We've definitely opened the door for returning criminals. I'm just not sure if the VN we see in the breakout is our guy, or if it's just reusing the character model.
-
I dunno, just the replacing of "you" with "ya", Rocka going "this is sweet!" and all that. I get that he's a rookie, but still. That would require... nine episodes, plus or minus the intro/conclusion? Even if they make it a miniseries (which would be cool, but we already have confirmation of a "one hour special", so I doubt that will happen at all), I doubt they would have enough of a budget to make nine episodes, unless Savage Planet has sold a lot more than I thought.

Fix'd (although replacing the two with a 3 would have been a logical step =P) Edit: Quoting for the sake of convenience for the new page.

So apparently there's a new comic of sorts in an upcoming LEGO mag; BZP member unknown_user2596 posted links to it. Page 1 Page 2 The dialogue is getting worse and worse, but the art is fantastic as ever (still Damaso, so... sweet). Plus, it offers a conclusion for entering the club-code (unfortunately, LEGO doesn't seem to have uploaded it yet XP), which is a promising new technique for them to use. If all comics were distributed in such a manner in the future, that could be pretty cool.

Yup, we really are spoiling the endings with each of these videos XP. I suppose last winter did something similar, but there was a reason for that. Ah well. Furno v Jawblade is exactly how I pictured it, so that makes me happy. Cool underwater setting, though Jawblade is a bit comical with his hands. Surge v Splitface was also actually really cool. Maybe it's just because I've been finishing off the Ender's Game series recently, but they treated space fighting with a surprising amount of deference; relatively accurate, all things considered, at least in terms of forces and lack of gravity. They could have easily just gone "olol they have magic gravity inducing boots" or some nonsense. So yeah, Breez seems to be AWOL =P. We'll probably get a video of her at some point and then everybody will forget that it was ever a thing, but it is a bit strange, especially since she seems to be only partially stocked in some places (again, also more than likely a non-issue, since there hasn't technically been a wide-release yet). Not sure what to make of that episode list; could very well be faked, since they only recently added Savage Planet anyway, and certainly not until after it had aired =P. I'm sticking to my "one episode in the summer" theory; they'll tease us with winter Breakout endings because we won't actually get an episode until the summer; there, every single Breakout line will be resolved. It'll make the episode snappy (unless they fragment it into another miniseries), but it'll finish off everything at once.

Breez is whack looking with the narrow torso, I think I prefer the normal version better. Also I notice that a lot of the other Heroes don't use hand joints in their plasma guns/new shooters, they just use y joints. Breez is actually the only one that does. I don't know why XP. However, Breez still isn't my favorite. I actually like the color layering they did, with the red and white, and it works overall as a set, but just doesn't really have a wow factor.

I didn't like his OoF accent, but I get where that's coming from. The problem is that there's an expectation of consistency when there's nothing to be consistent with. I don't see an eccentric, outgoing Hero, I see a guy on a mission who, faced with adversity, takes the time to think and rationalize his actions, and thereby ensures his own victory. If anything, that's pretty in-tune with what we saw before (if not completely identical to the one-note trope that was given to us on OoF). His character is getting developed, not changed; occasionally subtle difference, but there you have it.
-
That just means that OoF failed to develop his character at all. It's fine to be zen, but that's all we saw of him. We saw him meditate, and we saw him shoot things. That for an entire episode (at least, for his own travels and adventures) would be ridiculously boring.
-
I don't see how anybody's character has changed. Nex is the tech-head; this is first shown in OoF, and then these traits appear again in SP. Evo is the calm, cool, collected one. In OoF, more than anything else, he is caricature of himself, of his traits. Here, we actually have some dialogue, some insight into his thought processes, and while still in tune with what we were told about him before, it adds depth, reality, to his character. I don't see any resemblance to Nex in that clip, at all. Also, Aanch is around =P. He's visiting relatives, so he doesn't have much computer time, apparently.

Man, they're really giving the whole episode away in these Vs movies XP. I think Evo still resembles his old personality, in a way that actually makes more sense. OoF didn't really give a good picture of Evo; all he did was meditate and shoot things. Here, under pressure, he still rationalizes and thinks over his decisions, he just has to do it on the fly, and under duress. I did see Von Nebula this time, among the group of escapees. I can only hope that it's just a re-use of his character model, because if not, there's some serious 'splaining to do. Anyhow, I don't think they're ending it just yet. If nothing else, Breakout has paved the way for old villains to return. A short summer line isn't really indicative of ending anything; BIONICLE's final summer release was one of the biggest (both in the number of sets, as well as the overall size of the sets) in the entire line. Maybe this line has less than Savage Planet, but it has the same as the inaugural (also summer) wave did, and they only shrunk the number of sets for the subsequent wave there.

My TRU and LEGO store are depressingly stagnant. I'm just gonna order some from TRU/S@H. S@H has some more sets now, though, which is nice. Edit: I ordered Surge and Splitface. Couldn't help myself. Should arrive the 27th or the 28th. Maybe the 29th if they're busy with Christmas stuff. Edit 2: Does Bulk have a silver MTIS piece? Ahahahahahaha.
-
No, they're the same thing (well, in their original color, at any rate), the base is just positioned lower on his back. If I recall the past with BIONICLE correctly, that happens sometimes, but usually with exclusive sets =P. Maybe this was just a miscommunication, though.
-
Iron Man is definitely the best set overall, but that's because the building style lends it to that overall impression. Cap looks pretty cool, though. Hulk could use fingers, but I'm otherwise satisfied with how it turned out. I'll have to try and pick some up.
-
5.0 pics already, huh? Damn XP. However, it obviously continues the line, so it's definitely something to look forward to. I still need to find some first wave 2012 sets.
-
Seems a bit convenient that we get this list all of a sudden that basically confirms what we were wanting. Dunno if it's real, but it could have potential. Hunter and Dynamo could easily be Hero or villain names XP. Although, the villains these days have more explicitly evil names (as opposed to the first wave), but still, it's harder to tell. Freeze and Flashfreeze seems sketchy, but I recall having Drilldozer and something Dozer as prelim names at the beginning of this year, so I dunno. It's always really hard to tell, really. Stormer's "legend" designation is the most interesting thing there. Whoooo knows.

I think the issue with that take on things is that it's ascribing too much "human-ness" to the robots; in the case of Fire Lord and his cronies, it was a mechanical defect that allowed for the energy they absorbed to influence their mentality adversely. It wouldn't be reform so much as it would be custodial rehabilitation. They need time to detox, presumably, then their actual wiring would probably need to be looked at to prevent that kind of thing from happening again.

Makes me sad that the video basically gives away the ending of the show =P. Black Phantom's voice sucks, but the animation hit all new levels of awesome. And as a final battle scene goes, that one is pretty decent. A somewhat cliched finish, but the scene itself as a whole definitely sets new standards of fight scenes for that episode. I'm looking forward to it. So much for the fused villains theory, but it would have been cooler at the time. The Vortex that apparently frees the villains is reminiscent of Von Nebula; even if it's unrelated, you gotta wonder how they're going to deal with him in the long run. And BP isn't necessarily the "leader" of the Breakout (as in, we don't know if he explicitly commands anybody, such as the current sets) but we're supposed to understand him as the instigator, the one who initiates the breakout. Whether or not that gives him any leadership qualities, or of he has some minions in prison, probably remains to be seen. Anyhow, I still need some sets, man XP

inb4 Aanch says "It's Dark Azure" but yeah, it's a color called "Dark Azure" (or maybe medium Azure; it looks medium in that pic, but there is a lot of light saturation =P). I suppose I should try eBay, or maybe I should just wait. But I soooo want the new sets ;_;
-
I can't really justify spending that much money at any given instance =P. I have to buy stuff for other people too, I just figured a little treat to myself wouldn't be so bad. But, thwarted. If TRU didn't mark up their prices, it would be worth it, but they just like making things expensive =(

I did a sweep of all the local toyspots in my area, and I didn't find anything, so I guess it's just a per-store basis. Sadly, even with the BOGO on the site, it doesn't alleviate the tax and shipping; I will never be saving money. So, I guess I'll just give it another week or two...
-
I'm going to use an old HF container to store the new plastic bags... canception?
-
Dammit BZP. Why do you guys get cool stuff. Especially when your reviews are meh these days ;_; But seriously, now I need to check out TRU. I'll probably do that on Sunday...
-
Well, the TRU description did call them "toxic-proof" or something along those lines, so I'm willing to go along with that. And it was called a "tank arm", so that'll mean whatever you want to mean.
-
Yessssssssssss. God, that is just so incredibly cool. I suddenly feel compelled to buy multiple Splitfaces (Splitfaci?). As for the printing, the upcoming Iron Man set has a red chest, right? We could use something like that. I guess gunmetal would be amiss somewhere, though. Still, though, that's really cool.
-
I had actually mentioned that to aanch way earlier, but he shot my idea down =P. I still harbored the notion that it would be possible to flip them, and I'm still convinced that they are reversible.
