Now now, having the mindset that "moc" has to mean "bricky" is what gets people slaps in the face. :D

I almost voted "It's a valuable parts pack but nothing more", but then it hit me what it probably REALLY was... something purposefully designed INSANELY so as to not leave the buyer wanting to build it. And because it had so many themes, I can only assume this psychedelic monstrosity was meant as a gateway drug for the buyer to get other sets... to somehow validate the accident that was it's purchase. :oD It COULD be a good source of parts, but only if you already have themes that specific parts from it can go into. I swear this line was made up by an executive sitting at a boardroom table, who thought he had a slick idea to guilt people into getting other sets, and that's why I really hate it.

Hmm... I thought all of those mermaid examples were a bit too bricky. I picture something "softer", like using a green minifig cape as the tail then brainstorming the rest. Something... simple. ::doesn't have parts, so can't moc it::

Yeesh, i hope not. Those non-playable Bionicle minifigs have no right being called minifigs. Damn... they better not have more junk like those planned for future sets. I don't want to see the Bionicle minifigs becoming yet another Lego body standard. The ONLY time I could see them as accepable would be as a cost-cutting way to have ****loads of stormtroopers, but without the cost of having EVERY one a regular, more-expensive-to-produce minifig. I hope Spongebob is system. Then we can get all these neat, aquatic trans parts without having to feel homosexual by buying Belville sets.

Started watching some of the clips, didn't make it all the way through any of them. It's your typical "Americans-trying-to-do-anime" poop, like "Totally Spies!" on Cartoon Network. Still, there should be some good parts, if they make system. Galidor-style... ugh. I'll be buying these for $3 in the clearance bin at Walmart too, won't I? A. It's Nickelodeon, who they just got a contract with. Might as well snag it. B. Not just Nickelodeon, but even though in anime-style, the rights are fully American, not any hidden tie-ups with any of the rights hiding in Japan. C. Lego's making a misguided attempt at FINALLY getting an "anime' license... only they're too megablocking stupid to realize this is FAKE anime... the stuff that makes the REAL anime fans cringe and throw things at their tv sets. People have been screaming on messageboards for years to see Gundam or Dragonball Z type popular anime get picked up by Lego... and THIS is what they do? Yugh... I just hope the sets are good and that they're NOT Duplo, Jack Stone or Galidor style... but that probably won't be the case with any of the Nickelodeon titles.

Who's this "JINZONINGEN 73" guy?
JINZONINGEN73 replied to JINZONINGEN73's topic in Hello! My name is...
X D Don't see that happenin'. I just hope they get things done right themselves. Ninjo's a good guy. I have faith in him. That can change of course, if the kids who care and follow rules continue getting trampled by non-qualifying contest mocs again. And mysteriously "vanishing" post deletions. And not answering questions in PMs. >-| -
Call, call, call... For real. Anything else is a horrible waste of time. They're usually VERY generous and quick in resolving things by phone. ...so quit sitting here reading this & call... Just make sure you have the set's model number(s) at your fingertips... they'll tell you to call back if you don't have it handy.

Zaktan's weapon has promise for creating wings. Reidak, despite having a girly flower projectile for his cannon, happens to have a rather useful-looking tail. Vezok's pimply scrotum chin bugs me. Interesting weapon though. Avak's gun, though big and wonky, has clever moc'ing purposes swirling in my head. I'm not sure if anyone else looks at it's potential the same way though. Cool head... but the brown is dreadfully unfortunate. Oh, how I miss the days of kanohi mask packs and all their color opportunities. Thok's head looks like a mutated version of the original base toa head. Weapon is similar to Avak's in my mocing plans. Hakann is like Vezok... just kinda' there. Avak wins... but not because I like brown. reidak in close second.

The hordika were just pure suck. Bad weapons, bodies, everything except MAYBE some of the heads. Possibly the MOST kiddie looking toa yet. They might as well have been designed by whoever designs the "under 5" toys for McDonald's Happy Meals. The Visorak added some neat things however. The giant head piece, while being, well, giant... adds a nice part for mocs. Noone's really utilized it yet, but I see ALOT of promise in it (don't have any yet). Also nice is the return of old legs in new colors (unfortunately some of them have those crappy bohrok legs). The spinner feature unfortunately detracts from the whole thing, taking up way too much space, but it's still able to be overcome when moc'ing. The battle sets add some nice things, alot actually. Giant versions of masks, 1-piece glow in the dark creatures, good parts in different colors... but the price of each of these sets is astoundingly painful. Roodaka was "ok", but not harboring any great amount of parts. Sidorak was a conglomeration of the AWFUL rahkshi legs and the AWFUL metruan chest armor piece. Not much to see. Keetongu was pretty good though... old parts in new colors as well as adding yellow (well, a new kind of yellow) into the parts bins of Bionicle line purists... yellow being something severely missing in Bionicle since day ONE. The matoran for this year, the Rahaga, were pretty decent sets. Even though they too had the beyond-annoying kiddy spinner toy, they also had some decent parts, such as orange beams, a source of spare Rahkshi heads and the all-important new type leg joints the nasty 2004 metruan had. As for the "mask pack" of this year... ugh... just a couple spinners... crap you'd expect from a dollar store. WORTHLESS to moc'ing, as there are no permanent connection points on them! Visorak win.

There was hope that this year would be a return to the fun, kanohi collecting of 2001. Not so. The "mask pack" for this year was NOT different colors of the metru masks... but F'ing repainted THROWBOT discs and their non-symmetrical launcher pieces. Yay? NO. The metru sets were decent sources of new parts. Unfortunately, not having any sources for different colored masks, there was not much excitement to customize or moc them as the toa from 2001 had. Their weapons blew beyond words, especially the blue one's. (Nuju) Nidhiki almost got my vote, but I went with the Vahki. They were a good mix of new parts combined with old parts in new colors. They too had launchers like the DISGUSTINGLY LAZY Matoran from this year, but theirs were symmetrical, able to be used in mocs without looking like absolute megablock. Also nice was Lego's slant over to "dangerous" looking weapons. Sure, they still had the balls to insult our intelligence by calling them "tools", but really... some were big fuckin' swords... obviously Lego caught on that everyone's favorite weapon from 2001 was Kopaka's white sword. About the metruan... the matoran for this year... absolutely despicable. Just a big, stupid, HOLLOW, un-moc'able shell with a head and some feet sticking off it. A very lazy, very embarrassing product from Lego. It's ONLY saving grace was the new joints in the legs and arms. The kanohi would have been a positive point, but they weren't solid... half of ALL of them were mixed in with that annoying silver/pearl color. Not a good thing for moc'ing. Turaga Dume / Nivawk... what on earth? Looked nothing like the creature in the movie. Looked bad even despite that. I hope some "Master Builders" lost their jobs for making something this awful looking.

The Rahkshi almost win, what with their trans ball joint... but the pieces are just too large and annoying. The bohrok Kal were no more than Bohrok with the trans in their headplates now missing... replaced with solid pearl and worse yet... reptile designs printed on them, nearly OBLITERATING the use in moc'ing. Their leg joints were in welcome alternate colors from the first Bohrok, but unfortunately that particular joint is one of the most megablocks-sucking pieces in the entire technic line of ball joints. Went with the Matoran. Even though, for some ungodly reason, Lego decided to only make them without any green or purple like the first ones, they still had some pretty good parts for their price. They also happened to be the BEST-looking matoran sets ever, which is awkward, for they seem to be getting cheaper and more awful with every year that passes. These were actually worthy of being called SETS. The "mask pack" for this year consisted of (somehow?) even WORSE parts than the rubber krana... kraata... about 9 million different color patterns and hardly a connection point to be found. Ugh... truly awful.
-
This was hard to vote on... mainly due to the fact I bought some of these sets at normal prices, but then bought the EXPENSIVE sets for mere pennies on extreme discount. If we're talking about paying full price, the Bohrok Va were good. They had the then-rare trans eyes as well as the new half friction peg / half axle element. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=3749 Also a decent source of the first tohunga feet. If we're talkin' buying on clearance... also hard to say. The Bohrok were AWESOME sets at $3 (instead of 8) and the Bahrag were great at $15 (instead of 35). I go with the Bahrag. Even though there was redundancy in mostly having JUST blue and red parts, there was also a nice amount of duplicate parts in each set. The advantage here being, learning how to moc with multiples of the same part. Also, an excellent source of axles and pins, as well as tubing and such. 2002 was a crappy year for the mask packs, which lost their heads, trans elements and axles. ...in place of near-worthless rubber masks. The 2001 toa were neat because they were new. The Toa Nuva were NOT. Worse yet, they got the new leg part... a hollow, nearly-unmoc'able piece of crap. The creative desgn of their masks to look "organic" instead made them all look very similar to each other... and absolutely megablocking terrible. Worse yet, they lost the trans masks I'd loved in 2001.

Had to go with kanohi pack. Sure, the sets are what you need to build with, but without kanohi packs, I truly don't believe the line would have blossomed as large and as fast as it had. There was EXCITEMENT in popping open a pack to see if there was a trans mask. And the moc'ing abilities opened up by having masks in different colors was immensely welcome. It was annoying however to finally find out the vahi mask shown on the side didn't really come in those packs, as well as finding out no trans brown kaukau on the back of the box was really ever made... not that the neon trans orange wasn't a GREAT replacement for it's absence. On top of trans masks, there was the fun possibility of infected hau masks... and EVERY box at least came with some all-important axles and head / trans eye elements... something painfully lost completely in the next few years of Bionicle "mask pack" sized gimmicks.

New Poll Whats Your Favorite Lego?
JINZONINGEN73 replied to Vader's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I voted "other" for ( ::ducks:: ) Bionicle. Mainly for mecha joint parts like: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=32174 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=x1314 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=47300 However, I'm falling quickly from needing said joint parts, what with becoming aware system joints like these now out: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=41533 Yeah, I'm turning more and more brick with every moc. -
My one and only (so far) "spaceship" moc.
JINZONINGEN73 replied to JINZONINGEN73's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
http://brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1212775 ^^^ yup. The middle spine down the center is just fine for clamps to grab it at 2 or 3 points. If I was a millionaire, I'd make like 20 of'em and construct a docking bay / ship to go with it. I'm one of the biggest suckers for black and trans neon green color schemes, but I also hated the thought of something so low-tech looking giving enemies a view of the pilot / his condition. Maybe a ship with higher technology could afford to flaunt their invulnerability for all to see. I think about things in too much detail sometimes.. :oD -
^^^ INSTANT SUCKAGE. That one point is the maker or breaker if I'm going to buy multiples of a set or just one... or possibly none.
-
Gallery: http://brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=126042 Laughable, compared to veteran space moc'ers. But it was my first and so far only one. :$ I used one of those Lego Studios support rail beams on the bottom, picturing hundreds of these taking off and landing in zero gravity, merely being "clamped" in a cylindrical docking bay.

For real. Everyone else needs to stop. Heh... like Todd McFarlane's crappy "manga Spawn" lines... ugh. Kill me NOW. These Exo-Force sets are just the same, boring, poorly executed character design / configuration nightmares that I come to expect from Lego's "Master Builders". But I think they make things full of suck on purpose, so consumers feel better when they moc. As far as parts, I'm diggin' these sets. Anything trans is ok in my book. Add a LIGHT and we're talkin' business! Anyone know if the light-up brick is new, or if it's batteries can be replaced? If they can't, I'll be one pissed off hombre.

Pfft. lol Lego is NOT dumping bricks. Taken from another Lego fan site: (Yes, the man really is a Lego employee) Original topic, filled with post after post of shrieking kids: http://www.bzpower.com/forum/index.php?sho...pic=189189&st=0

Who's this "JINZONINGEN 73" guy?
JINZONINGEN73 replied to JINZONINGEN73's topic in Hello! My name is...
And from now on it'll only be mocs you've seen on Brickshelf, IntheBricks and this site if they don't start taking contest theme / rule enforcement seriously. Seriously, man... centaurs, mecha, dragons, samurai, cyclops, Bionicle Rakshi in a HALLOWEEN contest? Yeah, I kinda' got pissed and left BZ. I'll go back if they can do 3 BBC (Bionicle Based Creation) contests in a row without making my brain pop out and roll underneath the refrigerator due to vague contest parameters and disrespect for those who do things right. So, do you guys have rules here? I've been looking around for some kind of guidelines on language and image use. ... ...I get rowdy sometimes. :D -
All this talk of Vikings reminded me of a gag contest (that never was) pic I made a few years ago.

The lady (and I use that word loosely) that launched the recent case against him couldn't have been more batty if she had wings and located her food by high-pitched radar.

How good do you think 2006 will be?
JINZONINGEN73 replied to AaronCrane's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I threw up all over Bionicle when I saw stuff like the Toa Nuva, Movie Matoran and the stupid kiddy gimmicks that replaced the original 2001 Kanohi. Finally... I THINK I have a reason to buy Bionicle again (not just at all, but also in duplicate quantities... like I did in 2001). The 2006 sets are GREAT looking. True, they swerve even further away from "system", like as into the other lane, through the guardrail and down into a ravine, but I think that's going to open up some SERIOUS moc'ing options. The parts aren't giant, hollow pieces of cow dung, they actually seem useful this time. Can't wait... especially if their new "feature" is light-up bricks. I'll be seriously pissed if the batteries are non-removable though. -
32. Noticed while walking through Toys R Us that there were things called "Throwbots". I liked the robot concept, but they looked like pure crap. Later I noticed they were called "Roboriders",, but now they lost their robot element. I bought a few severely discounted Lego sets at Goodwill (System, Technic, Z'Nap) in the summer of 2001 (Millenium Falcon $20, some big train set $15, some Z'Nap truck $3 and 3 Lego Studios deluxe sets $10 each) but didn't really do anything with them until buying Bionicle in the fall, because it looked like they finally got back on the robot track... and the joints looked promising for making custom action figures... an endeavor I failed miserably at with resin and sculpting plastic.. For awhile, Bionicle was all I bought. But, it started to suck SO I started getting more system. Nowadays, my mocs are a monstrosity of Z'Nap, Bionicle / Technic, GALIDOR (!), system... and somehow, it works. I'm starting to hate contests that are "system" or "Bionicle". My stuff BARELY fits into any specific themes anymore.
