Today I just finished watching The Empire Strikes Back. Another great movie! I didn't know that there would be so much inside this episode - the battle of Hoth was much shorter than I thought! The tauntauns and wampa look very odd (good thing the LEGO versions look much better!), and all the vehicles and scenes are just as I thought they would be. It also had some of the memorable scenes, like Han being frozen in carbonite and using the tow cable on the snowspeeder to take down the AT-AT. And I'm starting to see how marketing works...now I want to buy some Hoth sets and I get minifigs of the main characters I don't have - C-3PO, a non chrome black Darth Vader (although his helmet is pretty shiny), Lando, a Hoth Han and Leia, and a Cloud City Leia. Now, time to watch Return of the Jedi! EDIT: There was one thing I didn't understand, though: what was up with the fake Vader on Dagobah? Was that a robot or a figment of Luke's imagination?

Cool video! It's great to know what AFOLs like about LEGO and what they do on their spare time. I particularly liked the part in the credits where an AFOL was trying to use one of those Racers air stompers. And Nadroj, if you're reading this topic, you better hope that Sandy doesn't fly in unexpectedly from Finland.

Eilif's article is always worth checking out for situations like these. Just do a 'control + f' search for "5) Cleaning that used LEGO" and you're set!

Star Wars The Clone Wars Season 2 Discussion
ILikePi replied to DarthSion's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I was hoping to see more of Cad Bane before the end of the series...they had so many ads about him before this season aired. He was just in the first few episodes, which is a bit disappointing. I hope that Sugi and Embo will also have more appearances before the series ends, too - one episode isn't enough! However, the trailer for the finale episodes looks very interesting, especially with Bossk and a young Boba Fett. -
A Street Fighter MOC: Vega vs. Ken
ILikePi replied to tin7_creations's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I agree, Vega's mask is very cool! Just wondering though, why does Ken have different hair on the K.O. pic? -
Thanks for posting this! The parts that are being removed aren't extremely important to building (except the brown arches and a few other things on the list), but it does take away some cool parts, like the parrot and the stickered pieces from Star Justice, Space Skulls, and Custom Car Garage. Hopefully the update will have some more exciting parts for all of us to enjoy!

Taking all of your guys' advice, I watched my first Star Wars movie today (of the original six; the only other one I watched was Star Wars: The Clone Wars) - episode IV, A New Hope. It was a very cool movie! I thought that it was going to disappoint me after finishing it (mostly because of how old it is - 1977!), but it was very interesting! The stormtroopers are as cool as I thought they would be, as well as Han, Luke, and the rest of the main characters. I also like how Obi-Wan/Ben's spirit was still out there and speaking to Luke throughout the movie. One other thing I enjoyed was that the movie had a whole bunch of the memorable scenes I see in other places often, like the Jedi mind trick and trash compactor. I can't wait to watch The Empire Strikes Back!

These plush figures are interesting. I never saw any of these before except for the one MetroiD posted, so thanks for the pictures! I personally would spend my money on some real sets, but if they have these at a LEGOLAND I might buy it as a souvenir. My cousin has one just like that! He said that he bought it at LEGOLAND California...

Star Wars The Clone Wars Season 2 Discussion
ILikePi replied to DarthSion's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Just finished watching the last three episodes, and they were quite enjoyable to watch! Senate Murders was probably the most boring out of the three. The episodes with more action are always the best! It was quite sad to see Cat and Mouse was interesting. Anakin and Yularen used an interesting technique to . Bounty Hunters was the best of the three. It was great to finally see Sugi and Embo (I thought that they would be with Cad Bane in the series), and it was cool how the Jedi actually worked together with them! It was also good to see Hondo Ohnaka again, but as the main enemy this time. -
It is a bit unfortunate how they still are lower quality, but I'll probably still get a copy as Zolm looks very cool. Thanks for that, Svelte! I was checking the site periodically for them.

Announcing a NEW Reviewer's Academy Initiative

I would like to sign up for this as I always notice small errors, but first, a question: What if I decide that I want to keep on reviewing? Of course, this could be another cunning April Fool's joke set by the staff/teachers - I've never seen tags just given away like this -
Wow, stunning MOC Oky Wan! It reminds me of when I watched almost every episode of Avatar back in the days... This really shows how much potential the LEGO Avatar line had! I would have loved it if TLG made a brick-built Appa similar to your amazing one. I especially like this pic. It captures his classic bored face that you see all the time in the show.

Great find! The sets are looking even cooler, and I love those minifigs in the dump truck set! It looks like Chunk's face can be rolled up and down, so he might have an angry face as well as a smiling one! The purple octopus doesn't seem like a minifig with what seems to be only two pieces, but his facial expression looks nice and it's always good to get more parts in purple. The driver minifig's face looks really weird - hopefully it'll look better when the designs are finalized.

Thanks for the review dabulls03! Looks like a very cool set for $30! A heap of accessories, a camel with two crates balanced on him (neat little addition the the set!), the cloth awning and the two traps are what sell this set for me. Now all I need to do is wait for one of those Borders coupons... Let the race to see who reviews Quest Against Time first begin!

Interesting, so this is similar the New York Toy Fair book, except with some slightly changed pages (it also seems that things like a big picture of Nahdar Vebb, a relief print of the white Boba Fett, and pics of Cad Bane's Speeder's minifigs) If so, hopefully there'll be a wider release of this calalog! I would love to get my hands on this.

A bit unfortunate how you were beat in being the first on EB to review this set, but multiple reviews are always welcome! I have mixed feelings on this set. You do get some amazingly detailed minifigs, a very cool horse, some new accessories and some new colors of parts, but the price-to-parts ratio is at a very high 19 cents per piece, which is much higher than most $10 sets. I'll probably end up buying this anyways because it's the lowest-priced PoP set. Thanks for the review!

Yesterday I went to Target to buy my first LEGO Toy Story sets: Army Men on Patrol and Woody and Buzz to the Rescue! The army men set was on sale for $9 (USD), normally $11, and the RC set was on sale for $18, normally $20. However, there is a printable coupon online for $5 off the RC car set. Plus, I had a little over $4 left in a Christmas gift card, so I only paid about $9 for a $20 set! "Look alive men, and hold your fire until the minesweepers scan the area!" I'll be reviewing Woody and Buzz to the Rescue soon and will post comparison pics of the actual army men and the LEGO ones. Wow! Can't wait to see what you cook up with those minifigs! Wow, 50% off everything is an amazing deal! It's good that some smaller countries are getting great sales.

Another extraordinary review Clone O' Patra! I love the overall look of this set from that three-quarters view! The mix of all these shades of brown and white make the set look amazing. I personally don't think that it's worth $80 (USD), but when you factor in the minifigs, accessories, new color of parts and other things, it does seem like a good price for this set. (I give it an above average [4])

In the beginning, the survey asks you to not disclose any information, so this is confidential stuff. I'd recommend a moderator/admin to remove this topic.

Thanks for the review WhiteFang! I was pondering on getting this set for quite some time, and you've resparked my interest in this set. I'll have to go get this now when Borders has their next 30% off coupon.

Actually Future, if you look at hopeso009's last post in this topic, he says that he is moving to MOCPages. A quick search there reveals his page, which contains 12 of his LEGO Star Wars MOCs. (His page will take quite a while to load, so don't just close it if you see nothing happening)

Oky Wan already made a gigantic, higher resolution version of that box art a couple of pages back (it's cleaner and larger than Brickset's picture). EDIT: Images in quotes turned into links
-
Thanks whung for finding the pictures, and thanks ForceMaster for posting them here. It is a bit disappointing that there's no tactical droid on the CTT box art. It looks like Ahsoka was moved forward a bit to fill up the empty space (compare the newer box art pic with FBTB's photo). I do agree with that - those were probably the worst logos in all of LEGO Star Wars! I love how this one has Captain Rex with lightning in the background.

I congratulate you on doing the first review of a LEGO PoP set, Ricecracker! I was waiting for you to post this in the public forums before commenting, but I couldn't resist reading it before it appeared here. I wasn't very fond about this set (the ostriches seemed to be the only interesting part), but reading your review made me put it on my buy list! Some stunning back prints on the minifigs, and fronts look even better! The gate opening mechanism is a neat little feature, and there's a plethora of tan and other rarer colors in the brown family!
