Ah, gotcha. If there's one thing I don't know, it's... anything about Castle, really.

If Cafe Corner is being cut, I may need to hurry up and grab it. Last time I was at the Bellevue LEGO Store (a week or two ago), they still had some. I've been holding off because it doesn't have an interior, but I'll just make my own! I'm yet another who was pulled from his dark ages by the allure of the modular houses. They're a level of design far beyond anything else I've seen from LEGO and I sincerely hope they keep producing them. I also love the 30's style because my street layout happens to be set in the 1930s!

Very nicely done. I love the staggered books in the library as well as the filing cabinet there, but the cabinet seems a little thin. Perhaps making it one brick deeper might add to the effect? Also, I like how the yellow-with-white-windows look gives it a very classic LEGO touch.

I think my favorite detail is the 1/2 plate vertical offset to get the cheese slopes over the pillars to have a nice, even slope to them. Great job.

It seems I'm an inexpensive way to get a skeleton horse!

I'm quite impressed with your ability to keep that tree sticker from peeling right off! Oh yeah, nice job on the colors, as well.

Good review! I agree with it almost entirely, except I'd drop the Minifig score to 1.5 or so. The only redeeming aspects are different heads for the two drivers and lack of mechanic. Everything else is pretty abysmal in that department.

I was never a fan of this line. All it really had going for it was "not as terrible as most of the rest of the year." It's very forgettable to me. I had actually completely forgotten the line existed until this review!

I wish I could justify to myself dropping a few bucks on LifeLites to illuminate my modulars. They certainly have the smartest system, but it's just too pricey for me.

Yup. Although it's pretty easy to mod the green one to fit a fig, they still don't quite sit up straight. On the bright side, I did that mod using only parts that came with the set, so that's cool. edit: I have a certain soft spot for that green Creator car because it was my first set comin' out of my dark age.

This is being sorely understated! Freakin' 1x3 tiles! It's about time! I see at least 4 of them in Smash and Grab.

Thanks for the review! This is one of the City sets I was most looking forward to, though now that I see it, I'm a bit disappointed. It's a pretty uninspired-looking, though fully adequate, design and the interior is pretty barren. Still, I'll probably grab it. Looks like a wholly average set overall.

I agree with everyone else who noticed this: the windmill is definitely not to scale on the box. Just compare the minifig with the baseplate next to him or the arm on the windmill against the one on the truck!

Thanks! I use a program called LeoCAD, which is just another GUI for LDraw. I don't like how MLCAD handles.

I considered that! I went back and forth between 1x1 plates, 1x1 round plates, and 1x1 slopes. In the end, I figured that although the lights are enclosed in a square-ish housing, the lights themselves are identifiably round, so I went with that to make it more recognizable as a Mustang.

Gorgeous! I love detailed architecture like this. Well done!

V-LV-4E & V-LP-2D This was a pretty quick "build" compared to most of my designs, only taking maybe 5-6 hours tops. As such, it's got room for improvement, but I really don't feel like working on it anymore. Also, about halfway through building this, I was having trouble figuring out how to tie the front to the back, so I searched Brickshelf to see if anyone else had made one of these. Not only are there quite a few, but one or two look REALLY similar to the design I came up with! Great minds, I guess. I really wanted to get the front grill and rear tail lights right, as I feel those are the defining characteristics of the modern Mustang design. Almost all the work on this MOC is on getting exterior details right, so the inside isn't very special at all, bu it still fits a fig - barely. Early versions had opening doors, but those were abandoned in favor of aesthetics. Anyway, the main reason I designed this is so I'd have a nice cruiser to go with the SWAT truck I made the other day! Edit: Almost forgot! Modular Town Buildings Vs. Classic Style
Carbohydrates replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Town
I'm very hesitant to pick up any City set with a building in it because the modular buildings have just completely won my heart. Voted no, modular. Now if only I could afford another to compliment my Green Grocer! -
Yeah, I'm not feeling this at all. The truck seems oddly proportioned - too wide, not tall enough. The helicopter is uninspired and the windscreen seems really odd. Oh well! Still looking forward to the Camper more than anything for Town '09.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone! You'd need a bunch! This MOC uses 24 1x3 plates, 17 2x3 plates, and 35 1x2 w/ 1 stud (jumper) plates. Thanks! I'd love to be able to build it, but at 481 pieces, it's right in the "prohibitively expensive" range until I get some more spending money. Funny thing is the idea for the exhaust was probably one of the very last ideas I had for the MOC. I'm glad you guys dig it.

V-LP-2E When I decided to build a SWAT truck, I noticed that most real-world designs are pretty ugly. They're flat black and tend to look like delivery trucks. For inspiration, I turned to Grand Theft Auto: Vice City's SWAT truck design, which is significantly more attractive. I took some liberties, of course, making it look a bit meaner and tougher, but you can still see the influence. Also, I tend to neglect play value in favor of aesthetics, but this model's actually pretty good in that regard. The side and back doors open and the roof comes off to see the inside. Two figs fit comfortably in the cab and you could cram a bunch of troopers either standing or sitting in the back. The model's also 7-wide at most points. I love building at odd widths! This has the benefit of making it large compared to modern 6-wide LEGO city vehicles, but not comically oversized. Nice review. Thanks to this, I went out and bought one for myself and it really is a great little set, even better than it looks in promo pictures or on the box since it's well built from every angle. Are the other Creator houses as nice as this one?

Looks like the troll's vest from an old Harry Potter set. That's an amazing MOC; very realistic. Nice job!

All three of the CC sets; I see you're quite serious about this! Welcome to EB!
