Ah but maybe the ship is bigger on the inside than it is on the outside.

There isn't really anyone to submit it to. Heroica RPG is pretty much first come first serve, with Sandy having the final say in disputes. If someone has done a bit of work with a particular race or a location then it is common courtesy to talk to them about it first, but if no one has done anything with it yet, feel free to make it up as you go. One is indeed in the works for you new folks. Which sounds cooler, ghost ship or rampaging monster in the middle of the night?

Heroica RPG- Quest #96: Tying up Loose Ends

"Great, more sorcery." Skrall walks over to the girl next to the bookshelf and levels his crossbow at her. "What's yer name and what are ya doin' here?" -
Welcome Daeth, good to see a new cleric around. Do note that clerics can only use Hammers, Maces, Staves, or Broomsticks though.
-
Nope, Expert Job classes are dependent upon your reputation with certain in game factions.

An interesting idea, very pokemonesque. I'm surprised we haven't seen it utilized before.
-
Ah that's the one I was thinking of.

Brickdoctor's/Scubacarrot's quests are good for great photography and interesting new battle mechanics. (Quests 4 & 23) Endgame's are great for final boss battles. (Quest 48) RumbleStrike and Kintober have some great intro quests that are easy to follow. (Quests 13 & 61) Zepher's are wonderful examples of long story archs and in depth character development (Quest 19) Sandy/CMP's are good for wonderful NPC's and interesting stories (Quests 14 & 51) For a list of Players and QM's who have a lot to offer in interacting with or learning from you can read through the 2013 fan awards, The Henrys

I think the puzzle was definitely solvable. The only stretch was that the jailer would have the key, other than that, it was fine. I didn't have Skrall attempt it for in character reasons, but I was slowly solving it as soon as someone passed him the note under the door. I like puzzles and think you should keep them in. More to say after the quest is done though.

"Yer tellin' me. Now, to Zoe?" Skrall indicates the door behind them. -
Dang, was slowly getting there. Maybe next time.

OoC: Not sure if this is intentional, but are we to assume one of the guards is paid a wage of 20? You have the wage of 40 listed twice. "Great, a spreadsheet." The ogre rolls his eyes. -

OoC: Got it, give me a moment then. "If ya don't got a key, anything else in that room that might prove helpful?" -

OoC: I think the problem is that we don't know what the puzzle is. If it's related to the guards' schedule/pay/etc. then perhaps, but if it's a big game of hide and seek for the key than probably not. "Gettin' quiet in there." -
If you've read the Theater topic, then I'm sure you've read the relationships part so I won't expound too much on the subject. The way I see things, relationships in RPing just for the sake of the trope or to reveal certain information about your character tends to come out forced. Don't plan too far ahead with your character's development, to do so isn't RPing, it's storytelling and that's more the domain of QM's. If you allow other players, quests, NPC's to have an impact on how your character grows and changes it will tend to be more realistic and natural as opposed to forced character archs. Too often great character development is discarded because it doesn't necessarily "fit" what the player had originally preconceived for their character.
-
Depends on whether it's your own NPC or someone else's. Skrall's wife is more of a backstory NPC and never interacts with him. Tarn and Ella are an example of a PC and a QM controlled NPC relationship, Nyx (PC) and XX (QM controlled NPC) are another.

The experience system is somewhat exponential, in that as the game goes on more and more players become equally powerful, however it does mean that it can and probably will take the average player 4-5 years before they gain access to another character.
-
Sandy did make a ruling on this specific case, but I can't remember what his decision was on it. You could argue for either one really.
-
And there-in lies one of the oddities/artistic-liberties of Heroica. "Were-" is used to refer both to those who transform between a human form and an animal form as well as races of humanoid animals (i.e. Furries basically). But as Sandy mentioned, as long as The Demon Germ is represented by a minifigure you'll be good.
-
So sort of like a were-cat? Only mentioning it as we've had some players that have wanted to play animals in the past and were discouraged against it and I wasn't sure if that was what you were going for. There is a class that is an animal shape-shifter though if you're interested.

Welcome to Heroica Actaeon and Samuraiturtle. Feel free to RP in the Hall, learn about the world in the Library, Embassy, Treasury, NPC Index, and Bestiary threads or discuss theory, mechanics, meta-topics in the QM Lounge, Theater, Rules & FAQ, or this very thread. We generally have around 40 players active, but it's a casual game so people come in and out with varying degrees of involvement and we're all happy to answer any questions you might have. Samuraiturtle, is your character an actual cat in gameworld or some sort of feline humanoid/demon?
-
Not really, as with the base classes, it's really only a small power increase that is added to the final calculation as opposed to a raw power multiplier which is where numbers really start to get crazy.

Barbarians are about on the same scale as Rangers when it comes to damage output. Granted frenzy hits more enemies in certain situations, but that's about it, triple shot is actually more beneficial as soon as you're down to two or less enemies. Rangers have more health, due to back row and generally get about as much SP as a barbarian, so in my book the difference between Rangers and Barbarians is basically personal flavor preference. If you're concerned about making the class cool and giving it its own niche, I'd say let them do 2*WP on a normal hit, it increases their damage output (their niche) without being super OP (i.e. they would generally do on average +1 WP worth more damage than a Ranger who's real niche is the back row and secondary niche is high damage output.)
