  1. I was surprised that Redbeard and Ironhook had different names, because I had always assumed that one was just the other with a slight makeover. And there are enough parallels between the 2009 Pirates line and the original Pirates line to conclude that one took inspiration from the other. I think this poll is about minifigure design rather than character, though. So it's like, which Superhero figure do you like the best, and listing all the Batmans individually. I don't think the Minifigure 'Pirate Captain' is anyone but himself, though. He just has a lot of the same features because, how else are you going to represent a Pirate Captain?
  2. Sorry, I did a search for 'Emerald Night' but no one had actually used those words in the thread...
  3. Of course I like Redbeard most because he is from my childhood. Of the modern designs, I am going to have to say Brickbeard though.
  4. I couldn't find this anywhere, but I think it's worth posting. Don't tell anyone, but it wasn't actually the vindaloo I was eating that bought tears to my eyes.
  5. I had the same thought, and was in fact half-way through constructing an image exactly like this before I realised it might be misleading and people might think it represents the actual figure (look how often people skim these threads and jump to conclusions about pictures without reading the context). However this is definitely what I'm going to do with the torso. I am certain that the wig goes with this torso rather than the Judge, though, because if that were the case, it would be the only piece we have seen from series nine, and why would there be a particular exception for that? Also the wig seems to have a blue bow matching the colour of the uniform. I wonder if we'll see a British redcoat soldier in a future series... or maybe a Female Revolutionary Soldier. Given what we have seen of the Collectible Minifigures so far, it could go either way. (Seriously though, a Female Revolutionary Soldier would be awesome)
  6. You're right - it seems to be the Revolution Soldier from this list. However I am not going to hesitate to rebrand him a 'Bluecoat'.
  7. I think the Skydiver will come with a folding piece of cloth for the parachute. I also think the paintball guy will come with a 1x1 round brick for a paint cartridge to attach to the gun at the bottom peg there. Why do I think this? Because it is exactly what I predicted way back in this thread half a year ago.
  8. Brickset is a fansite, but one of their functions is to gather data like these images directly from the Lego website. As I said before, there is no question about their authenticity. Just where and when we will see them.
  9. Well here is mine... I really wanted to make the one with the Bluecoat, but have no idea what will go with it.
  10. Unfortunately these might be from series 10, we think. But they're definitely from one or the other because they were taken directly from the Lego website, so no chance of them being a hoax.
  11. It just occurred to me that grouping these two items together could be misleading. It looks like it will be a colonial officer with a powdered wig, which isn't necessarily the case. The powdered wig could be for the 'Judge' minifig mentioned, and not for this fig at all. If this 'Bluecoat' torso is like the previous Pirate Captain, it will come with traditional Bluecoat Soldier parts, like the tricorn/shako, rifle and epaulettes. Since these aren't new parts, they won't show up as being in zero sets.
  12. These have been found in the Brickset database, from future Collectible Minifigures: Powdered Wig Colonial officer/governor torso They probably don't belong in this thread because they definitely are aren't 'non-pirate', but I'm not going to make a new thread for them and this is where they fit in best. I prayed for Bluecoat soldiers, and here they are, although presuming the minifig comes with the wig rather than a soldier hat, all of the army builders are going to need to source their hats elsewhere. Also, not sure if the fig will come with epaulettes. Edit: Possibly the wig is supposed to go with the Judge minifigure rather than this torso. Seeing how the 'Pirate Captain' minifigure had all the traditional parts from classic Pirate captains, there's no reason to think this soldier won't be the same. Edit again: also the Tin soldier torso might be useful for some people:
  13. Awesome. I am so very excited for these in particular.
  14. I imagine 'blue shaded' will be the colour of the figures in these images. Also, who else thinks we will be seeing the 'golden award' in silver and bronze... assuming it is different from the one we have already seen.
  15. Green Grocer: The pram - family home The cat - pet shop The barbecue - appliance store The flowers - flower shop The post boxes - post shop The grandfather clock - furniture store Pretty much everything can be a 'clue' in some way to another building, and these sets are packed with details. I don't think it's worth debating though, since people are divided into believers and non-believers and no one is going to change their mind. The only thing we can agree on is that we don't know for sure either way.
  16. I was originally going to suggest purple, but we've just had the Alien Queen in purple.
  17. There are some more here: The wings look kind of bulky for a collectible minifig but I imagine they will use this armour. The green 'mecha' shows that the wings are a separate piece, I don't think they will be included. I imagine he'll have the same kind of gun that the Galaxy Patrol guy has, but in a different colour, rather than the laser gun that all the other space minifigs have had. I also imagine that his armour will be dark bley, to contrast with the bright colours shown here.
  18. I'm very sceptical that this will be Pirates, although I am always hopeful that they will return. I think he's more likely referring to the space bugs thing.
  19. This list still hasn't been discredited? Usually they have been by this time. Maybe it's not so fake after all... All minifigs potentially interest me. I've been building an extensive Space society using the torsos and legs of Space minifigs but supplementing the heads, hands and hair of other figs. Here are a couple of guys I made using the 'alien' figures using the hair of the Mechanic, the hair of the 2nd Cheerleader, the face of the Disco Guy and the face of the Cavewoman. So of course the 'Alien Trooper' and potentially the 'Battle Mech' are most interesting to me, but I definitely wasn't excited by the Mechanic until I saw how much I liked his hair with this character. I don't know what I want until I see it.
  20. What a disappointingly small house... are these definitely the only Creator sets out next year? What happened to the magnificently big Creator houses they've had in previous years?
  21. If I go to the 'Official LEGO Comments' section of the cuusoo page, it says the next review will be held in 'June'. This comment was posted in May. Does anyone know what's happening with the project? Has it been rejected or is the review just taking that long? This and the Portal sets are the ones I'm most likely to buy.
  22. But it says 'Creator' on the box! I think Drdesigns is right though... the '10xxx' set number and the lack of alternative builds means this is really a D2C set with new packaging. And if all 'Creator' sets are going to have difficulty rankings on them now, there isn't as much to discuss as I thought there was.
  23. Why include the face? I think this is a good thing. I have been put of by quite a few trains that are super-expensive because they have all the electronic parts with them, I might actually buy this set.
  24. Most of the discussion about the new "10233: Horizontal Express" set is taking place in 'Train Tech' forum, but since it's actually a 'Creator' set I think it's worth mentioning in this forum also. Particularly, the new 'Expert' tag it has on it I think is worthy of discussion. What, exactly, does the 'Expert' tag mean? For a start, it does not seem to have any alternative builds, so I'm not sure it really qualifies as a proper 'Creator' set. On the other hand, it is like an 'Exclusive' set that is more accessible and affordable. Maybe a bit simpler, but I actually prefer an easy build sometimes because it reminds me of the way Lego was when I was a kid, when the equivalent of 'Creator' sets were just 'Lego' sets. The builds are less fidgety and the pieces more flexible than 'Exclusive' sets. Actually, looking at the piece, count, it's not much more than other Creator sets of previous years, like the Transport Ferry and the Highway Transport. So maybe the 'Expert' tag just applies to the fact that the build is compatible with minifigs and contains six of them. What do you think of this new 'Expert' set? Are you unhappy that they seems to be moving further away from the 'Creator' spirit by including minifigs but no alternative builds, or happy that this is set in the '10xxx' range that is accessible and affordable?
  25. Maybe Lego feel they have been under fire for sexism lately, especially after the Friends sets, so want to emphasise how they are not actually sexist. I must admit that the thing that pleases me most about the set is the female conductor and the male host, they actually acknowledge that women can have careers outside of hospitality. I think this is the first time they've had a female in a traditional male occupation, in a set that does not also have a male in the same occupation (e.g. 4432 'Garbage Truck'). Since when was 'Creator: Expert' a thing? That's another thing I find exciting. Some of my favourite sets are Creator sets, they are somehow more true to what I think Lego means than any other theme, and the idea that there can be 'Expert' creator sets gives me something to look forward to in the future.
