  1. Thanks for the reply. It seems like a reasonable solution -- though I'm wondering if it is rigid enough to maintain structure...Will check this out.
  2. Hi all, Came across this picture on flickr, I've reached out to the OP, but no reply. Was wondering how do you think the tail was built? I can't figure out how they connect / and have flexibility at the same time, what pieces would allow this? Many thanks!

  5. This is very refreshing to hear. I just wish most people shared your view.
  6. Very well put. I also don't see any compelling evidence that these promos do anything to spur sales. To me they don't really serve any real, tangible purpose except for those lucky few to have some bragging rights. It seems that the most vocal people in favor of this system are those whose bragging rights are in some way going to be diminished or taken away entirely (talk about the tail wagging the dog -- it's an extremely selfish stance for these privileged few if you stop and think about it). In point of fact, it seems pretty clear that any benefits are now being outweighed by the cons. EDIT: In fact, come to think of it, the one group of people who really don't want this system to end are scalpers.
  7. Yeah, the real irony is that the Chinese makers have taken advantage of huge pent up demand for SDCC figures that was created by artificially limited supply that was a result of TLG's own making.
  8. Does anyone know which MARK suit is shown in the Digger318 review of the SY305 set (it's the one Tony is working on and has no legs -- torso only), screen grab here:
  9. Your logic is invalid. Seriously though this is a great point. Indeed, this does not work. Patently False. Not "everyone" has the opportunity to attend Comic Con. No, it means they are alienating customers and fans every year.
  10. I agree that this is a very reasonable compromise (one which I have suggested before), but am happy to see more support behind this. The one issue which is being alluded to by Lind Whisperer is one of timing, logistics and even IP. What happens if the release comes out and then after the time lapse, the IP runs out? I suppose you could have the time release already written into the IP contract... Yes, this is a fantastic point. If anything the SDCC variant should have been the casual Rocket -- (or a completely different uni / outfit). If they had done it this way (i.e. had a completely unique outfit for the SDCC variant) then it would have been possible to collect the entire GotG team members with the same outfit available in the regularly released sets. But as it stands now, the only way to get the matching Rocket is to get the SDCC variant. This is not the way. It's yet another frustration with the current SDCC system.
  11. I was just ribbing you because I saw you made that double post -- relax, if you were really offended, I apologize. I most certainly am interested in engaging in a more civilized and mature discussion and hope to provide input on your thread on that basis. On a general note: I completely welcome this "Pro" SDCC thread with open arms, and I state that with 100% sincerity. Any real issue worth examining has more than one side. I am confident that when both sides are weighed objectively, that in the end, an objective assessment will conclude that the "Con" side considerably outweighs the pro one. I look forward to engaging in this discussion.
  12. Out of curiosity, how many of these threads are you planning on making?
  13. How much for the Lele HB set if I may ask?
  14. Thanks for your input. As I said before, I'm more interested in engaging in a higher level of discussion and will proceed on that basis going forward.
  15. Actually, the Hulkbuster in the LEGO MARVEL Super Heroes video game looks very similar to this (in fact the design is likely a rip-off version of a rendering of the video game version if I had to venture a guess), here is a shot from LEGO's wikia:
  16. Thanks for posting these pics. I was curious as to which minifigs were included since the pics so far were so rough -- looks like the MK7, MK 42 and WM.... I was kind of hoping that there would be some new MKs included.... oh well... But guys check this out -- I'm really curious about how the quality will be for this bad boy (HULKBUSTER) -- crappy pic quality but I haven't seen it anywhere else:
  17. You and I both sir. I'm taking a bit of a breather and will be back later...
  18. You just post 2 Threads titled: 1) "Comic-Con figures confirmed to getting stolen by Scalpers days before" 2) "Comic-Con minifigures" So I made posts about Comic-Con figures on a 2 threads about Comic-Con figures. Points all well taken. But frankly, my posts about SDCC exclusives were in threads that were about SDCC figures, had Comic-Con figures in the titles and were all discussing SDCC exclusives. I'm not sure where there is a sufficient charge about "hijacking" is occurring. It's a baseless charge IMO. It's another tactic to undermine the position rather than arguing the position. Besides, this is coming from a totally new account that appears to be created specifically to target this thread and me -- as I mentioned previously, I will be taking the high road when others try and bait me into swinging for low pitches.
  19. These are fantastic and incredibly relevant points. The dollar values on an absolute basis is not the proper metric. It's comparing the RELATIVE values that illuminates and brings the point home.
  20. Hmm, I guess whenever someone has an opinion you don't agree with it's "hijacking" -- very interesting. You make it seem like there are multiple different threads on completely different topics -- like it was a thread about the World Cup and then all of the sudden I chime in with my view on SDCC exclusives. Um no, these were clearly threads that either began as discussions about SDCC exclusives or were threads that had already ventured into a discussion about SDCC exclusives. Please provide evidence otherwise. I'll be waiting (somehow I got a feeling I'll be waiting a long time). And thanks for your kind suggestion, but you know what? I'm good. I'll speak my mind whenever and however I please without the thought police trying to dictate when and how I speak my mind. Thanks again though.
  21. It's a fair question. This is just one possible solution that I think could be considered. Granted, I think it's a less than ideal solution, but it's one nonetheless. Handing out SDCC exclusives with a "SDCC 20xx" stamped on the minifigures resolves at least two issues: 1) It continues to provide conference attendees with the "conference swag" that people have pointed out is important to them 2) For those who don't attend they don't feel as though they are missing a mainstrean minifig -- it's very clear that these minifigs are promotional exclusives But again, I think it's a sub-optimal solution, but one that is at least better than the system they have in place now. You are confusing confidence with not being fair. I am confident that the merits of my arguments far outweigh the counter arguments. I am happy to have a fair and open discussion and, in fact, I encourage it precisely because my view that when all of the arguments are laid down on the table, it is clear that the "cons" side has a far better case. Being confident and being fair are not mutually exclusive things. Welcome to the community and thanks for your input. Thanks for your input.
