  1. Here's the latest of my new batch. So Old
  2. From FBTB's Toy Fair coverage: It may end up looking a little different in the final version, but it will be in the set in one form or another. From the picture in the catalog that Aanchir posted earlier, the final printing on the globe seems to be brown.
  3. No, I'm pretty sure it was. It wasn't a compilation of episodes; it was actually it's own film. That doesn't make it good, but that's what it was. I have read that Lucas claims Star Wars is the story of Anakin Skywalker, and so anything after RotJ isn't Lucas' story and he doesn't really care about it. That is why he decided against making a 'Luke' trilogy to be set after RotJ.
  4. Time for the first of two groaners… So Gold
  5. Really? I'm pretty sure that for the last several years every set has had at least one slightly new figure. The January 2011 range certainly did, as did last summer's range.
  6. Hmm, interesting. I now understand what it means by "rebuilds into London bus or regular bus" about the Knight Bus: it just means the layers are stackable, two layers for London bus, one layer for regular bus. What I find more intriguing is that they now call Battle of Hogwarts just Hogwarts. Yes, it is a mashup of different Hogwarts rooms, but seeing the minifigures included and the artwork it would still make more sense to leave it as Battle of Hogwarts. The problem with the name 'Hogwarts' to me is that when I think Hogwarts I think a whole castle, not just two towers. And I really don't think that these towers will go very well with last fall's Hogwarts, but we shall see.
  7. One of the reasons that it might work better with EpIII troopers is because they're far more subtle. Even though their prints are somewhat simple compared to CW Clones, EpIII Clones are still my favorite. Their helmets and subtle differences are so classy.
  8. My contribution for today: Going Green
  9. Ah, I'd forgotten that one! I stumbled into so many alternative ways for that punch line being a joke without even knowing it. I like your second punch line better Praiter. The first one makes me cringe just thinking about if they replaced the iconic Vader voice.
  10. Hmm, now that I think about it, there could even be that added meaning of Barbossa telling Vader to say 'ar!' because Barbossa is a pirate. Still, my original meaning was a take on The King's Speech (hence the title The Lord's Speech). Geoffrey Rush, who plays Barbossa, also plays the speech therapist in The King's Speech. In the film, he calls the king Bertie, which is why I have him calling Vader 'Ani.'
  11. I've made a few more. Hooray! Still, I really don't expect many people to get this one without some explaining. The title might help you get there, though. The Lord's Speech
  12. What don't you understand about the 'don't bump your topic' rule? If somebody was interested in your post, somebody would've replied or pm'ed you. There's really no need to bump your topic with another useless post.
  13. Same basic concept, but still funny for different reasons. I like yours (as always) because your photography consistently knocks mine out of the park. I really need to make some more of my own soon. I feel slightly guilty that I've fallen to the wayside (again), but even more guilty that I spent so much money on CW figs and now have not been putting them to any use for months! For shame! I do have another multi-theme crossover with external pop culture references in mind, so perhaps I will get to it sometime. I'm not sure anybody would get it though; we'll see…
  14. The Rockefeller Center store is one of the only LEGO stores that marks up its sets (I believe the Hawaii store does too). To my knowledge, it has to do with the very high rent in Rockefeller Center, and of course the very captive audience of tourists. All the other LEGO stores should have the same prices.
  15. You don't have to be a MOD to deeplink images. Since you're on flickr, just keep clicking on the image until you get to the page that gives you several different size options. If your images are big to start out with, make sure to choose the medium 640 option, then get the direct link for the image, hit the little image icon (between link and envelope icons) when posting, paste in the link, and you will have your image deeplinked. That may have been the short version of it, but there are also tutorials here that show you how to do the same thing with more description.
  16. No, I think it's more of a weapons targeting screen type thing, since she is a spy after all.
  17. Noreha, awesome job with that tiled floor pic. It really looks realistic. There is only one problem that detracts from it - the way the Bounty Hunter Gunship is with it's turbines up is not physically possible. In reality, the engines rotate down so that it can rest on a surface, but the way that you have them in flight mode would make the model just tip over backwards. Other than that, it looks fantastic.
  18. I agree very much with Solscud above me. This MOC truly embodies what I imagine when I (sometimes shamefully) read Star Wars novels that have Uglies in them. It really looks like somebody took big chunks of both ships, did a bit of welding and rewiring, and then took off. Excellent job.
  19. LT, I think you forgot your 'parting shot' of Cars 2 packing heat - you have a line for it, but then no picture. The last picture is halfway through Mater's build.
  20. If you're talking about the guy in the article, he isn't in jail, seeing as the article is entitled "Police Release Man Accused…" I just hope that that last sentence of the article didn't mean that they impounded his car when the LEGO was still in it. They used very ambiguous wording in that sentence.
  21. I agree, this paintjob on McQueen looks much nicer (I thought it looked better than his racing paint did in the film as well). It's just a shame that those lovely printed 2x4 tiles stick out like that; it ruins the streamlined effect. He's still a cute little character, though.
  22. So is Mater exactly the same as in the 'Classic Mater' set just with add-ons, or his expression different? I do like that pink car, although the 'Spy Zone' itself seems pretty useless.
  23. Well, LEGO went ahead and created a better, much more complex AT-ST for the Battle of Endor, so maybe the will actually give us a better, more complex T-47 in this set. The AT-ST wasn't perfect, but it surprised me how much better and more complicated it was than the past AT-ST's, so maybe a completely redone Snowspeeder is in the works if this truly is a Battle of Endor size set. The Battle of Endor set has to be one of the best Star Wars sets in quite a while (at least for me), and possibly the best SW playset period, so maybe this Hoth set will follow closely in its footsteps. I would be very happy if it did.
  24. You know, it's clear to me that you like this set and yet you've sort of convinced me not to get it. This was going to be one of only two Cars sets that I wanted, but the model just looks pretty ugly to me. It looks elongated somewhat compared to the character, or maybe that's just my perception. For whatever reason, this set just does not seem as appealing anymore.
  25. And the smirking face was originally Brude Wayne's, but then used for many other stock Licensed characters.
