Soulcalibur IV to feature vader and yoda!!!
Zarkan replied to mutley777's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Okay, putting Link in the gamecube version of the previous Soul Calibur was one thing, but this is just FREAKY. *wacko* Still, it's pretty cool, and I'm sure a lot of starwars fans will buy the games just for those exclusive characters. I guess that's all it is then: a marketing ploy. :-P -
I'm trying to figure out why you used all that "coolz" language. Was it because you just don't like the story, or because you were making a reference to the previous poster's rushed grammar? Or was it because of some other reason that I didn't suggest? *wacko*

Thanks guys! :-) Actually though, my birthday this year was unusual because I didn't get a single lego kit. ....what, you say? I didn't get any lego's this year because I may not be getting many after my birthday either. I asked only for money this year, because I'm trying to save up to get a Nintendo Wii, my dream system. Once Gamestop gets them in near the end of the month, I'll probably be buying one, but that also means there won't be a lot of lego purchases for a while. :-( Ah well, everybody's got to sacrifices... :-P Anyway, I DID get Walmart and Borders gift cards from my friends, so I'll probably use them to get at least one more lego set and the latest Bionicle books. I WAS going to have a sleepover yesterday, but one of my friends got sick and we postponed it until later. So instead, my other friends came over and we played the Wii that one of them brought. Man, that was a blast, even though my friend creamed us all at everything. X-D So, all in all it was a great birthday. *y*

There's another one: in The Batman/Superman Story Part 2, from the current Kids WB show, Batman fights and eventually beats Superman, who is possessed by a kryptonite dust/Poison Ivy mind control spore hybrid that Lex Luthor exposed him to. Made for a great episode, and I bet even some dislikers of that show would enjoy the fight. ;-) Anyway, these new kits are looking pretty good, but I'm dismayed that we still probably won't get a Gordon or Batgirl minifig. Come on, we need those people to help the bats fight crime in Lego Gotham City! >:-(
-
Great picture-full reviews as always, yoda. ;-) Sadly, these kits seem to be overpriced. The Mail Van isn't so bad, and I may pick it up a lot later in the year, but the Plane only has 88 pieces, yet it costs 14.99 USD. Now, I'm all for a $10 price, but 15? That's a lot of money for a dinky plane, even though it is awesome. |-/

That's exactly how my Walmart is right now! A bunch of Nuparu and Matoro Mahri canisters, a few boxed sets, but barely anything overall, let alone anything NEW. Needless to say, I got my new Av-Matoran from Target. :-| However, my walmart DOES have shelf tags showing that they will get the new kits in... EVENTUALLY. |-/ Strangely, your anology is kinda close to the truth, since it is designed as a reward/punishment system to help control all the tons of 8-10 year olds on the board, who often crowd out the sincere teenage member minority. :-P Fortunately, the LGD sub-forum is not nearly as bad as most of the other areas, as most of the younger members don't post there at all. X-D At first, I couldn't even tell that those WERE matoran legs. The design's so bad, I thought that they were extra arms for Spiriah. :-P
-
I bet GregF and the story team are as clueless as we are. Blame it on the set designers at ol' TLC for making everything even more difficult for everyone. :-| Oh, and I got Tanma today. He's okay, but I really didn't expect much from him. I'll see if I can do a review. ;-) ~~END~~
-
Eh, not really as much as what BZP believes, but what TLC believes. After all, BZP DOES have direct connections to the lego corp, as they really are the only site that can boast having the bionicle story writer and a couple other bionicle/lego employes as members. Break the connection by posting leaked pictures, and BOOM, everything they have that other forums don't is gone. :-( Besides, they do actually have a fair amount of exclusives, like the Toa Tuyet story, contests that make the winners parts of the oficial storyline, and major storyline breakthroughts. ;-) And hey, I'm a regular member of both Eurobricks and BZP, and I would still be posting if it wasn't for that dreaded virus. :-X\ Wait - feaderation of fear? Oh man, Bioniclestory is updated! *goes off to read story*

Would you like to see Bionicle expanded into SPACE??
Zarkan replied to johnsocal's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Actually, at least on this issue, I DO agree with most of the stuff directly relating to the actual topic title. Space would be a very bad direction for Bionicle, in my opinion, although since I'm not a young kid, I can't say whether the main target audience would agree. They'd probably love it. :-/ -
Would you like to see Bionicle expanded into SPACE??
Zarkan replied to johnsocal's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Hm, this is tough. It seems that every time you post something responding to member, you have to either say it in a sarcastic way, or say a joke statement that you don't really mean. Now, I'm all for friendly joking, but it SEEMS that you aren't being friendly at all, and it SEEMS that you do these sarcastic comments and stuff for no reason. This, is of course, from what I SEE you saying, but since you are not me, you may not understand the situation. I have a mental disorder called Aspbergers (not quite the correct spelling, but how it sounds when you say it), Darkness, and while it does not hinder my posting abilities as much as you might think, it does make me look at things more literally. Thus, your "trick" posts can really cause me problems, since I can't quite even tell what you're saying. I want to have a good discussion with you, and all the other people here, Darkness, so could you at least post what you REALLY mean, instead of making sarcastic comments and statments that you don't really believe? :-/ But, this brings me to the whole reason I posted here in the first place. Whatever opinions we have on this forum, the fact remains that Lego, and especially Bionicle, are kids toys. When I mean kids, I mean the 8-12 year olds that are TLC's main focus group for Bionicle. They are the ones TLC is marketing Bionicle to, and whether or not you may like it, you, Helden, Darth Vader, Jinzo, and all the other adult bionicle lovers here are NOT the majority of bionicle lovers. Now, you may say that TLC betrayed it's greatest fans when they moved away from the 2001 style, but the fact is that even back then you were not the main focus. The focus group has always been the current kid generation. This means, though, that I am not in the majority either, since I am a teenager, and Bionicle is aimed at pre-teens. You have to realize that when TLC created bionicle way back in 2001, they weren't expecting guys like Jinzo to suddenly fall in love with it. Even if some teens enjoyed it back then, TLC logically expected that in 6 years or so they would have become adults and moved onto other things, like cars, college, full time jobs, and girls. You can't really expect TLC to think that barely any adults would like Bionicle, a childs toy, well into their 20's, and from a marketing and profit sense, it makes no sense at all to focus on what pleases the few adult lovers of bionicle far more than the wants of kids. That's why Bionicle has guns in it: because kids these days like guns. But hey, even the 2002 Exo-Toa had an electro missile on it, and I have yet to hear a single complaint about that obvious gun. :-P Um, did I say that you said that I hated 2001? This is not meant to be sarcastic, I seriously want to know, since I can't tell where you got that from. :-/ But, if you are only stating your opinions, fine. I guess it might just go back to the problem I stated in the first two paragraps of this post. I guess from now on I just need to read the posts I "see" as factual as just opinions. :-) -
Would you like to see Bionicle expanded into SPACE??
Zarkan replied to johnsocal's topic in LEGO Action Figures
...That is small minded? So, using reverse logic, being large-minded and inteligent is being uncaring about what anyone says about you, your hobbies, other people, or anything else in the world. :-| Oh, and your comments are peaceful? I've read some of the things you've said, Darkness, and they sure don't sound nice and accepting. Saying that someone has "caught the case of the stupid" for disagreeing with your opinion isn't exactly nice, no? :-/ Besides, you're missing the entire point I've been trying to make. If you want to bash bionicle and GregF, fine, but doing it in a factual sense is just dumb, since opinions about toys and other non-important stuff are equal as long as they are written inteligently. Saying that "Bionicle is awful" and other things in an "This is fact" manor isn't nice discussion, it's being rude and refusing to respect other opinions. And no, it doesn't matter that many of the members here are not adults. Example: Who would be smarter and more welcome here on a discussion forum: an inteligent and mature 12 year old boy or a 24 year old that stays at his parrents home and spends his days watching TV and eating junk food? And no, that was not meant to be realistic or reflective of anything we've talked about, but just as an illustration. Um, I didn't say that at all. Stop putting words into my mouth! Fact is, I actually wasn't into Bionicle until 2004, and didn't know the storyline until a year later. Now, that doesn't mean that I have no right to discuss 2001, as I've played the MNOG, read all the comics, and researched every area to familiarize myself with the years I missed out of. I like the sets and storyline from that era, but I just like other years later. Besides, you once again seem to think I am attacking you for saying that you love. 2001 and hate so and so years. FALSE. I'm simply raising the point that this topic is filled with crazy "factual opinion" talk that seems to think that there is only one real viewpoint: 2001 good. 2005+ and GregF bad. End of story. Don't call me simple minded, as there are legitamite arguments for saying that people that think their opinions about toys are fact are simple minded. Can you please not mangle my posts and say that I'm saying things that I am not? |-/ -
What game are we playing at the moment?
Zarkan replied to Mr Hobbles's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Just got 100% on Bionicle Heroes for the second time. My birthday's coming up soon, so I'll be playing a lot of non-stop Smashbros with my friends on that day for sure. ;-) I was going to try to get a Wii for my birthday with my money and the money my parents set aside for birthday presents, but the evil shortages are making that beyond impossible. |-/ -
Last Movie I watched was Back to the Future: the original. It was good and funny, but it seems that whoever wrote the script was thinking along the lines of this: "Hm, we got plenty of swears here, but look- this scene doesn't have any! Better add a few expletives here, oh and maybe another here! Hm, this one's perfect! Enough swears to keep the audience hooked for a while!" In other words, it's like the random and non-sensical placement of swears in Transformers, only worse. :-| Good thing that Part III actually had some sense about this issue... :-/

SW Clone Wars tv series first pic revealed.....
Zarkan replied to Vader's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Er, the image isn't working for me for some reason... is there another place where I can see it? :-/ -
Cool, thanks Rayg! ;-) Woah, all these web serials really sound cool! They sure beat these lame summer kits we've seen... |-/

Would you like to see Bionicle expanded into SPACE??
Zarkan replied to johnsocal's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Well, with the crazy Sonic phantoms *ahem* air vehicles, I'd kinda agree to an extent. However, since the sets always come first, not story, they may be the reason why the storyline is so different, NOT Greg. Possibly TLC is the one trying something new, and greg has nothing to do with it? :-/ -
Would you like to see Bionicle expanded into SPACE??
Zarkan replied to johnsocal's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Who's small minded? By saying that it's a fact that new opinions are not as good as Nostalgia, you are looking at everything one sided. I do NOT have a small minded look at things. I read over many of the longer posts in this topic, and I happen to disagree with them. In my opinion, a year with no story would be a disaster, and would rip the heart out of Bionicle. I also disagree that the storyline is far more terible than the storyline of 2001. It's just different. Which brings me to another point: many of you love the MNOG to death, as I've noticed, and although I agree that it is a great work of Bionicle, I would not want the people who worked on it to write the storyline of Bionicle today. Why? In my OPINION, while the storyline was great, the actual character development and personalities were almost non existant. Most of the dialogue was meant to inform you of your surroundings, thus very little of it sounded like it was spoken by different villagers. Ga-Matoran and Onu-Matoran sounded alike, and all the Le-Matoran villagers sounded like each other. Worse, even in the times of chaos, the villagers didn't convey any emotion to me. :-/ The bionicle books, on the other hand, have a lot of character in them, IMO. Many of the characters have unique personalities, like Dalu, who breaks the usual nice Ga-Matoran routine, and Matoro, who matures throughout the 2006-2007 storyline and finally realizes he is worth as much as the other Toa. Also, the books have a dark sense of humor, which was totally non-existant in the MNOG. Things like this make me like Greg F's writing better than the MNOG writing. Which brings me to a third point: many of you guys seem to wish Greg F had never been part of Bionicle, and wish he was banished from it forever. But, like many of the criticisms aimed at George Lucas of Starwars, you guys don't realize how hard these guys work. Greg F. wrote the Bionicle comics of every year, including 2001's comics. He also wrote the Bionicle Adventures series, which even Ravensburg seems to like. Some people call George Lucas arrogant, and he may be, but back before Starwars IV premiered, he suffered through a lot of depression and overstressed work, and that is hard on a guy. Whether you like or dislike their writing, you have to admit that they do work hard. ;-) Now, is that small minded, Falls? |-/ -
Would you like to see Bionicle expanded into SPACE??
Zarkan replied to johnsocal's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I did not say that at all. You totally misread me, Falls. :-| I didn't say that I AM hardcore either. I simply said that I have a differing opinion from many of the people here, as does Visorak Kal and other members, and that you guys seem to ignore that other opinions are just as valid as yours. Everyone in this topic is saying things like "the storyline STINKS," and "Bionicle is a Disaster." You guys might as well put the word "Fact" before all of those generic comments, since you seem to think that they are, indeed, fact. Of course, I could be misreading you guys, just as Darkness did me. I don't know for sure what you guys are thinking, so maybe this is just a big misunderestanding. But I'm not so sure... |-/ -
Would you like to see Bionicle expanded into SPACE??
Zarkan replied to johnsocal's topic in LEGO Action Figures
.... this thread has gotten me more angry than I possibly ever have about lego in my life. And it doesn't have to do with the original topic "space bionicle." It has to do with the fact of how arrogant people in this thread are becoming. Seems that in all this lust for the old days of bionicle, people are forgetting that their views aren't absolute and that their might possibly be a different view point that isn't crud. >:-( Okay guys, when did the world suddenly declare that your ideas and views on what Bionicle shoudl be are RIGHT, and all other ideas are either childish or incoherent. Just because you religiously love 2001 and zealously hate 2005+ does NOT mean that your opinion is any better than someone who religiously loves all of Bionicle. It seems that people are forgetting that there are inteligent people that love 2006, 7, 8, and everything having to do with them. Look at Visorak-Kal. Is he a little child because he loves 2007 the best and doesn't mind the set design. Am I a immature kid because I like GregF's writing a lot and enjoy all the epic complexity of the storyline? (which may be in part because I am sort of a geek) Why is it that you guys think you are the best fans of Bionicle and you know what is best for the line? You may be zealous fans, but that doesn't necessarily mean your ideas would help Bionicle. For all you know, they might make sales plummet and only please you and your small core of adult bionicle lovers. You guys don't get it: Bionicle is for KIDS! And kid's intrests have been changing a LOT. Kids like guns. Kids like action figures. Kids like lots of action. Why then is it a crime for TLC to put those things in their theme just because you, adults with a kids toy as your hobby, hate what they are doing? :-| Maybe I'm mistaken. Maybe you really respect the differing opinions. But from what it looks like, you guys all think that your opinions are fact, at least from what I can tell in your writing. I want to actually hear some respecting discussion. But all I hear is one sided talk blasting everything you dislike and acting like you are the REAL fans, and everyone who disagrees or is on BZP is not. And that just sickens me. :-X -
Great. Two more mediocre canister sets. :-| BTW, when I think of the new umbrella Mistika, it comes out kinda like "Mestinka." X-D Oh, and guys, I can't access BZP right now due to their virus problems, so I'd like to know what Greg is saying, since it looks like a lot of new storyline info is surfacing. Could anyone help me out? ;-)
-
.... Er, woah. I am just stunned. Unfortunately, I can't really tell if it is in a good or bad way. :-/ I give props to TLC for making technic full kits again, even though the titans we have got still had technic in them, but it seems that now every Toa like figure must have a giant, big engined vehicle. VERY weird.... |-/ 8941: The worst of the vehicles, no doubt. And what's with a pohatu lookalike on a LIME vehicle? :-X colorscheme. 8942: Best of the vehicles, and - is that Tahu? What a weird mask... 8943: Vehicle is okay, but that rider is just AWESOME. That should have been what Lewa should have been, as his mask looks just like a Miru Nuva 2.0! *wub* 8698: Piece of plastic crud. :-X 8699: *gasp* a decent Titan? 8-
-
What? *wacko* I totally disagree! The Mahri had some of the greatest canister set designs ever, IMO, and the Phantoka were just really lame compared to them. :-/ And that would probably bring the total bones jokes to about 10 on these forums. Seriously, I'd like to see some serious BZP post quotes that justify making him out to be evil or something, because I've read a lot of his stuff and he's a pretty great guy, IMO. Besides, even he has said that he can be wrong like everyone else, UNLIKE some people seem here sometimes. *sad* Oh, I didn't know that the lego site was updated! Man, got to check it out! *sweet*

Man, those kids on BZP need to calm down. Glad to see Greg's taken care of everything over there. This post in his blog replies was great: :-D
