  1. It appears to be some sort of rubber.
  2. The only problem I see is building them as ridable. The reindeer are built with two 6x1x2 arches, but to do that for rams one would have to sacrifice ridability for shorter figured, i.e. dwarves.
  3. Yeah, Deathleech is right. Armoured Sauron wouldn't have really been out of place. That being said, I love the necromancer fig. He's very simple, but looks nice and is a good representation of the character, albeit the one from aUJ.
  4. I personally only really dislike decals when they don't resemble LEGO's own style. For characters that we might not get, like Alfrid, I may end up making a custom with decals, but I don't think fans being able to make decald should be any sort of excuse to not put a figure in a set...
  5. I personally don't believe LotR is over. It only got two waves, and I think that LEGO would milk it for a bit more. I think that there wasn't a wave this year because this year's Hobbit sets are being released in October, and LotR's been previously released midsummer. I expect there to be at least another wave next year. Okay, I'm not really on topic, sorry about that.
  6. Sorry? Yes, please. Ditto. Aren't they, though? XD
  7. BUTTON LADY!
  8. Me too. I think they're clever and fun. As for the bell tower not having the windlance in the film, I've had a sort of idea. As much as I want a brick-built windlance, what if Bard ends up with the windlance destroyed and has to resort to firing it from his bow? Just an thought I had a couple of months ago. It appears that "EREBOR*THRER" is correct.
  9. Yeah, if moulded in dark brown and the eyes were given similar printing to the one in the video game, that would make an excellent Beorn. The only main difference I think a specially moulded be bear would have would be Beorn's hair plume-y thing, also like in the video game.
  10. I do to. I remember enjoying the one two years ago a lot.
  11. Ditto. I feel like this wave will end up being really good...
  12. Yeah, I have to say, I really want an Alfrid minifig.
  13. Yeah, the last time I watched the teaser I noticed two moving figures on the sides of Balin. I guess it sort of makes sense we have them together.
  14. Mm...thanks Deathleech. I couldn't remember their names. All I could come up with was "Death goat". I personally want to see Thorin's king variant with the crown. The simple armoured one would be cool (And probably more so with a breastplate), but I want a Thorin hairpiece with the crown. It's improbable that it will happen, but it would be awesome. I really like these comparisons. Great job! I'm not even going to... And that ten-minute action sequence will be flipping awesome.
  15. Lake-town has a guard force, but they have fish-hats, and the elves have gold armour in the trailer. The ones with Bard do, anyway.
  16. Wait, is that Dori riding it? Oh, I see the goats now... (I thought they were ponies...) So many armies...I love how different and distinctive they all are, but even the Dol Guldur orcs are super organized.
  17. There's a cart-y chariot-y thing that I can't tell who's driving it. I saw red, so I assumed Bilbo, but Bilbo doesn't wear red in this movie... Anyways, maybe we'll see this (or something like it) in the BotFA set? WHAT? I didn't notice that! *goes to watch for seventh time*
  18. I think that's the stuff that really gets to me on this thread..=/ Honestly, though. Have you looked at this thing? Yes, the moulds are very Smaug specific, and the colour is a bit off, but I'm fine with that. It may be small in comparison to film Smaug, but it is a good smaller replica. I cannot wait to get my hands on it. I think it is the best quality and most detailed dragon LEGO has produced. What struck me most during my first viewing of DoS was "Wow, this is NOT LotR...", but after watching again I realized how great that was. I do prefer the visuals in TH, but I fully understand why LotR is darker, and I like that each film encapsulates the tone through the colour scheme. I love it when films do that. Yeah, I'm actually planning on buying The Lonely Mountain full-price to support LEGO. I think the set deserves my money. It's strange to me how much fire the LotR theme has gone under on Eurobricks, because when I see each wave, I am very much impressed by the quality of the sets and figures.
  19. I for one enjoyed the cartoon-y-ness of the action sequences. I love the dwarves' perfectly coordinated attacks and the elves being just as impossible. I don't really understand what's wrong with fantasy in a fantasy movie, really. Yeah, the molten gold thing was a bit weird, but legofreak86 has a point... I guess they could have hit him with one of the giant swinging hammers from the first movie, but you have to admit...the golden smaug was spectacular. They could have also tried the water attack. I mean, they sort of did, but as an end goal, not leading up to the moted gold. THANK YOU! This is something I had just figured out before coming to read this thread, but it still is just really...good. And back to Smaug, I never really realized that he didn't do a good job attacking the dwarves...but he did take out the dwarven armies in swarms and groups, so maybe fourtee-wait, no, ten little creatures running around the huge caverns were a lot harder to nab... And he'd been sleeping for a while...okay, maybe several weeks. He was probably still drowsy, and the gold thing woke him up. Or maybe the huge water attack before the gold thing... Ooh, I hope not. D=
  20. ...So close to the trailer that I can nearly taste it... I like this set. The Smaug figure, while small and a bit chunky, looks excellent in my opinion. The moulds and printing look amazing, and I am in love with the wing design. 9.5/10. The figures are great. While they are old characters, they are new variants that look very cool. 'Especially excited for the Bilbo. I think the green Dwalin axe looks super boss, and while I'll have to get used to the colour of Balin's mace, I love that he gets it. Fili and Kili seem like a slightly odd choice to put in, but I don't care that much. 9/10. The actual build, which could have been better, I agree with that, looks pretty good for me. I understand the splicing together of the throne chamber and the mines, and the aesthetic value is about 8.5/10 in my book, which is sightly lower than most LotR/Hobbit sets, but this will look good on my shelf AND be a lot of fun to play with, IMO, so even though it could have been better and larger, it still looks pretty dang cool. Yes, this set is WAAAAY overpriced, but by no means does that mean that I'm not picking this up as soon as I can. It'll be a great addition to my collection, and I think price of $129.99 isn't going to bother me for very long. Over all, 9/10.
  21. Last time I went to my local LEGO store, the service was really good. The people were quite helpful, and I actually had a very interesting conversation with one.
  22. Yeah, I'd love to see those kind of packs again. I'm actually considering putting up a rock-building parts pack and a tree building one of LEGO CUUSOO Ideas.
  23. While I think that the quality control is slipping a bit, I think that LEGO is still substantially better quality-wise than most toy brands. Also, I've only had problems with my LEGO heads. Sometimes the eyebrows are a bit off from the eyes, and just recently, I got The LEGO Movie Getaway glider, and the mouth of sheriff Not-a-robot has a nick in it.
