney is so powerful in the market, when the fact is that they have been around so long that it's nearly impossible for them not to have a major claim in the movie market. I mean, Disney has been around, say 80 years, so why do you act like they have no right to be more powerful than Dreamworks, who has been around, like, 20 years. Also, I really don't buy all this "rip-off" stuff as much as you do. The Lion King, maybe, The Wild, most assuredly, but movies like Ratoullie and A Bugs life aren't ripoffs of Flushed Away and Antz because aside from animal species, they have basically nothing in common. I mean, even the animation style can't be compared! And also, I think Disney did a far better job on them than Dreamworks did. Not surprising considering they were made by Pixar. :-) I don't get what you're saying. You act like it's wrong for Disney to make lots of sequels and advertise characters again and again, and yet you are fine with 3 more Shrek sequels. *wacko* Seriously, you can't say that it's wrong for Disney to advertise their movies like crazy. They're paying for the advertisements, so they have the right to show them as much as they want. And it's not like Dreamworks doesn't do the same thing. I mean, a MC'D's Shrek happy meal to celebrate a DVD LAUNCH? Give me a break. :-| Also, who says the movies Disney makes are CRAP? You say, but you're opinion is not FACT, and neither is mine, which personally loves many of the Disney movies (especially ones made by Pixar). Really though, when you go to a Disney movie, you shouldn't always expect it to make perfect sense or to be actually serious. Meet the Robinsons, for example, is a lighthearted movie with little realism, so moviegoers who like their movies either total comedy or total epic won't like it. But a lot of moviegoers don't care, and thus Meet the Robinsons has gotten good reviews overall. Suckered? How can they be suckered if they said they enjoyed it and gave it 77/100? :-/ On the other hand, mass advertising of obviously mature films to pre-adolsecents is totally wrong to me. Take Transformers, for example. The movie has a lot of stuff most wouldn't want their 8 year old seeing, and yet we have action figures, coloring books, stickers, voice changers, and so many other things aimed at the young audience. Obviously the moviemakers hoped that kids would take their children to the movie and get hooked on their toys as well, but in the process they saw a ton of swearing, dirty jokes, and other stuff that parents shouldn't be actively encouraging their kids to see and use. Okay, that's enough for now from me. :-P
  10. Exactly my thoughts. What is this MIB thing about, anyway? *wacko* Oh, and Vamprah looks just as ugly as before to me. Something tells me this year is going to be light on Bionicle purchases for me.... :-P
  11. Watched most of the network TV premier of the Incredibles. I never get tired of watching Pixar movies over and over again.... *sweet*
  12. Trust me, it's not. ;-)
  13. Are you kidding me? That is my second favorite Pixar movie, and the writing and script didn't sound bad to me at all! *wacko* Actually, I love all the Pixar movies, especially the above, Ratatouille, and of course the Toy Story series. Now, before you go "Fanboy!" I have enjoyed several Dreamworks movies as well. Over the Hedge and Robots were decent, and I love the claymation hits that their substudio brings out (Chicken Run for the WIN! *sweet* ). I just am getting tired of Dreamworks focusing on lame sequels instead of making lots of new stuff like Pixar. >:-(
  14. Same here! Mars Mission had some great stuff as well as some bad stuff, but overall I liked it and also though it deserved a second, smaller year (though, not as small as the 2006 vikings, of course |-/ ). This looks like a pretty decent set. 8 orange wheels, cool alien jetpack, and yet another old windshield recolored in the new trans-orange. I might just pick this up someday... tk's Hinckley! ;-)
  15. Nope, sorry, but as much as we'd all like that, it ain't gonna happen. Greg confirmed that the back page teaser was just done by the chief art director at lego or something. They have no confirmination on a new artist yet. :-( Actually, I've liked all the artwork up until 2006. Sayger had some awesome background and effect design, but his character designs have never been the best. Look at the Piraka spines and Umbra, or what was supposed to be representing them in the comics. I think this year it just got worse, and the finer lines of 2006 were gone, replaced with drawings comparable to early sketches, NOT finished art. *sad*
  16. And the big one: Sayger is gone, baby! .... Okay, so that was pretty harsh. But seriously (boy I say that a lot), I lost all faith in him after they mutilated vakama in the last scene of the latest comic. It's unfortunate, as the scene above showed he can do good work if he wants to. Seems he just gave up trying to make a nice comic, though. :-/
  17. Oh boy, another anti-bionicle topic. Seriously, did you guys even expect anything to be like the 2001 promos? The MCtoran are one of a kind, and you rarely see anything of that quality at a fast food place. Also, I really dislike how bionicle haters are using yet another topic to say "bionicle is crud." If you want to say something, don't repeat yourself dozens of times! >:-(
  18. I know there's a lot of anti Disney thinking going around this board, while I personally like them and dislike Dreamworks. As for Shrek, seriously, I though the first movie was okay, but I didn't even bother with the second, and the third was too much. Now I look on good old Wikipedia, and low and behold, Dreamworks is making a Shrek 4, or SHREK GOES 4TH, as they call it. Look, there's more: a Shrek 5 for 2013! And this Christmas you can witness Shrek the Holdays, a 30 minute special just for TV! And now the clincher: Puss in Boots, a spin-off about the fighting cat that links 4th and 5th together in one epic franchise! :-X Okay, this is from wikipedia, so it might not be true, BUT if it is, I really don't have respect for Dreamworks anymore. Can't they make something besides some lame ogre related movie based on their biggest hit? I mean, they even made a Shrek 3-D back a while ago! Will this ever end? :-| Just my thoughts.... ;-)
  19. In daylight, or at night? I could do that in daylight, but doing it at night until 5 in the morning would be seriously bad for my condition in the next few days. *wacko*
  20. Well, we did get some different colored Piraka and Inika weapons last year, although since most of them were pretty mediocre, that doesn't really matter. We also got those sweet golden chronicler staffs in brutaka... *wub* I guess silver might just be an easier color to produce or something, but maybe TLC thinks that kids don't care what color weapons are - which is probably true. *wacko* Hey, we've gotten other things too. Barraki especially; we got 2 types of unique claws, tentacles, tri-blades, and Takadox's stabbers. And some of the mahri weapons aren't swords either; look at Matoro and Hahli, and of course Nuparu. :-)
  21. Er, I meant minifig scale, not Maxifig. 8-| :-P To me the Rescue Helecopter of 2006 really nailed everything. Great color scheme, modern and sleek design, lots of features and detail, awesome rotor blades and landing gear, etc. This new helecopter is cool as well, but I think the color scheme and the juniorization of the tail kinda brings it down a bit for me. :-/
  22. I was going to post this myself, but my access to the computer was momentairly delayed, so you guys beat me to it. :-P Anyway, this looks pretty nice. The color scheme is a bit weird and once again they used the big airplane tail part, but it still is a pretty nice set (life raft and the shark are nice additions. :-) ). I dissagree with Yoda about the old helecopter, though: I seriously think that is the best lego helecopter ever designed. *wub*
  23. Batbrick and Hewkii9. ;-)
  24. The Batmobile II, from The Batman on Kids WB: I don't know about you, but I think that has to be the sweetest Batmobile design I've ever seen. Perfect melding of sleek bat-like design and modern tech. Now, before somebody says "Tumbler!" I must say that while it is cool, I don't really like the way the Batman Begins movie related things are in general. Sure, it was a great movie, but all the storyline kinda was a bit off from what I would have liked in the Batman orgin. Come on, Ra's Ah Ghoul as a main villian? That's a bit lame considering how many other villians there are. Oh, and Scarecrow completely stinks in that movie. They take a creepy masked villian with extreme fear releated plots - and they turn him into a buisnessman with a potato sack over his head. :-| Whoops, this was supposed to be about favorite film/tv cars, wasn't it? :-D
  25. Well, I have only one thing to say after that: they BETTER have Batgirl and Commisoner Gordon. Oh, and Harley, and Clayface, and anyone else that TLC didn't make in the first and dinky second waves. ;-)
