Mafia School: Fabuland Housewives Discussion Thread
Hinckley replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
If you do not want to use your night action you should still send me a PM (using your role PM, of course) stating that you do not wish to use it. If anybody is forgetting about theirs, then that will reflect in your grades... -

Mafia School: Fabuland Housewives - Day One
Hinckley replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
It was late in the day when two goons showed up at Marcus and Lily's house. Knock Knock Knock. "Hello?" Marcus Mouse greeted his guests. "Good afternoon, sir," Pauly Pig said, "We're the Mafia goons who are to escort you to the Mayor's office." "Oh dear," Marcus Mouse said, "This is not good at all. I'm sure I can prove I'm not a member of The Mafia, I don't trust a mayor who sends Mafia goons to escort me." "You can file a complaint at City Hall." Pauly Pig laughed. Marcus Mouse's family watched as he was escorted off by the criminals. Everyone was there, his mother Gertrude Goat, his wife Lily Lamb, his brother Payton Pig and his sister-in-law Bianca Lamb. "Oh, I do hope you were right about this, dear sister." Lily Lamb said to Bianca Lamb. "Don't worry," Bianca Lamb said to Lily Lamb, "The Mayor is just questioning him. No matter what side Marcus is on, we can work through it together..." The family stood and watch silently until their beloved Marcus Mouse was out of sight. ________________________ Day 1 is over. Day 2 will be posted once all night actions are in and I've had time to photograph. Those with night actions need to submit them to me, using your role PM, within about 24 hours from the time of this post. Late night actions will not be accepted. -

But what do you need to be visual? There's the mafia handbook we've linked you to 100 times which explains the roles...with pictures. I've told you already there aren't any clues in the game's pictures, so being visual isn't going to help you. You need to read what is being said. If you can't do that, you're going to fail. If you're still looking for pictures, you have a profound misunderstanding of how to play a mafia game. It could start earlier if everyone had their night actions in...but so far that has not happened. -

Well, duh, of course you should. Especially since I wrote it. Fabuland Housewives And you can call me Hinckley in the discussion thread. And nobody should be posting in character in this thread or talking strategy. Even the conversation about if you made the right decision should be saved for Day 2. Thanks. -

If you guys made the right decision or not, the reasoning is the worst. You should never base decisions on a character's description or any outside influence, in this case the comic on which the game is based. This game is about learning who is lying through personal interaction. I would not make it so easy as to purposely make the mayor's employees the scum. That's not a game, it's a lame riddle. Sounds like you guys have learned this lesson. Again, this isn't to say Marcus is innocent or guilty, but you cannot make decision this way, regardless. -
I like my old undies better than my new stuff :P - from I Scream Clone because it is true. I like my old undies much better than my new stuff. And I do like this much better. Any title with underwear in it is a good title.

Don't read it. I just said don't base any decisions on it. You quoted it. Aren't you even reading what you are quoting??? Why would you think you should go read it? You need to take time, slow down and read and pay attention to what I'm saying. -

Progress Report At the end of Day One: Fuzzylegobricks - You've improved very much today in terms of understanding the rules. However, you still need to pay attention to what's being taught. Your argument against Marcus was pure metagaming. And why would the rest of you follow a person who takes three attempts to vote correctly? Anyway, it's very important that you read the lessons instead of going off on your own and doing whatever you feel like. Otherwise, great adjustments. You asked a lot of questions and didn't really understand what was going on at first. You're catching up but there's room for improvement. Ro87n - Wow, you almost got yourself killed today. Keep asking questions if you're confused. We're here to help and teach. But, also, take some initiative to learn the game. There are resources out there and you don't seem to be even reading the rules and lessons I am posting. This is a very specific game and you need to understand it to play. It's fun, but you can't just come in and do whatever you want. This is not about roleplay. Some of your actions today detracted from the game and confused other players. You were given a homework assignment and rushed it. That won't get you a passing grade here. After your homework, you seemed to start to understand things better. Keep working for it and I'm sure you'll do great. Everyone else - doing at least all right so far. It's important to remember to not metagame. And unless the host tells you something is happening (i.e. someone is tied up in a back room) it isn't happening. -

Oops. Sorry. Vote tally Marcus Mouse (Bricks2000): 9 votes (Fuzzylegobricks, R087n, Dannylonglegs, MetroiD, Alex the Great, Masked Builder, Donut, MacK, Alopex) *Rumble Strike's vote doesn't count because it's not in the right format. Gregor Goat (Rumble Strike): 1 vote (Bricks2000) A conviction has been reached. Marcus Mouse (Bricks2000) has been convicted. He will be brought to the mayor at sundown. (I will not be able to post the day's conclusion for about 14 hours.) At this time, since Marcus's affiliation won't be revealed until Day 2, those with night actions can PM them to me now. You have 36 hours to get them in to me, but the sooner you get them in, the faster Day 2 can start. If you do not use your role PM to send your night actions, they will not be counted! Lesson 4 Part 2 While the characters and relationships in this game are based on my comics, the roles and affiliations are not. Assuming that someone is town or mafia based on what they do in the comic or their occupation in the comic will not help you. Roles were chosen completely randomly. This is not just an advertisement for my comic. Besides, if the vote against Marcus was based on the comic, which is what I've been told, then you didn't read the entire first season, or you would know Marcus is the hero. Don't base any more votes off info or plots from the comic! That is metagaming and it will get you nowhere. -

Vote tally Marcus Mouse (Bricks2000): 8 votes (Fuzzylegobricks, R087n, Dannylonglegs, MetroiD, Alex the Great, Masked Builder, Donut, MacK) *Rumble Strike's vote doesn't count because it's not in the right format. Gregor Goat (Rumble Strike): 1 vote (Bricks2000) You have less than 12 hours to reach a conviction. Lesson 4 Metagaming From Wikipedia: "Metagaming is a broad term usually used to define any strategy, action or method used in a game which transcends a prescribed ruleset, uses external factors to affect the game, or goes beyond the supposed limits or environment set by the game. Another definition refers to the game universe outside of the game itself. In simple terms, using out-of-game information, or resources, to affect one's in-game decisions." Metagaming should be avoided because using outside information to make inferences about the game can lead to bad choices. -

Mafia School: Fabuland Housewives - Day One

Lesson 3 Non-playing characters cannot be voted for and don't have "actions." When you see a non-playing character (NPC) kill someone, like Bruno killing Patrick, it is part of the narrative. Shadows is not actually playing this game. He is representing NPCs and will be constantly killed as a joke. Information and storyline...and sometimes fun are part of the narrative. The game is played amongst the players. Other players are going to be trying to kill you and use their night actions on you. The mafia members you want to vote out are among the other players in the game. It is hard to reach a conviction on the first day, but there are no clues. You have your interactions to base your decision on. It will get easier as the game progresses. As the thread title "Mafia School: Fabuland Housewives - Day One" suggests, this is the day phase of the game. If you have a night action, you cannot use it until the night phase begins. I will announce when that happens (as stated in the rules, 72 hours after the start of the game, or when a conviction is reached) and ask for night actions to be PMed to me at that point. Don't send them in before then. Thank you. -

Mod note: There are no day actions and if you are following The Unofficial Mafia Handbook, there are no roles that tie somebody up in a back room with no lights. Therefore, the current character being tied up is added by that player and should not be treated as something set in motion by the host or the game mechanics. -
