#8641 Flame Glider ($3.99, at the supermarket). Also, on discount for $1.59 (also at supermarket), 2 of every Knights Kingdom figure from the first series (the one before they came with armor). That's a hell of a markdown, ain't it? $9.99 to $1.59? I wonder why they took so long to clearance them... *wacko*

Umbra and Race for the Mask of Life on UK S@H
JINZONINGEN73 replied to JoeMI6's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I dunno. They didn't show up in your link, and I got this when I searched the merchandise portion of their site: "Found 0 results in Shop Sorry, your search did not match any products, general pages, or customer service pages." Maybe... hmm. Maybe they show different results for different regions IPs hail from. Umbra... Umbra... sounds familiar. I think that was the name of the big, bad enemy in the old 80's combiner robot cartoon, 'The Mighty Orbots'. It was like this big, disembodied head that constantly was changing. Now that I think about it, this is like the first Bionicle toy (that I recall) to have a name from another kid's license. VVV UMBRA: -

Lego to me is "quality materials". As a kid, I only briefly touched on junkier building toys. Tente was made of EXTREMELY fragile, shatter-prone plastic. Lincoln Logs were boring and had splinters. Lego imposters used inferior plastic and couldn't even get the pieces to connect in any sane frequency. But here's Lego... with: --MANY colors to choose from. --White parts that are more resistant to yellowing than any other toy I've seen. --Trans colors that don't turn brown over time. --Glow in the dark that doesn't discolor during extended exposure to ultraviolet light. --Parts that USUALLY match up with each other well. Yeah, Lego to me is the quality of their plastic. Hades forbid they move over to using the same crap plastic every other toy company does... it's OVER. I'd sell my parts bins off and go back to sculpting exclusively with modeling clay. They're not PERFECT, both in manufacturing and in misguided reads on the market, but for all the worldwide, mass-produced sets they need to ship out each year, their track record is ASTOUNDING. Luckily, their negative image of "so politically correct and anti-weapon that I could barf 100% pure cane sugar" was ditched this year. Things are only getting better, so long as they don't sign up with Disney or something.

What do you think that the Toa Inika's backs will look like?
JINZONINGEN73 replied to Kahgarak's topic in LEGO Action Figures
STEEEEEEEEVE Actually, doesn't the name of the game with just about ANY Lego set (ESPECIALLY Technic) just scream "incomplete model" anyway? That's why I steered clear of Lego sets back in the early 80's... those ads on the back of comic books displaying a bare-bones Technic tractor. It was like, "Hmm... 5 Star Wars figures oooooor 1 stick-like tractor. Hmmmm." I guess the thinking is, one has to buy more sets to fill them out, etc etc... But unlike the 80's, Technic sets now gush with good stuff, completeness aside. -

Very helpful. Out of curiosity, do you remember specifically what paint(s) were used on this chick's squishy, Bionicle weapon type plastics? (Like the visor, hands, ...) http://bellsouthpwp.net/d/e/deinonychus/legacy/fatale.html -
What do you think that the Toa Inika's backs will look like?
JINZONINGEN73 replied to Kahgarak's topic in LEGO Action Figures
From what I can see, the backs will probably go the way of "unpainted back" giant monster vinyl figures from Bandai in the 80's. (Translation: Most toy companies only care if a figure looks good from the front). ;-) -

Dayum! What kind/brands of paint do you use? On the all too rare occasion I've tried in the past to paint TFs and other action figs, the paint was sometimes "sticky", not ever quite drying... like the paint was incompatible with the plastics used. (Then again, I'm referencing paints from like 15 years ago, so they're probably better these days...) -

Pretty sweet, faithful jobbies you're poopin' out here. I especially love your remake of Action Master Krok: http://bellsouthpwp.net/d/e/deinonychus/legacy/krok.html You totally have those colors DOWN. That's really similar to his original head, too. Good eye! TF color-swapping is fun, but I like doing as much as possible without physically painting / using photoshop: http://www.maj.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=85629 Stupid question... I've been out of the TF-buying loop a loooong time... ...yours ARE photoshops, right? Like, those aren't all spliced n diced repaints, right? -

http://observer.guardian.co.uk/uk_news/sto...1489635,00.html Yogurt that says hello to you before being eaten (because we have DNA now that configures into circuitry). Airplanes conscious enough they're AFRAID to crash themselves. Brains downloadable to hard drives (well hell, the PS3 is as powerful as 1% of the human brain). None of what they're mentioning here or in the article is "shocking". I mean, this crap is pretty obvious, don't you think? Especially if we're talkin' 2050. "He believes that today's youngsters may never have to die, and points to the rapid advances in computing power demonstrated last week, when Sony released the first details of its PlayStation 3. It is 35 times more powerful than previous games consoles. 'The new PlayStation is 1 per cent as powerful as a human brain,' he said. 'It is into supercomputer status compared to 10 years ago. PlayStation 5 will probably be as powerful as the human brain.'" Take THAT, XBox fanboys! >: D Actually... how powerful is the 360 compared to PS3?

Barferrific. If skeleton arms came in yellow, there MIGHT be hope for customization... but like you said, then his legs would be way long... and whatever were used as shoes would've looked even more silly. It would've had to have been a new piece... and if they had sculpted the arms, he'd have been 100% new parts. :-D

Spongebob isn't a show I can watch over and over, but EVERY episode is worthy of being seen once. It's a kiddy show, but there's some good humor, sometimes adult, hiding all over it. The fig looks ok... but the second someone mentioned there were no sleeves and the legs were inaccurate, it's hard to look at without wondering how much better he could've been. But hey, they have time quotas to meet. Sculpting new legs up might've just derailed their release plans too far.

The 8284 is most... hideous. The whole thing that probably kept me away from Lego growing up was probably Lego's own ads on the back pages of comic books. You'd see like a tractor or other vehicle that had no resemblance to anything... just a pile of beams with no coherency to their placement. I'm all for using a little imagination, but... 8284 is quite a throwback to the early 80's way of Lego Technic. There's no place in the market for such slapped-together things anymore. -

Death metal Stinks!  Bah... they refer to themselves as "glam metal". They just like dressing up all bad and decayed lookin'. ...and spraying the audience with various fake bodily fluids... ...spewed from out of various fake body parts hanging off them... Blech. I mean, I can stomach a few select songs from ANY genre, but I'm a techno boy through and through. As for Gwar... they're vile, but comical. They're a bunch of idiots creating foam rubber costumes and 2-story tall foam monsters to dismember and gut onstage... EVERY concert. I ask you, how cool is that?!? Anyway, Blue Six - Music & Wine

I like it. It's not only a change of scenery... it means there's new Lego sets out there to geek over their parts content.

I'd say, "The hell with it". He'll come around after it becomes apparent he's never seen you puttin' moves on her. You should wonder if maybe she's said something in regards to you... maybe it's she who likes you. You have to admit that a complete disconnection of communication is pretty drastic. Still, hell with it. Just go on livin' your life, friends, relatives, and strangers be damned. It doesn't sound like your fault, so screw it. Friends are nice, but only after you become good enough friends with yourself in the absence of others. If you have friends, but put up with insanity that makes no sense from them, then you're just having friends to say you have them. And having friends just for the sake of having friends... you'll never be your own person or happy. Only GOOD friends aren't an illusion. Just stare him in the face and say, "I really don't know what you're talking about. Sorry." ...then leave him alone until HE talks to you, not the other way around.

One cool feature I see on one site I go to is just below the Members Online part, a button to click that says "last 10 posts". Though I bet such a thing may be a pain in the azz to implement. (Not an Invision board).
