  1. Yah, even in my cute mocs I want SCARY. It's what Halloween's all about... being scared. After completing him, I noticed a slight toothy resemblance to Japan's "Domo-kun"...
  2. D.B.P.O. 4 words... Death By Paypal Only.
  3. I hate Marvel characters... but the pumpkin's too well done to not notice. :oD
  4. Exactly my thoughts. It should've been adventurously technological, not intoxicatedly psychedelic.
  5. I MIGHT enter, just because I have a moc that'll probably kick some butt. I'll have to see if the prizes are worth it or not. Here's a pic of the late prototype:
  6. Whipped up this monster from an old song while watching a horror movie this morning. 2 hours, tops. Gallery: http://brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=151959
  7. I'd agree, but someone was going to do a snake warrior but was told they couldn't. But a skeleton Rakshi was? It's like... the same thing. Bleh. I'll just sit back and see if anyone starts taking the running of future contests seriously from here on in.
  8. Hooray for 2-hour moc'ing! :D Gallery: http://brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=151959
  9. BBC 31 http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/MechaPop...ries/rainek.gif Popo's "Rainek". And then, Skelerahk: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/MuffinTo...skelerahk00.jpg Both broke the 3rd guideline, but only Popo's was deleted... while the one also out of theme went on to kill Cajun's sweet vampire bat: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=148887
  10. Kong kicks megablocks all over town. To clarify, this contest ends on Oct.31st at 12:00 in the am, or Nov.1st at 12:00 in the am? And in what time zone?
  11. And I hate doing it, especially when it's tiny, nearly insignificant stuff. I know... it makes me want to bang my head through a glass window. Hermaphrodite in a female contest? Mythical greek / medieval beings, mecha, Bionicle Rakshi in a Halloween contest? I would've DQ'ed till the cows came home. I do and I don't understand it. I think the main concern was to eliminate people adding things onto mocs that they CAN'T actually physically do. I think it's also to stop people from obscuring a super-crap moc behind non-crap photoshopping junk. Take the (out-of-theme) Rakshi that beat Cajun in the finals of the last contest. Not ONLY was it out of theme, but the spines on the back went behind photoshop lettering. Honestly, to me, that's no big deal. If NOONE had been dq'ed in that contest that time, I just might have let it pass on that one point. But it wasn't. Someone else's moc WAS dq'ed for photoshop bleeding. But this moc, which wasn't even supposed to be there because it wasn't in theme, wasn't disqualified? It makes no sense. I know I pissed alot of people off by being a disqualifying hardass, but rather that than to TOTALLY piss on people who cared to follow the rules losing in their polls to dragons, rakshi and other stuff out of theme.
  12. Yeah, but sometimes Lego's attempts to ONLY make money instead of a quality product is detrimental. Galidor stunned people when the prototype pics of it hit, it stunned people when it was actually released, it stunned people when even worse Happy Meal toys of them came out... the only time Galidor DIDN'T have anyone shaking their head was when it finally landed in clearance bins, with $20 sets going for $3 as well as $10 going for $3. There's nothing wrong with fans who care about a company screeching about things the company is doing which they think will be a disastrous idea. Especially if after time, the fans start being great predictors of a product's success and the company likewise starts then listening to them. Seeing a business you wish to be prosperous instead making CLEARLY bad, money-losing decisions is a disheartening thing. Sure, we're bitchin', but the nicer word for it is giving an honest opinion. It's like focus group data, but for free. If they care to look where fans actually speak publicly, that is. Keep in mind too, usually by the time prototype pics are shown, it's already WAY too late for any changes to be made to appease the public's criticisms... but that doesn't mean they shouldn't voice them. While proto pics of 1 wave are showing up, some exec sitting in an office somewhere might be ordering up / tweaking changeable specifics about the next year's waves.
  13. http://brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1426000 I do hope that jet has a megablocking propeller to go inside that turbine... Though, knowing how Lego is, they probably made it so one has to buy TWO of THIS to get them lol... http://brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1426001
  14. Just about any Lego set gives a good part here and there. I just hate seeing Lego hurt their sales with poopy, ugly sets that give them a bad name. Luckily, Spongebob probably won't be one of those lines. *satis*
  15. Yeah yeah, I wouldn't either lol. :$ But it likely would to the general buying populace.
  16. Doubt it. Got it off a japanese chick on Bricklink who specialized in vending machine promotions there.
  17. No way. I mean, the people who pop stuff out like that aren't going to SAY it's supposed to be anime, but there's a clear cashing-in of certain anime aspects. It's not illegal of course for things in anime to be mildly cannibalized by other cartoon productions around the world, but one should definitely not be suprised to hear anime fans groan when it is. People who grew up liking anime over choppily-animated, continuity-errored american garbage have a clearly defined wall between the two. Avatar, like Totally Spies, both clearly are normal, crappy, american cartoons... but with a clear attempt at emulating the anime style. It can't even be denied. The character designs are there, but the quality of the animation and the rest of the production jumps off a cliff and lands face-first. It's like waking up one morning and seeing Scooby-freaking-Doo's character designs changed into wide-eyed Astro Boy eyes. It smacks you in the face at mach 10. Teen Titans is a RARE example where parts of anime are utilized by america, but remarkably somehow doesn't suck.
  18. Oh my. What a nice prize. I better get off my megablocks and think something up now. :oD I could post an old moc already posted on other sites, but that'd be just TOO lazy.
  19. Same here. Agreed. Even more, the "Lewa" guy was green, and supposedly a prankster. Wasn't the green knight also the same way? Lazy, lazy, lazy... I'm not too much a fan of these giant KK figures, but I DO like the ease of cape availability. And they're not the totally wonkin' huge cape that came with Darth Vader a few years ago. The first King Mathias had a slightly dark gray cape. The second, armored King Mathias had a light gray cape. Now, from those pics, it seems there's a blue and red cape. Unfortunately, they come in sets a bit more expensive than Mathias's $8.99 canister, but that's what Bricklink's for, right?
  20. Yah. JUST blue bricks would look okay as still, non-moving surfaces of water, but if there was like waves and stuff, it'd probably be cool to have solid blue down, followed by clear and trans blue on top at different heights.
  21. I was wondering one day if there was any OTHER part that could connect to those Throwbot visors other than Throwbot heads. I only found one. The minifig skeleton. (from THIS moc) Unfortunately, that was the only style of visor that worked with the minifig skeleton, but at least it was the cool visor.
  22. That's a toughie. *brainstorm brainstorm brainstorm* Probably a Stargate SG-1 type dealie... some kind of team, 3 guys, 1 chick, with some kind of portal gimmick that lands them in different themes. You could have space and like 2 other themes represented in each individual set. I think anyone'd be hard-pressed to think up an idea with knights, space, pirates and god knows what else all inside 1 single set though lol.
  23. http://brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=102063
  24. I'm sure that's by no accident, either. I dunno'... I'm sure they could've made a "bridging" type theme that touched on and increased interest in all the other Lego themes... but this certainly wasn't the way to design them. :P
