I like him. Not as much as the Toa or Protectors, but he's still a purchase on sight for me. I love his color scheme aside from the yellow gears. I do agree that he does look like he would be easily squished by any of the Toa though...

I do wish that we were getting mask packs this year. It's quite difficult to create unique individual MOCs when limited to just the masks that come with established characters. A red Hau will always indicate Tahu, whereas a white Hau can be anyone. LEGO could have included two masks and a Skull Spider per pack. It would have been a great way to acquire unique masks and to increase one's Skull Spider army.

I love Scooby Doo, so I would be very much in favor of it being made into Lego, but I'd honestly prefer something unlicensed that can be combined with Monster Fighters, which is my favorite Lego theme of all time. I wonder if Legomilk has heard anything about this?

How could one go about attaching a Metru/Mata head to a Protector torso? It's just such a good Matoran design, it is just begging to be used to make the old Mata-Nui Matoran characters.

Lewa looks better than I anticipated. His silver claw neck armor actually looks pretty good.

I have a question for people who own the sets. How does Kopaka look with the torso piece from the 2012 version of Nex? I think his chestplate should cover the orange printing and the piece itself still looks pretty "Bionicle" in its aesthetic. (There are also purple and red versions to use on Onua and Tahu too.)

My local TRU does not have anything yet and they consistently put stuff out very early. (i was the first person on this site to get Ultra Agents or Arctic City this year thanks to them.) Last year, they put new Ninjago out in late November, so that is the earliest I anticipate them releasing Bionicle. However, I think early to mid December is more likely.

I'm not entirely sure that this is the right place for this, but I need some help on selecting good parts to use in creating minifigs of the members of my favorite band, Sabaton. I think I can probably figure out something for most of them, but I'm stumped on how to make their frontman Joakim Brodén. His goofy mohwak and highly sculpted goatee have me stumped, and I'm pretty sure his vest is totally unworkable without custom pieces. (His sunglasses are optional.) Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Toys R Us usually gets the winter waves in early-mid December for Christmas with some themes occasionally a bit earlier.

So these should start trickling into stores in a few weeks, right? End of November/early December?

That issue never came up for me. Granted, I skipped a LOT of sets from that era, but I do not recall ever seeing it in what I did get. I suppose I got lucky.

Why couldn't Lego just choose between either gold or sliver instead of using both? He'd look much better with just one or the other. Alas, it doesn't matter too much. I still think he's fantastic regardless.

So I'm assuming that if you attach the trans reddish-orange small shell on his shoulders directly to the ball joint rather than putting the little black connector part on first, the arms won't be able to move? That's unfortunate.

As a Bionicle fan since the beginning, I suppose I should give my two cents as well. I have some issues with the CCBS, but I've recently bought some Chima Ultrabuilds that have alleviated some of my concerns and the ease of modification that the CCBS offers should allow for us to pretty easily fix anything we don't like about the news sets. Yes, the skeleballs can look gappy and strange at times, (Looking at you, back of Tahu's lower legs.) but if given a choice between the new stuff and late era Bionicle, I'll try the new stuff every time. Has everyone just forgotten how bad the last couple of years were for the original run? Most of the sets from '07-'10 were only useful as parts packs because the designs were so incredibly lazy. The worst of the worst were the Phantoka/Mistika Nuva, which had bland colors, overused ugly designs, and absolutely zero resemblance to the characters they were supposed to depict. In other words, a complete waste of time and money. I was GLAD that Bionicle ended the first time because I felt that it deserved to die off because of how bad it had gotten towards the end. Five years later and we have a reboot that utilizes a different building system to the crappy Piraka/Inika mishmashes we got towards GeeWun's end while being aesthetically closer to the original three years in art style and possessing character design that is heavily based on the classic heroes' original looks. Does the CCBS have problems? Yes, but is it light-years beyond the Piraka/Inika-based messes? Certainly. Now, as an old school GeeWunner, (Referred to as '01ists back in the day on BZP.) I am still heavily biased in favor of the old stuff. The '01-'03 era was and still is an absolute masterpiece of set design and engaging story-telling, especially considering the tumultuous era of Lego history it came from. '04-'05 was another quantum leap in set design and story complexity that was absolutely brilliant, and even '06, despite introducing designs that I would later hate after they got regurgitated by Lego a zillion times later, was still well designed, well written, and a lot of fun. Those six years defined by adolescence and will always be special to me. However, I must say that even though I'm twenty-one years old now, these new sets have sparked that same excitement for me that I had back then. So regardless of my lingering wariness towards the CCBS, I look forward to the release of the new sets with great anticipation and will buy every single one as soon as I see them.

I had forgotten how intense Bionicle discussion gets. Everyone hyper-analyzing every little thing. 313 pages already? Whoa. Just like the good-ish old days.

Here's some praise from me for the CCBS. The ease of customization is wonderful. I didn't like CHI Worriz or Eris at first, but after a bit of fiddling that only involved repositioning and swapping out a few shells and bones, I have them looking much much better. This was feasible with Bionicle too of course, but it was more difficult. I had the luxury of a near-complete collection dating back to '01 (Yes, I'm a grouchy '01 fanbo that seems to be so hated here.) so I had the parts to do whatever I wanted, but someone without such a library or parts would have had a hard time of that.

Personally, I am very excited now after having seen the TTV videos. I hadn't made up my mind whether or not Bionicle would be the first thing from the upcoming release season that I would get, but I have now. I'm definitely getting Bionicle first ahead of Ultra Agents, DC Superheroes, and the City demolition team.

Eh... I don't know that I'll ever really like the CCBS. Granted, I only own CHI Worriz and Eris, so my experience is limited, but that's because it just doesn't appeal to me much. It ends up looking really gappy and the uncovered bits of the bones end up looking really skinny and awkward. Even attempts to fill in the backs, which is appreciated, don't really work for me because since all the shell pieces are so thin and flat, they don't add any substance to the build and results look quite hollow. I also really don't like how it seems that shoulders typically look under-armored. This is because the shell pieces don't reach far enough up the bone to cover the connection point at the should, so there ends up being exposed ball joints that make the figures look too skinny. Finally, even though people insist that the CCBS is extremely versatile, (And this is actually easy enough to see in this years HF sets, so I'm not saying it is entirely untrue.) I just have difficulty seeing how to make a standard Toa type biped any differently than the standard method.

I generally like the designs, I guess, but I'll admit I'm still not used to the CCBS as a whole, so I dunno if I'll like them. I'll get Kopaka and Pohatu to start with and see how I like them.
