My point exactly.

I have to disagree with some people on this thread. I like the proportions and the interior space. This fort looks like what it is suppose to be, a heavy fortification to control a crucial area. Maybe you do not need to use the inside spaces of the fort, just make them look like they are used. More doors, etc...

I like it, but there are some issues. 1. Not enough sail, you need more. 2. Yes this ship is very tough, but all it needs is a smaller and faster ship to hit your rudder or rigging, and then your tough ship is tough target practice. I like the idea of a tall and heavy ship. I would make it a little shorter, and add some sail.

I was working on a "Branco Style" fort as well. I was before Branco came out, but now I guess Branco Style is a term? Use these for your corners if you dont want to actually make a connected sloped wall: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=3685 -Super

Very cool! I like it a lot!

Ok, Im already engaged, but Im thinking of becoming a mormon, to marry you too! A woman after my own heart!!!
-
My only question is, Wouldn't this whole fort design be easier if he used this: Or this: ??? -Super

I'll just be honest and say that the fort I have been working on for a long time is an original design that encorporates a lot of features from this fort. I am kinda mad because once Im done, it basically going to look a lot like this fort! But I am also kinda of happy because some of his building techniques will make my fort look WAY better. In the end, they will be different forts, but I will owe LBaixinho a case of beer at least. Is he over 21?! Well, I guess Im happy for the techniques, and sad he beat me to it.

She is a beast!!! Well done!

But that is how they really look? It looks real to me.

THIS IS SWEET! I really really like this! Its so simple yet so awesome! A really good job! I am jealous!

So when making a ship like this, there simply are some things you cannot do, right? For instance, if you make a hull that looks proportional, you may not be able to have as many cannon as the original ship, etc...? I am working on my first historical recreation, and I am very tempted to not use the pre-fab hulls. But if I don't, it will be a real pain in the neck!
-
Quick question, how many center sections did you use?
-
No prob!

What about the new castle village set? Wouldnt that work well in a pirate port? I was thinking of asking for it as a present, and then mod-ing it accordingly. I thought maybe I would buy two of them and mod them as well...
-
Inhave bought about five of these sets, and as gift cards come in for birthdays, holidays, etc... I will be buying more. I like getting one soldier, one pirate, and some little pieces I can just throw in with my mixed bricks. I also and a HUGE fan of the new firing cannons! The old firing cannons NEVER worked! These new ones can blow stuff up across the room! As Borat would say, "VERY NICE!"
-
I think it would work, but not for the average trooper. It would look good for officers maybe? I have been using the new torso with my blue coats as their governor. It just didn't make sense to me to have him with the red coats.

You are crazy! Islands? Where exactly do I put those in my port?!
-
I knew about this, but I need 20 more 32 x 32 blue baseplates. What am I going to do with the rest of these?!

Ok, First thing I did was this letter: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=27965 Then LEGO responded, I got all bent out of shape, and you guys made fun of me (I deserved it). That happened here (along with my response): http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=27975 Well, after all that, I finally settles down, and we all had a good laugh about it. THEN... I get this letter from LEGO: Dear Martin Thank you for your follow up email. I apologize for the obvious disappointment caused from our initial response; that was not our intention. I would like to assure you that in the previous email, we did not mean to offend you and please accept our apologies if you were left with that impression. Our consumers are our lifeblood and we are all driven daily to provide them the best possible products and service. I would like you to know the most rewarding part of my job is hearing the amazing design talents of our valued fans, such as yourself. That is why it is always a source of great concern when we hear from a consumer indicating disappointment in any aspect of our Company. Martin, we take your comments very seriously and your satisfaction is extremely important to us. The LEGO® Group loves to hear from our fans and your comments are recorded in a global database that is read by all. I'm not part of the design team that creates new sets but I know the company is curious to hear what our consumers are saying and take the feedback seriously. Please be assured I have documented your various request and we will need to leave it in the hands of the design team if large Pirate sets will ever be produced. Concerning your desire to see 32x32 blue baseplate on Pick a Brick, just a couple of weeks ago we added 595 new elements. As you know, currently we are only selling the green baseplate in that size. I have again documented your request to see that baseplate as a purchased items. You never know, maybe it will be part of the next upgrade to the brick palette on Pick a Brick. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience you have experienced. If we can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact Customer Service at 1-800-835-4386 (from within the US or Canada) or 1-860-763-4011 (from outside the US or Canada), between 8:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m. EST Monday – Friday and 10:00a.m. – 6:00 p.m. EST Saturday and Sunday and one of our representatives will be happy to assist you. WIP - My first MOC to be posted. "The Black Dagger"
martinsuper replied to martinsuper's topic in Pirate MOCs
Well, I look at it two ways. There is realistic, and then there is LEGO realistic. If harbor sentry is possible , then I think this ship can handle the cannons! The two blue coats are in the boats, so they can disembark quickly, and get rowing. They actually ride to their destination in the "ready" rowboats. Once the mission is over, then can either hook the rowboats back up, or ditch them and run. In which case they jump on the ship. I thought it gave a better "feeling" of this ship being loaded to the gills for raiding, you know? -
Bricklink Question, what are ships' masts called?
martinsuper replied to martinsuper's topic in LEGO Pirates
EXACTLY what I needed! THANKS! -
Congrats to all! There were also a lot of Cabins that were very nice and did not win! I liked a lot of them and found it hard to choose! Whens the next contest? Any idea what it might be?

Pretty simple question about Bricklink. What are ships' masts called? Where do I find them? For instance, if I wanted to buy the two mast pieces for Caribbean Clipper, what would it be called? What is the center piece where the minifigs stand called? Thanks! Super

Hey thanks! As you can see, they are raiding the kitchen counter in that particular picture.
