Heroica RPG - Quest #116: The Tale of Two Faces
Waterbrick Down replied to Waterbrick Down's topic in The Heroica Archive
"You gentlemen heading out?" -
Skrall gives a puzzled look at Dyric, before a slight gleam of remembrance twinkles in his eye. The ogre grabs two more tankards of ale before joining Dyric at his table. "Been quite awhile Rone, hasn't it." Skrall slides the second tankard over to Dyric.
-
Noticing an influx of heroes, Skrall finds his way to the bottom of the stairs. After giving a long hard stare at the quest board, the ogre signs up for Quest 120.

"Probably Swifthorn's or the observatory, not sure what you'll be expecting to find in the dark though." -

Hoke notes that one of the doors is the room he came out of from Moira. Behind the other, Hoke discovers a cyclops and an orc in a rather intimate situation. -
Aesthetically yes. It still has the same mechanical effect though.

"I'm afraid this map is of the underground, Master Knight, and from the sounds of it, I doubt your monster could even fit down there." "Four nights back, had to be close to 1 in the morning when I was coming back." -

"Not sure what it has to do with this monster." Wetnose does not hand over the map. -

"Yes, it's Pennypinch and no, I haven't the slightest idea what it meant by it. It was so very late and I was just trying to get home." Hoples offers his handkerchief. "Here you are Miss. No, gentlemen, we don't have any reports of missing persons or murders of that nature surrounding the case, that doesn't necessarily mean stuff doesn't get unreported mind you. As for incidents, we have the one with Ms. Pennypinch here, Mr. Mando, the incident with Master Swifthorn, and the property destruction at the Marketplace and the Observatory." -

"It's exact words were 'You'll never be her'." The Fairy still trembles. -

Polly gives a long whistle. "It's big. It's like the ocean, just lots of grass. So what are we going to do, if they have the missionary man all tied up, or put him in prison? Ooo or maybe they ate him!" -

The Fairy tentatively descends and meets with Hoke and Benji near the entrance of the room. "It was very late, I was coming back here after a job when it happened. It was... it was... awful." The Fairy sheds a few tears and is visibly shaken. "It came at me, it's huge bulk blotted out the moon and then... then... it spoke." The Fairy breaks down in sobs. "Now look what you've done. You've ruined a perfectly good evening, sodding heroes." "I tend not to get myself mixed up in all these politics. Me, if the Wolfgang wants to act all civil and such, then they need to pull their act together and stop behaving like criminals. There's talk of the group doing some good work in the Hovels, don't know much about that myself. All I know is that this city ain't one for changing quickly, word is some of the local crime gangs are looking into joining up with the houses to make sure things stay the same." -

The Fairy pauses at the mention of a monster for a moment, but then continues her dance. "They've seen to much..." "Nonsense, Wetnose. Master Knight, some of my employees, have heard rumors of this terror that is walking the streets at night as of late, but it is of little concern to us. As for the use of the room, you'll find from the Madame that we have paid the dues required to utilize this space for the rest of the evening. Now if you'll excuse us, this is a private meeting." -

"Oh The Lotus is quite the establishment, purveyor of some of the best companions in Eubric. Master Hinckwell over there's been here a few times. Bollins is a regular, so's the Cyclops upstairs, I think he might be a member of the Watch or something or another." Hoke turns the key and the door unlocks, the Mystic Knight steps into the room Benji quick behind followed by Hoples. Inside the duo note a Metasimian and Werewolf in fine attire, across a table full of gold and a wanted poster of Ulric, head of the Wolfgang, two rather unsavory individuals appear to be studying a map of the Eubric sewers. A fairy dances in the background. "I'm sorry, wrong room." -

"Oh, I've got a right good looking lady. Ms. Eliza Pennypinch, she seems to busy right now with another customer I'd guess. She doesn't seem to be around." "Sure, be careful with him. He's one of the few eyewitnesses we have." To Hoke's frustration, none of the keys seem to work and the door remains locked. Perhaps Hoke is missing something. "Um, any trouble gentlemen?" -

"I'll drink to that. Here's to no attachments except to our glasses!" The elf downs his drink in one gulp. "So any of the girls?..." Benji heads upstairs, of the three rooms he's hears talking from the first, moaning from the second, and what sounds like gold being spilled on a table from the third. -

"No." The gentleman takes another drink and turns his attention back to the dancing elf. "Precisely. Why tie yourself down when there's an entire world out there waiting for you. So what do you do when you're not hunting monsters my good sir?" -

"Pennypinch. Yeh she works here. She's upstairs at the moment." "And deprive the lovely ladies of this city from my full attention? There isn't anyone currently tying me down if you want to know." -
I love it when NPC's unintentionally become homages.

"I can't say I know him vell personally, but I've seen him here ovten and we've both enjoyed a drink or two together. Likes the Eliza girl, I know that." Hoke doesn't spot anything that seems suspicious or out of place and follows Moira to a private room.
