illusion make by LDD2Povray
Superkalle replied to Nachapon Bricks's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Wow, that illusions is really convincing. At first, I thought you were playing a silly prank with us Nachapon, but the two tiles are really the same shade. Amazing. -
LDD 4.3.5 bugs
Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
F1 is the general short-cut for Help in all Windows programs, i.e. the problem should then be in more programs then LDD? Or About a solution: Isn't there some software that can intercept/trap keyboard strokes and the just nullify when you hit F1? -
Just got info that for the parts below, TLG does not have digital models. This means that they have to be manually created, which in turn means they end up lower on the prio-list. 2348 Glass for Hinge Car Roof 4 x 4 Sunroof with Ridges 2712 Technic, Plate Rotor 3 Blade with Toothed Ends and 3 Studs (Propeller) 2719 Technic, Plate 1 x 10 with Toothed Ends 2866 Control Switch (for the rail switches / points) 2880 Hinge Bar 2.5L with 2 and 3 Fingers on Ends (Pantograph Shoe Holder) 3315 hinge plate (digger bucket holder) 3480 Propeller 2 Blade Helicopter Tail 3481 Modified 2 x 2 with Helicopter Tail Rotor Holder 3597 hinge plate (digger bucket holder) 4084 Tire Offset Tread Medium 4214 Hinge Vehicle Roof Holder 1 x 4 x 2 4261 Technic, Steering Arm 4318 Boat mast 4504 Hinge Plate 1 x 6 with 2 and 3 Fingers On Ends 4507 the hinge hinge plate 1 x 6 with 2 and 3 fingers on its sides 4626 bucket

Help to make 4000001 in LDD please
Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Don't get me wrong, but did you read the topic? DLuders allready volontered, but because the instructions are non-official we skipped it. So unless you have access to the official instructions, you don't need to do on my behalf. -

OK guys, thanks for the info. That means that you don't have to go ahead DLuders - I wanted the build according to the official instructions. But thanks for your offer -

Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Thanks David! The LDD file is so much more compact. And we can share it in the Official Sets topic No hurry Yeah, exactly, to have a LDD version of the instructions Those instructions I belive are based 100% on the official ones. -
Help to make 4000001 in LDD please
Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
@Calabar - the model made by bbqqq is not done using any official instructions and has a lot of errors. In fact, just comparing at the pictures/screenshots you can see a lot of parts that are incorrect. The LDD print-out I linked to is the correct model and was made from official instructions, at least so I was told. -
I hate to say it, but at the moment LDD Manager is your best bet for this. I say "hate", because I really don't like promoting my own tool (even though it's freeware). You need to import the LXF into LDD Manager, and then you can see if the colors you used are available. You also get tips if a certain brick is not available in a color, but a very similar one is. Also, BrickLink is generally a better source then the brickset database for any MOC:er, since it contains all bricks (also obsolete), and those that were never in an official set. Besides, you also get a price.

Create a custom brick palette for use in LDD Starting with version 4.3.5, LDD supports custom palettes. By placing one or more LXF-files in the CustomPalettes folder (more info below), you will get your own personalized brick palette in the LDD interface. You can use the LDD Managers LXF generator to create the needed LXF-files from a list of bricks, or you can just use any LXF-file and use that. Figure 1 - A custom palette in LDD (left) and the resulting palette (right). Step 1 – Create the CustomPalettes folder First you need to create a new folder named "UserPalettes" in the following location: On Windows: %APPDATA%\LEGO Company\LEGO Digital Designer\ On MAC: ~/Library/Application Support/LEGO Company/LEGO Digital Designer/ So, for example, on my Windows Seven installation: C:\Users\John\AppData\Roaming\LEGO Company\LEGO Digital Designer\UserPalettes\ Step 2 - Create a brick list The next step is to create a list of the bricks you want to have in your custom palette along with brick quantities. The source for this list can be for example a) BrickLink catalog list of partID's b) A list you made yourself in Excel c) An exported list from some inventory management system d) A BrickLink set inventory NOTE: If you use an existent LXF-file, then skip to Step 4. Step 3 - Paste data into LDD Manager and create LXF-file Enter or paste the part list into LDD Managers “Generate LXF” window and click “Go - Generate LXF-file” Figure 2 - Example list of bricks with specified quantities Step 4 – Review and place file into CustomPalettes Once the LXF file has been created, it will open in LDD. Important: Now do a File>Save As in LDD to save the LXF with a name you want for your Custom Palette into the UserPalettes folder. Exit LDD and restart. Now you should have your new palette accessible. You must use LDD Mode (not Extended) to see the palette Note that you can have as many LXFML-files as you want in the UserPalettes folder. Each one will be a unique palette. Also note that if you edit the file name of the LXF-file in Explorer, it will not change the Palette name. To change the palette name, open the LXF in LDD and use SaveAs. Figure 3 - A generated LXFML file opened in LDD. If the quantity is more then one, bricks are stacked on top of each other.

Welcome to EB! I'll move this over to the Town forum, where I think you can better feedback. The LDD forum is the place to talk about more technical LDD and Ldraw issues etc.
-
Thanks for pointing those lists out Calabar The most important thing to remember is also that we need to aim that the "Priority 1" category only contain about maximum 30 items (so it's a bit too much already). Otherwise it is unrealistic that they will be added in a near future in LDD. So if one brick is upped to Prio 1, an other need to go down the list. The less the Prio1 list is, the more "sharp" our wishes are. And of course there is the balance between adding new bricks, adding flex, adding decorations etc.
-
Here is the current "Fans Most Wanted list", prioritized as 1, 2 or 3 after my best understanding of what we want as a group. NOTE: All bricks with Prio 1, 2 or 3 are on the same level, i.e. there is NO order among all bricks in the same Prio-group (they are sorted by DesignID). Download the excel-file. If you strongly feel some brick should be moved up or down the list, then add your prio value to the MyPrio column and make the file available here. Or just make a simple post with bricks you want moved (max 10 bricks to keep it simple). If you want to add a brick then, just do so. NOTE: max 10 bricks. FansMostWantedJanuary2013.zip

[Software] LDD2PovRay
Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Today I voted for Hrontos in the Technic challenge. Support him you too @Hrontos: I can't help to notice how many of the entries are based on LDD and rendered in LDD2PovRay. Maybe you shouldn't have released LDD2PovRay at all, and kept it all to yourself. Just to increase the chance of winning the contest -
In the Digital Designer forum we have two topics where you can post Official LEGO-sets - LDD and Ldraw. Now, our Ldraw regulator legolijntje feels the Ldraw topic needs some fuel-injection So, if you feel like making some digital LEGO-models and get the chance so win a price, head on over here

Good things come to those who wait. The next generation of MINDSTORMS (EV3) was unveiled today. Read the press-relase here and read the preview at TechnicBricks Then discuss it here

First one = illegal design from TLG (as far as I could tell) Second one = good find. Yes, bug semi-bug...works in real LEGO because small flex in parts. Should be supported in LDD in an ideal world Uncertain...is this illegal design? EDIT: This is a tricky one. It seems the flanges of pin are in constant compression, but on the other hand, maybe the flanges of the flicker missile pin are allowed to be compressed more (smaller flanges). Can someone verify that I'm thinking right here?

LDD 4.3.5 bugs
Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Absolutely no problem, I didn't mean it like that I can also mention that many bugs have been reported in threads pertaining to older version of LDD. And to add to that, sometimes when people report bugs, they just post a screenshot without writing the part numbers in the post. I can't remember reporting it. Thanks. -
Just like for so many of us BTW, I'm moving this topic over to the Train Tech sub-forum here at EB. You now posted in the LDD forum, which is more a place to discuss LDD and Ldraw techniques, bugs, questions best-practices etc. If you bump into problem with LDD or have a question related to other digital tools, you're more then welcome to post here again. And like already said: Welcome to Eurobricks!

LDD 5, what features do YOU want?

Two good points. Another two good points. -

That bug has actually been reported earlier, but a good find anyway. -
LDD 5, what features do YOU want?
Superkalle replied to BasOne's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
That was an interesting catch. Have never thought about that before. Seems to be something the LDD Team overlooked when they redid the feature. -
LDD 4.3.5 bugs
Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I fixed that now. But please be aware you only have 100kb of storage, so it's only good for quickly sharing files. If you want to store/show larger files such as images etc, I suggest you get an account at Brickshelf.com, which can store both LXF-files and image files. That is a good catch, and a brick bug in my book. I'll report it (as I do all bugs) and we can fingers crossed it gets fixed. The technique used in the Armada Flagship I'm not sure will get fixed, since it's an old brick. -
Well, I was as surprised as you that it wasn't - at least not that I have recorded Which reminds me....maybe I should post the list I have collected, so you guys can all see what you wished for. Give me a couple of days
