Kylo Ren's Tie Silencer revealed! (Although we already knew how it looked from the Lego leaks didn't we? )

Member ban reasons are usually kept private, in respect to the member banned in a sort of way. Why parade them around as public examples after their ban as examples of "This is what they did wrong!"? I can only think of two high profile bannings recently (VaderFan and CM4Sci) and in both cases both members stated why they were banned long before the mods ever did (VaderFan had a post on his blog hours before this conversation started detailing he had violated the confidential image policy and that he wished us well). These are exceptions to the rules about discussing bans, and not the norm.

What not enough promotional material?? Sorry I can't hear you over this new promotional video release!

When the Disney-Lucasfilm purchase was first announced in 2012, I felt Disney's track record with Star Wars themed rides in their parks was really impressive and a testament that they had the chops to handle the whole franchise. Last night we got the unveiling of the high detailed full model of the coming Star Wars Land to the theme parks, and I am pretty darn impressed! I want this model in Lego now! http://www.starwars.com/news/d23-doug-chiang-interview-star-wars-themed-land-disney-parks EDIT: Also I found a great video tour of the model!

Marvel Superheroes 2017 - Set Discussion
xboxtravis7992 replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
That would be wonderful if they were over. I could stop worrying about rare characters being exclusive releases at SSCC, and instead hope they get released in sets (like Ms. Marvel and Ghost Rider).- 5,808 replies

LEGO Star Wars 2017 Pictures and Rumors
xboxtravis7992 replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Looking at what Delta Customs shared on Instagram, I think the Tie-Fighter and the Resistance Bomber are my favorites. Especially the Bomber since it has that ungainly OT look I like. The two walkers are odd... The gorilla face is cool on the big one, but really Rey exclusive to the largest set? Finalizer is okay, but it looks kind of squat. I know the FO Star Destroyer looks squat in the films to, but the Lego-ness of it seems to make it even worse (can't believe I just said that...). I still kind of like it, but it is probably out of my budget especially since the Falcon from 2015 is still on shelves for a similar price and far more interesting set (not to mention the Saturn V set I still want to get also grabbing my attention...). BB-8 UCS is cool looking, but not really my cup of tea unless I get it to display with Wall-E (and even then Wall-E probably has far more play features than BB here can muster). That scout walker is very strange. Need to see a photo of its legs extended before I make a final judgment. That Resistance Transport pod is okay, I will probably get it because it will be affordable at least. I don't mind the CCBS figures, but not attracted to any one in particular either. In a way looking at the winter waves for the three new Star Wars films, I think Rogue One had the best. Each model was cool looking, played well, great display value, good mix of figures, etc. I feel The Force Awakens is in second place to me with some solid sets among a few mediocre ones. The Last Jedi stuff just seems to be an even more mixed bag. A lot of weirdness going on. Things that feel like rehashes yet are so different from the original they don't feel familiar... The "Where is Luke?" question again... I have gut feeling though not to worry about it until we see the 2018 Winter Wave for TLJ. It seems Lego has used the time in-between the release of TFA up to now to release sets fixing the most obvious omissions of their initial set wave. I hope TLJ is getting a similar treatment, once we know more about the film we will get sets to complete what we lacked. If I were to pick any favorites though, that bomber is probably #1. -
LEGO Star Wars 2017 Pictures and Rumors
xboxtravis7992 replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I saw a photo of the minifigure advertisement sheet (the one at the end of the instruction sheet) for the Last Jedi Sets today on a movie news site. No sign of Finn or Luke in the sheet, although part of it is cut off at the top. Looks like the Resistance Bomber set will have four pilots, one of which is Poe in a jumpsuit without the flight gear vest on it, and another one in a classic Rebel Alliance style helmet in what looks like an olive green plastic. The "evil" BB style droid looks like he might have a new head mold similar in shape to the R5 head dome. Hux has a hair piece now instead of a hat, there is some sort of new AT-AT driver for the FO, and Rey's hair piece doesn't look like Qui-Gon's hair, could be a new mold. There is a FO tech with an open helmet mold that also looks cool to me. Sorry if this is all old news to you guys by now, but it was new to me! EDIT: Just went back a few pages and saw you guys already discussed this. Well I guess I can throw my opinion out, some solid figures but nothing to spectacular. The lack of Chewie, Leia, etc. is disappointing. The lack of Luke is VERY strange. I like that new BB droid and am glad he is showing up in two sets though! -
Sorry to necropost this thread, but that SW10 prototype is giving me a laugh (and a sincere wish it had also been actually produced just for that UNION PACIFIC print to be in Lego...). The SW10's were built not far from where I live too, and I have seen a few of them around; so it definitely is a strange sight to see it in Lego. The shocking thing is, I don't think this engine has ever been made in any modeling railroad scale in plastic... so Lego would have actually been the first had they released this!

What's your recent LEGO Star Wars Purchase?
xboxtravis7992 replied to KimT's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Poe's X-Wing at Wal-Mart. Was slightly discounted by being only $65, but seeing the set is nearly 2 years old now I wish the discount was a bit bigger. The weird thing is now that I got it I am tempted to save up for the Resistance X-Wing set just so I can have a sister ship to form a squadron, although I am telling myself that buying nearly the same model just because it is in a different color is a bit silly -
Saw Spider-Man last Saturday. It was a blast! Had my parents and I laughing most of the film through. Keeping it a grounded story about a teenager trying to balance his school life with that of an aspiring super hero was a great decision. Hearing that it has had a big opening has me hoping Sony will keep working with Disney for years to come to keep Peter Parker in the MCU for many years to come! Anyways some spoiler thoughts:

I would buy that in a hearbeat and circle it around the Castle... Still unlikely, but one can dream right?

Looks great! Just remember though its the fastest confirmed steam engine... If oral legend has any basis of truth to it a PRR T1 could outrace an A4 any day without breaking much of a sweat. I guess we won't know for sure until another generation from now once the T1 rebuild project is finished and the legends can be put to test.

[WIP][MOC] All Galactic Empire Tie Variants
xboxtravis7992 replied to Darth Hammy's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I like the builds for the M1, the Defender, and the Sentinel. The wings mountings look a little to long on the Interceptor and the Bombers/Shuttles to me, like they should be a few studs closer in. Still, I love that someone actually built the Shuttle variant, since that is such an obscure version of the Tie! -
The only contradiction to Legends I could find in Thrawn was the lack of references to Outbound Flight in any direct way... Outbound Flight is actually the only Legends Thrawn story I have read, so I was hoping for Zahn to hint that the project happened in Canon too. Especially seeing the First Order and Snoke's roots to the Unknown Regions (with Bloodline even referencing a group of warriors allied with the FO who traveled beyond the galaxy), it seems Outbound Flight could easily be modified to fit the new Canon, replacing any references to the Vong in the Legends story to hints of Snoke and the "unknown evils" of wild space on the fringe of the Galaxy...

Oh I love these cruisers! (Arquitens class or something like that?) Great work here.

While you guys were stuck watching the animated shorts this week I was at camp reading Star Wars: Bloodline (I read Star Wars: Thrawn over the weekend before I left too). Both are excellent books, Bloodline is the best characterization of Leia I have seen. Thrawn is a great addition to the Canon story which simultaneously would have been a great Legends book (is it possibly the canon in both Canon and Legends? Timothy Zahn is a genius if so!)

In regards to running directions and lights. Most railroads run short hood forward, that is standard except in a few famous cases (Southern and the Norfolk & Western being famous "long hood forward" lines). However most diesels do run fine long hood forward, and in rare cases some "short hood" lines will run them long hood due to the lack of a wye or turntable on route to change the direction (I once saw a Union Pacific SD40N running long hood forward up the mainline and then the branchline it was serving for this very reason). Lights turn on in the direction of travel. Although lights are required, there are a few regional railroads, industrial jobs, or branchlines, were engineers run the train without the lights on at all, or with a few bulbs burned out. Ditch lights are common on most modern locomotives too, and will blink depending on the situation. Some other lines used other lights such as Mars Lights or Gyralights instead of ditch lights, but that would be hard to properly recreate in Lego. Tail ends of trains usually have at least one red light, either on the FRED, trailing caboose, or trailing locomotive. Lights are only on when the engine is on, and are dimmed when the engine is not in motion.

This seems to come up every now and then, and most reliable sources seem to indicate the answer is no. The molds for the original Monorail have been retired, it would require Lego to design an entirely new system. Considering the sluggishly slow amount of train sets we get now, why would Lego dare risk adding a second rail based system right now? Its probably the same reason Lego narrow gauge track hasn't expanded beyond just an incline and a curve, Lego sees no chance for profit in such a venture. If you want Monorail back, either go buy custom 3D printed or molded parts from 3rd party vendors, or experiment with developing a brick based rail system of your own. There was somebody who used to have a project on Lego Ideas that used a brick based system, which I think is a good place to start for anyone wishing to have a Monorail, especially since it is more realistic than Lego's original version.

I know this isn't a theme park discussion, but anyone else a little shocked by Disney's announcement of more upcoming changes to the original Pirates of the Caribbean ride in the theme parks? Yes the wench auctioneer scene was never the most politically correct part of the ride; but it was also one of the most iconic ("We wants the red head!")... But to reset the scene completely and change it seems to be one of the dumbest decisions in theme parks I have seen Disney make recently. Its even stranger because the films made no attempts to be politically correct, with far more innuendo laced jokes in them than the original ride had when it opened! Seems a bit of a double standard to me for Disney to have a very PG-13 film series, while simultaneously changing the ride so much it is almost entering G rated territory... There is a part of me hoping Disney backtracks on this idea, or comes back 10 years after the change and restores it to its original set. If this change was only happening at the Paris or even the Florida versions I would not mind to much, but to think the Disneyland version is getting it too is frustrating. This is the last ride Walt Disney worked on personally before his death; with so many changes to it already at what point is it no longer the ride Walt had envisioned?

Its sad that Kraven is going to be part of the Sony Universe. While his darker stories seem to fit the Sony plan well, he recently has been used to great effect as a comedic character amongst the non-Spidey side of the comics. So Kraven showing up on New Warriors or trying to hunt down Howard the Duck in Guardians for laughs is a no-go.

It does make me wish they brought back the E-Wing concept to sprinkle some variety into the ST fighters. Just like the F-22's relatively small production run which failed to fully replace the F-15/F-16 models, I can see the E-Wing doing the same. However with that said, the plethora of X-Wing's and Tie's still makes a ton of sense for the ST.

@ToaDraco I read your comments about ship design in the Lego Star Wars 2017 Rumors thread, and the apparent lack of innovation between ROTJ and TFA, compared to the massive technology shift between ROTS and ANH. I decided to pen my thoughts to that here instead of derail the other thread. I think Star Wars technology logically has followed and mirrored real history. In WWII aviation went from prop propellors to jet airplanes and V1 rockets. In comparison, modern era changes have been less dramatic. We are still flying F-16's almost 40 years after that airframe was introduced, while it's replacement the F-35 is rolling out slowly yet to fully replace the F-16. How does this apply to Star Wars? From Attack of the Clones to Return of the Jedi; the Galaxy is in a constant state of war. A growing Empire had to replenish it's fighting force, and constantly sought out new designs. Rebels had to scour for odd ball fighters to use, and got a wide variety of strange fighters for their forces. Conflict drove innovation. In comparison in the new Canon, the 30+ years between ROTJ to TFA is rather peaceful. The T-70 X-Wing was introduced at the end of the Galactic Civil War, with it's successor vehicles relying on the same airframe (I think a T-80 is shown in the Poor Dameron comic and it looks identical to the T-70). Meanwhile the First Order was building up their army, yet rather than invent new designs they updated the proven TIE airframe (much like how Russia still fly's Soyuz capsules, or how the F-15 was modified by the US to become F-15E ground attack units). Why waste resources on a new fighter airframe when resources are thin and being taken by the massive Starkiller project? I think then seeing classic Star Wars ships in the Sequel Trilogy makes sense considering the inter-war peace during that era. With the galaxy in chaos again though I hope by episode IX or the following Trilogy (Sequel of Sequel Trilogy?) we get to see new designs.
