General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread
Clone OPatra replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
I just purchased a copy of Cannibal Escape today, in the U.S., and the instructions and poster were horribly (and I mean really horribly) mangled, not in a separate bag with cardboard. All that I've seen so far on the internet made me think that the instructions and poster would absolutely come in a bag with cardboard, but I suppose there is some variation, since mine was not. Has anybody else got a set with the paper materials not in nice packaging like this? -
I think he should look like EpIII Ani, sort of. The outfit makes him distinctive as CW. Why not throw a test pic of it up?

These are some really nice figures. They capture the cartoony style of the Clone Wars very nicely, and are completely reminiscent of the characters, even the way they are posed. For whatever reason, these really remind me very much of the '03 Clone Wars series, perhaps because that series was far funnier and more cartoony than the new one (something that I like quite a lot). The only suggestion I have is to try and make Anakin's hair seem longer and fuller. Right now, he seems to have short hair, while in the time period that these figures come from (I think) his hair should be long. Otherwise, if you're trying for an earlier period, than Obi-Wan should have the longer hair, but I really like Obi-Wan as he is right now.

If there was, it would probably be to scale, meaning it would be a single round stud… or too small to realize in LEGO. So, that sounds like a pretty unlikely thought. And as to a "follow up" set with Fett in it, there is unlikely to be another UCS set too soon, and I can't think of one that would be a "follow up" to the Executor. If you just mean another set with Fett in it in the near future, that isn't too unlikely if a Cloud City set truly comes around.

Nice review WhiteFang. This set was already on my want list for PotC, and your review just emphasized that. Only two things: Do you have any word on new coins? On the box, some of the coins are not the old LEGO standard but instead have different, weird numbers, but you never mention it. Also, this set isn't the smallest - Captain's Cabin is the smallest, and there is another of the exact same price range (Fountain of Youth).

Ok, please stop quoting pictures. I love these, but I don't need to see them two and three times on the same page. If it's a page away, ok, maybe, but I think a simple "@whoever" would work better. Please stop quoting the pictures. Masked, love these two. I totally agree with the R4 unit one, that has to be one of the stupider things LEGO did SW-minifig-wise. And with the Clones, I'd have to agree with Bricks2000 that those vac suits aren't working too well.

Ok guys, where is this idle and coarse chat about rape coming from? Yes, you can all holler that that's what the wolf wanted to do etc., but in the nicer version of the story nowadays the wolf doesn't want to do much other than eat her. Honestly, it's a funny comic, but not if you read all of these dirty connotations into it. That thought didn't even remotely cross my mind when I saw it.

Yeah, and that's why I wrote 'UCS.' Obviously playsets aren't to scale. Obviously most UCS sets aren't to scale. But when UCS sets aren't to scale, they have always not included figures, until now.
-
I find the argument that there were figures in the Falcon and Shuttle a bogus argument. The sets were designed to be to scale with minifigures, so of course there were figures. What doesn't make sense about this set is that it is the first UCS set not to scale with minifigures that includes figures anyway. I'm not particularly surprised by it, but that's the argument. It doesn't really make sense to have a large display piece with a side helping of figures just for the heck of it, but that seems to be what is going on here. It seems unlikely to me that the central part will lift off, just because the model doesn't look quite stable enough to have play going on in its center. Besides, since this is an AFOL-targeted set, LEGO probably does not feel the need to include a play area.

It's here, episode 224. It's not written anywhere; you have to listen to it.

Uh… do new Dengar and possibly new Imperial Officer not count as new figs to you? It could be an actual-name officer this time, there's no way to know until the information comes out. Dengar is definitely a complete redo, though. Who did you want to see, 4-Lom or Zuckuss?
-
I think that LEGO has at this point fully realized the extent to which many people love minifigures. Obviously, the collection of figures doesn't have anything to do with the Super Star Destroyer at all, but hey, who wouldn't want them? Plus, it looks like a new head-wrap (and I'm sure a new face) for Dengar. So, sure, it doesn't make much sense, but it doesn't really make any less sense than Obi-Wan being in the new podrace set. I guess it's just a new trend to through figures into absolutely everything to help it sell, especially after the failure of the Jedi Starfighter UCS.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Clone OPatra replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
At the NY Toy Fair both troopers were the same, but in all promotional images Commander Wolffe has had distinct Wolffe printing. I don't think there will be any way to know for sure until someone actually gets the set. -
Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 4 Discussion
Clone OPatra replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Nooooooooooooooo! Seriously, though, don't hire Zahn because of past ideas that he's had, but because of awesome things he may be able to come up with to enhance the show. They really need better story ideas a lot of the time. However, now that Lucas comes up with all of the stories, we'll just have to see how that goes… -
Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 4 Discussion

And that is, I'm sure, exactly what they want you to think. The Season 3 teaser trailers were packed with action too, because over the course of the entire season there was enough action to pack a one-minute clip. I'm not saying that Season 4 won't be action-packed, but there's no real way to tell from a teaser trailer, or any trailer at all. As to extending into RotS, I am absolutely sure that will not happen. It just wouldn't make any sense to do so, not only because of the original Clone Wars show but also because of the film itself. You see what happen to the Jedi; they die. Sure, plenty of additional sources show you just what happens to other Jedi that weren't shown in RotS, but honestly the film in my mind gives you the picture that Lucas wants you to have of what happens to all the Jedi. There is no possibility that Clone Wars would turn into "stories of eradicating the Jedi." -
Action Theme Funnies

Ah, I see this thread hadn't died! Ok… No Facelift -
Don't forget 10027 Train Engine Shed. That was the first set where I noticed the coffee machine. I had no idea it dated so far back!

Why next time? It will take about three seconds to edit your post and press enter so that it will look better for those members with big screens. There's no reason to remember that for 'next time.' Also, what are you doing to your pictures to make them so grainy? It doesn't look like something that would happen in-camera.

Not even with the wand? And the kid on the floor with a pool of blood? But I really thought the wand was a dead giveaway. And you are correct: ADHO15: 6 AndyC:1 Brickdoctor: 2 RejectedShrimp: 4 Chucker: 1 Cralegoboy: 1 simonjedi: 4 sok117: 3 TinyPiesRUs: 1 Clone O'Patra: 1

I guess it didn't strike me because she looked familiar to me. It's certainly Adi Galia: -
Aren't you supposed to put this thing in? I guess I will… ADHO15: 5 AndyC:1 Brickdoctor: 2 RejectedShrimp: 4 Chucker: 1 Cralegoboy: 1 simonjedi: 4 sok117: 3 TinyPiesRUs: 1 Clone O'Patra: 1 Did I do that right? Here's a fairly easy one…

Oh c'mon. It's Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. I never was really so interested to participate in this game, but that one is so obvious!

Hello legojazzbricks, it seems you're fairly new, but please try to use proper punctuation and the like when you post. We require that sort of thing here. As to your funny, I really like the idea of it and the punch-line, but it probably got looked over because of the very poor image quality. Are you using some kind of effect on it? It looks very grainy, and green, and hard to see. Also, you should get an account on an image hosting site like Brickshelf or Flickr so that you can deeplink your images instead of having to attach them. That way, you can make them bigger and they will look more streamlined in your posts. Judging from that first funny, I am sure you have some more great material, but you need to work on your presentation a bit so that they will be better noticed.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 4 Discussion
Clone OPatra replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Although the preview looks awesome, I don't understand why the Clones barely have the ridge on their helmets. It looks as if they have nearly no ridge at all, whereas in EpIII it's quite prominent. Is this another stage of Clone helmets? And two double-bladed lightsabers seems like overkill, but that's still neat. This season looks dark from the previews, but that's probably because they just picked the dark stuff. There must be plenty of happy boring filler as well.
