  1. I don't know. Let's see... told one or two kids how to enter the contest officially... told a kid the capes he made weren't Lego and he should change them before officially entering... and... ... that I was going to enter this one. Unless all the stuff in here and on In_the_Bricks is considered "contest whining" or something silly. Meh... it's getting hard to care anymore. I mean like what, all of a sudden, after spending a few years of my life on there, donating prizes, modding, "helping" contest runners to the point I did nearly everything anyway, running contests myself, defending some of the more "iffy" rules Bionicle Rex had in place... like all of a sudden in under 1 month's time I'm a "bad" member because I get vocal when contests get disrespectful and my and other people's posts vanish without explanation? Is that all it takes for everything to be blown to hell? *wacko* Well, like I said, I PM'ed Tufi to see exactly what the deal is. If there's an answer, cool. If there isn't... well hell... I have no idea what's next. Sure was fun working on my moc feverishly all of yesterday and last night just to jump on this morning to find I'm "banned from BBC".
  2. It wasn't as big a hit as DC hoped, but I wanna' see Batman Beyond stuff. That series died out too early in my opinion. They could really have done some fun things with his lightup red cockpit. Imagine a control panel surrounding him made of trans, with red light elements making the whole thing glow.
  3. Those are different from the previous tohunga 2006 pics, aren't they? If those are indeed the final packaging, then I wonder what Gregf meant when he said they'd have a play feature. They look just like simple sets holding weapons. Must still be prototypes.
  4. ::Clicked on topic expecting a moc of a White Castle restaurant:: I think the moc is hurt by the fact it's stacked like a fancy birthday cake. Although all those escalating ledges would make good as a deterrant in a real-life frontal assault.
  5. Well I'll be damned. No clue. Just as there was no PM when my post was deleted, so is there no PM now. PM'ed Tufi. Though I've sent her a PM before with no answer on something else that was trivial, so who knows if there'll be a reply. Meh. Nothing suprises me anymore. <__<
  6. I shouldn't complain, as I've snagged at Goodwill stores: Millenium Falcon, some train set, 3 Lego Studios large sets and other such goodies at merely $10-$25 each. Even better, being Goodwill, one of the movie sets had been opened, and inside were a few smaller movie sets baggies crammed in, with instructions. But still... at that same Goodwill, I saw 3 of this train set that had lightup headlights (name escapes me). They were only $15 each... but instead of getting them, I hid them under a pile of junk... so I could go across the street and eat at a fancy sushi restaurant. When I got back, they were gone. >__< I also did something similar at Walmart... missing out on Alpha Team Bomb Squad and Alpha Team ATV... each only $3... ugh... I only left to walk around the store for a moment. I... don't leave bargains alone anymore. I've learned. :-D
  7. His store only opens at unspecified times? :| With so many sellers on BLink, it's easy to overlook someone who'll likely be closed. And his payment methods are yick if you don't support using Paypal. ::saves him in "BLink favorites" folder anyway:: ;)
  8. YOWCH. That's like how the RED crab element goes for like $25 and up on BL. I only looked it up because I wanted some... completely unaware of the hefty pricetag. :| Thanks, that was very helpful, Suvie. I'd imagined they were part of one of the Vikings sets or some weird japanese Kabaya vending machine promo. Japanese vending sets were where I got red and green tail elements years before their wide release in 2005. It'll be a cold day in hell I buy ANY Lego item as a "collectible". I used to be one of those toy-hoarding idiots back in the 90's during the action figure boom... it gets you nowhere. In fact, Lego is ALL I can afford to buy now, and there's very little incentive to even BUY action figures, unless they're some technological marvel from japan (like Microman and Chogokin robots!). If I buy Lego in any weird color or shape, it's STRICTLY because I have some plan for it in mind. :-D Being able to make your own action figures OWN playing with ones that have joint and design flaws, toys that break for good when they break.
  9. On Bricklink, I snagged: Trans-Clear Dinosaur Tail / Neck Middle Section with Pin http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=x159 and Trans-Clear Chain, 20 links, 17L http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=30104 Now, I never saw these in sets and (the OFTEN erroneous) Peeron doesn't have them listed. Any idea what sets they came in? They sure don't look like customs, and I don't even want to think how complex it'd be for a fan to duplicate the chain.
  10. http://peeron.com/inv/sets/8758-1 No instructions submitted to them yet.
  11. The thought of having to see more Mario and Link from Nintendo is as appetizing as seeing more Donald, Mickey or Toy Story from Disney. Yeesh... can't my one last refuge of coolness be untainted from over-saturated characters in the various forms of media I like? Lego and Nintendo, to me, would be sad like Squaresoft teaming up with Disney for Kingdom Hearts. >__<
  12. Aaaand eBay deleted it. WTF.
  13. There's a certain "humor" to it despite it's often grisly reality. But that's why it's good. You get to lose the seriousness but for a second and chuckle. And they're not so graphic as to be accused of being gory. It's an interesting way to cut through the drama and excess baggage of details while getting down to the basics of a situation.
  14. Yeah, it's the non-system forum, but no need to strictly confine it to non-system. This site's not swarming with 80 thousand 6-year olds, so discussing anything anywhere is still more than managable. ;) Dogs. Dogs are the GREAT destroyers of a good few of my Lego parts. I hate dogs. Oh, oh, but CATS aren't innocent either! http://brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=139846 http://brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=139849 Just LOOK at the poor bastard's rubber face! Cats LOVE the soft parts. Rubber elements the best. I lost about THREE spring-loaded projectile heads that way. And if I leave plastic tubing (ridged OR smooth) laying out in the open ...kiss it's butt goodbye. You'd think I'd have learned, after years of having Transformers and expensive diecast Japanese robot weapons getting nibbled. At least with Lego, you can Bricklink up a damaged part... not so easy when it's an ANTENNA off a $550 vintage Combattra Shogun Warrior from the 70's.
  15. pleasedon'tbecrappleasedon'tbecrappleasedon'tbecrap ::looks:: Whew. Ok, I'll post. I ignore alot of requests like that because the mocs are usually HIDEOUS. |-D I really WISH there was a Nivawk set that looked like the movie one. Those cool purplish blue wings and purple limbs and junk... it would've been really, really cool. I TRIED to point out to Greg that they could have simply used 2 to 4 of those cheap plastic Ewok wings (repainted of course) and the "wings" would've made a world of difference. This kind of common sense is lost on him though. It would've been neat. The set might have actually sold well.
  16. ::pictures netting across Predator chest:: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=71155
  17. ^^^ Yeah, yeah, THAT hair. The blue one... perfect Goku hair in black.
  18. I've seen alot of brave attempts by many people, all using many parts to try and emulate the complex, organic Giger-y goodness. But it was accomplished best with but a few bricks. lol Everyone else fails in not making them sticklike in the right places. This is easily one of, if not the best, Alien moc I've ever seen. And he's got just few enough parts to possibly fit in an X-Pod. X D
  19. Urotsukidoji was just demons and people, no vehicles (unless there were sequels after the first 2 I don't know about). And Akira was... well, Kaneda's bike. X D I hope they do that green hair from the chick in black... it's like SO Goku and other popular anime character's hair. EDIT: I stand corrected. Legend of the Overfiend had that cool psycho-energy collection machine with the pistons and the branches where you hook up chicks and... ... eh.... ...yeah. :D
  20. Eeeeyah! MORE bugs! Kill kill KILL! Hmm... seems like an artwork sticky in the Bionicle forum might be in order. Lest we be infested by insects. :P
  21. Sorry. I was trying to do that "remove eyes from Toa heads" trick, but the axle I used was too long. Last thing I remember was it snapping and flying up my nostril, presumably into my frontal lobes.
  22. The kind that... that uses the pieces to smooth out OTHER mocs!
  23. I'd say none were good. They all, as sets, sucked kinda' hard. Wanted to say Nivawk, as he had a very cool design in the Mask of Light... but the poo that was supposed to be his Lego set was inexcusably unidentifiable garbage. Don't say that to Bionicle comic writer Gregf though... he'll defend the set tooth and nail. Over many, many posts. That make you want to stick hot pokers in your eyes. WoAAAH~oh.... oh mercy mercy me... Things ain't what they uuu~used to be...
  24. ^^^ Can't argue with that. Bionicle mocs on Brickshelf are mostly like looking at the same few faces and weapons (literally!) over & over again. And yeah, Bionicle mocs are usually very "open", as in full of annoying gaps by which wind passes through them. That's where the importance of system parts became apparent. I think what DV meant about system mecha all looking the same is that, just like one person sees gaps in Bionicle stuff, others just see a mountain of nub studs in system mecha. Ew... I just thought... System mecha look AWESOME as thumbnails, but crap up close. Technic mecha look like crap as thumbnails, but AWES... well, "better" up close. Lol. I think we're all thinking too hard. Less gabbing, more moc'ing!!! :P
