Thats pretty cool, dont see many lovecraft inspired mocs. I have been debating on wether to build a moc of Haunter Of The Dark with the od church. Good work.

Why havent they resurrected the robin hood series?
Derfel Cadarn replied to The Chronicler's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
And dont forget that theres a new big money version of Robin Hood coming out at the cinemas soon. Its being made by Ridley Scot and starring Russel Crowe. If its as good as gladiator, then robin hood is gonna be popular again and back in the limelight for a while. -
All very nice entries and a lot of talent, but slyowl and hinckley deffinitly do it for me SlyOwl - 2 Hinckley - 1

Thanks for the comments. The idea behind it was that it was once a castle that had fell into ruin, and then been taken over by a lord who uses it as a hunting lodge I dont mean to give the impression that i dont think its any good, I just ment that when i look at it now i can see lots of things that i would now do differently and change. Thanks again for the comments

Any Idea When the Next Pirate Sets will be announced?
Derfel Cadarn replied to Dr. Steve's topic in LEGO Pirates
Dont hold out on them releasing a new ship just yet, most probably be end of next year if they do. I expect there wil be a few more sets released end of this year or early next year, maybe an add-on for the soldiers fort. -
Im sure your port will turn out really well martin. The more you build mocs, the better you become - the better you become, the more you build mocs!

I allmost forgot about this one. Im very honered that its been put on the front page. Thankyou

Simply stunning. One of the best ive seen. Its amazing how good and realistic these moc ships are becoming. I'd love to build a port for that ship Excellent job!
-
A pic of a new moc im working on. Its about 20% complete so far and its part of my coastal layout. Ive been trying out the cobblestone effect to see what works best. Feedback welcome

What would you do with black epaulettes?
Derfel Cadarn replied to martinsuper's topic in Pirate MOCs

Space and Perspective: combination of minifig and micro scale
Derfel Cadarn replied to Bonaparte's topic in Pirate MOCs
A very interesting idea, havn't seen many people try this and it works very well. I like the windows on the micro ship, great job! -
This is really neat, lots of nice techniques on show, looks retro but new at the same time.

@Capt. Kirk, you certainly are a wealth of information on architecture! I deffinitly agree
-
Nice idea combining two town plan sets. The colours are good, havnt seen many using that colour. It will be nice to see the final port. Keep up the good work
-
Nice idea, but if its the 17th or 18th century look your going for, then those stock lego sets deffinitly look to modern, they dont have that old feel to them. Are you planning on rebuilding everything? Or are you going to use them as they are.

It all depends on interior or not. If im building a moc that can be viewed from all angles and inside, then i will stick with the same colours or pieces, or sometimes build another colour inside for interior. But if ive built a house that will only be seen from front views, then i usually build the back all in black pieces. As for raiding sets for parts, all the sets i own have all been dismantled and the pieces put in seperate colour coded boxes. I never use sets in mocs because the've allready been designed and made by someone Nowadays i dont even build the sets when i buy them, i just seperate the pieces. I did build the medievil market place, put took it apart the same day. Nice model, but theres so many better things you can do with the pieces. But thats me, its all down to the individual

I was never fooled of course, cant fool me My fake army could take out your fake army any day!
-
Nice ideas going on there. Its good to find a use for those captain torsos cause you allways end up with quite a few. Are you planning on making a big port? I'd like to create my dream port when i get the time. Nice work.

Oh yes, the British rule the waves Thats one hell of an army, a force to be reckoned with. Nice collection!

Steeple Brink Cove & 'Cruel Coppinger'
Derfel Cadarn replied to Derfel Cadarn's topic in Pirate MOCs
Is that a challenge? How about a 17th century fishing port, complete with village, lighthouse etc. All seems perfect in this village, but it hides a dark secret. An ancient curse is about to come true, and a legendary pirate will rise again! Maybe, or, seeing as im english, i should look at our own famous pirates. The rise of Bartholomew Roberts or Edward Teach. I dont know got a new moc on the way though, i will try my best to better it -
I remember coming across this ship on brickshelf and i allways thought it was darn good, one of my favourites. Excellent work my friend!

Steeple Brink Cove & 'Cruel Coppinger'
Derfel Cadarn replied to Derfel Cadarn's topic in Pirate MOCs
I would love to keep my moc's assembled, expecially the bigger ones. I know you can always get new bricks to build new mocs with, but as soon as i get any new bricks I always want to combine them with the ones ive used and see if i can make a bigger better moc. Plus, i mainly build quite large moc's and i would never have the space to put them and there would be too many bricks sitting around that i could be using. Port Gaverne is still assembled though, but only cause i originaly thought of adding to it, but now im thinking that the 'port gaverne' chapter is finished. So it looks like i'll be sending the pirate fleet in to destroy it -
Im pretty sure he was a castle builder, involved in the classic-castle forums i think. I remember him being in a castle contest, not sure what one though. Very good builder, I like the style of ship he made, dont see many moc ships from that era, reminds me of a Christopher Columbus style theme.

Steeple Brink Cove & 'Cruel Coppinger'
Derfel Cadarn replied to Derfel Cadarn's topic in Pirate MOCs
Thanks, I could probably could have left it assembled because i used mostly small ellements for this moc, expecialy in the stone wall and the house. However, Its allready been taken apart and all the pieces sorted back into their correct boxes - takes an age! I dont usually keep them assembled for long, usually take them apart the day after ive photographed them. Im always wanting to get on with the next moc as soon as I can, Ive allways got an idea on the go and I enjoy the build and seeing that idea come together
