  1. I get your point, your point is just invadid. When you make 300-500 sets a year instead of the old 50-150 you can make BOTH license sets and "classic sets". You even said "Lego used to be town, aqua sets, space, pirates". Point one, LEGO used to be Town, Castle, and Space. Pirates are from the late 80s and aqua sets didn't come until 1995-1996. You know all of next year's sets? That's impressive!!! In January I know we get Star Wars, and IJ, and that's probably it for licenses, maybe Ben 10, but that might not be in System scale. We also get City sets, I thought I heard something about Pirate set list, but I don't know for sure. There are Racer, and Creator sets, and there is Atlantis. So in January we have City, an aqua theme, and Racers and Creator, that's four themes done by LEGO. We also get Star Wars, and now that I think about it, is IJ coming out in January? Either way, we have several LEGO classic themes, with the added bonus of the license pieces. So once again if LEGO makes 10 license themes next years and that equals 100 sets, LEGO can make 200 "classic" LEGO themes to go with them. How? BECAUSE LEGO MAKES MORE SETS.
  2. LEGO isn't drifting anywhere anymore. 50 years ago LEGOs were nothing like LEGOs are today. 10 years ago when Star Wars LEGO was introduced LEGO was dieing, the sets were horrible and not thought out. Then they realized they can do a mix of licensed and regular sets. How do they do that? THEY MAKE MORE SETS! Look at Brickset, LEGO used to make 50-100 sets a year in the 80s, about 10-150 in the early 90s. Then LEGO branched off and made more sets of all kinds of themes. They made close to 500 sets in 2006-2007, anyone want to say that those were horrible years? They the return of the new popular Castle, the best KK2 sets, great City sets, the awesome new theme Exo-Force (OK that did suck in 2007). There was Batman and Spongebob, and the classic Holiday Train, Aqua Raiders which I really enjoyed, 2007 had the last Harry Potter and the first real AFOL LEGO set, Cafe Corner. From what we have seen PoP and IJ are VERY different, sure they cross over at times, but still are quite different.
  3. I had oen art teacher.... boy was she a... Anyhoo, I never knew they make a green brick/baseplate in that size.
  4. Lego needs to rethink it's whole train idea, because right now I think it's a failure. LEGO went "9v is dead" and then introduced RC. RC is far from perfect, but it has a few things going for it, mainly the price, LEGO wanted cheaper and that's what they are. The whole problem with 9v was it cost too much for LEGO to make and too much for children, so what do they do know? They make a train that would cost $200-$250 to make it run! That's insane! LEGO next year needs to release a few more trains, like the Holiday Train and Classic Train that don't run on batteries, and more importantly make them cheaper. Then they need to make a pack that can get the train to run for less than $50. After they fix that mess LEGO needs to release more sets like they used too pre-2000s. There needs to be cranes, and cargo stations, and passenger stations and rainroad crossings and more cars for the trains. For the last few years we had none of that.
  5. I was thinking "Does he mean tic-tac-toe?" This did come out of no where, they really need to release more of these. I think a city one would work well, maybe even a Power Miner one. Lego chess sets are always neat.
  6. Not going to happen. After the lawsuit dealing with Star Wars and Hasbro I don't think any licenses will have Impulse sets.
  7. Are there mermaids?
  8. It's not an airline set if the set is on Amazon.
  9. The space pack came with a few different Space Port sets from 1999.
  10. I have very little baseplates but green by far, grey is so blah and icky. Plus the price for the green ones were $7 when the new grey ones are $12 or $13, and that's just silly.
  11. Very nice, the dino and the windshield wipers look awesome. However the rain effect of the first picture, not so good.
  12. For everyone who wants a Fire Station with a pole... http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=7240-1 I'm hoping it's not otherwise it will be this... http://shop.lego.com/ByTheme/Product.aspx?...;cn=381&d=9 with the back of this.... http://shop.lego.com/ByTheme/Product.aspx?...;cn=381&d=9
  13. I finally thought of the worst sets are, and they are all City Center, and the only bad World City set... 7031-1: Helicopter 6477-1: Fire Fighters' Lift Truck 6478-1: Fire Fighters' HQ Who ever designed those better have been fired. The worst set has to be.... 6636-1: Command Post Central It's a 1998 set that they rereleased as a Legend type set in 2002!!! The set was god awful in 1998 and somehow got even worse in 2002! Thankfully LEGO took 2001 and 2002 off to think of new Town sets with World City and those sets were very nice, different, and in the old Town size.
  14. I'm a huge fan of Aqua Raiders so I must defend them. Aqua Raiders 2007 was a one year theme, it was never planned for more than one year. However it seemed that the children really loved the theme, so my guess is LEGO started planning a new underwater theme starting in mid 2008 to see if they could match the success. I rather they just continue with Aqua Raiders and expand to create an "Aqua Sharks" bag guy that is trying to steal Atlantis tressure or something stupid like that.
  15. The Hospital was pretty bad, anything 4 Juniors was also bad so take your pick, same with a lot of The Clone Wars sets. I'm trying to pick the worst of the worst and it's hard, there are like 3,000 sets. However 7418-1: Scorpion Palace is bad, so for now I'll say that. if you ever built it that was horrible, however the elegant is awesome. My favorites that I think people will look over... 7093-1: Skeleton Tower - A classic Castle feel with a modern take on castle. 7419-1: Dragon Fortress - One of the nicest designed LEGO sets I have seen, different and excellent. 7417-1: Temple of Mount Everest - Simple LEGO design done right, and it has a baseplate! Maybe not the best of the best of the best, but close and I think people will over look them. Oh! A favorite favorite of mine, the best Train set since the famous yellow / red large Train Station... 10027-1: Train Engine Shed. I love that set!
  16. I'm glad, Aquazone and Rock Raiders were favorite themes of mine besides City. I had all the small sets for each one, and have high standards of things that fallow. I'm also a huge fan of Divers and the new Aqua Raiders, and can't wait to see what Atlantis brings, but so far I'm not thrilled with it, I feel it will have the same mistakes as Power Miners does now. LEGO really needs to either make futuristic underground subs and miners, or modern day, they seem to want to mix them. While I'm complaining more women LEGO!!! :)
  17. I don't hate lime green, actually it's one of my favorite LEGO colors, however EVERY set is ONLY lime green, there needed to be more colors involved to bring the full sets out. Power Miners is a much better theme, but also much different than Rock Raiders. LEGO took the time to make sure the sets look really nice and it's very well thought out. My only complains are some of the sets seem really small, and I wish there was more colors. The two different rock monsters are both very nice and the moving drill pieces is just perfect. All that said I like the idea of Rock Raisers more, I like the futuristic underground mining idea, it was different and it was fun. However it was horribly executed. I had a lot of the sets because like I said the theme was a great idea. 4970 comes to mind for what made the theme a failure... juniorization! The whole bottom is one piece and then the 4 wheels, then the cockpit is two more pieces, then the sides are 2 more pieces and the dumpster thing in the back. The light is really nice, more so because you can change the batteries, but as a whole it's just a few huge pieces slapped together. There are even 1x2x2 pieces, what was the point of those? Two 1x2 didn't work? I do like the RR colors more through because it feels like futuristic and old fashion at the same time. Plus the small amount of teal was really a nice touch. I also like the big rock boulders. Ill give Rock Raiders major credit for having a female figure, that was really nice to theme.
  18. I think LEGO saves the better City sets until the summer. The Coast guard sets were a summer theme, this year we got a whole bunch of different things, like the camper, tow truck and some buildings. LEGO needs to do Trains for next summer, the problem is they got rid of 9V claiming it was too expensive for children only to be replaced with something that cost $100 even before you add the train! I'm love to have a train depot or something.
  19. $45?!?! That's 10 times as much as i spent on it last year! All right! This is why I bought extra!
  20. Also if they don't use the mermaid legs for the theme I will be hugely disappointed. I also don't believe anything that is said by the people working in a LEGO Store.
  21. The suitcase, camera, and skateboard are my favorites. The Book is pretty bag, but the gab that opens is horribly huge. Luckily LEGO has the regular one, the camping one and the new IJ one.
  22. Me too! Come on LEGO and show us the real stuff! I like Power Miners only because I think the monsters are cute. :) Plus this theme is the death of a fantasy theme I always wanted Adventures in Atlantis.
  23. Very neat, however it could use a few more trees or flowers.
  24. Hasn't LEGO addressed this several hundred times? The USA has more competition so the prices need to be lower, there are different taxes and such, more toys in gernal and so on and so on. If it makes you feel any better LEGOs need to be cheaper here because we waste 50% of the income on health care.
