New LDD Update! 3/26/13
Superkalle replied to CM4Sci's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
@Darking - I'm pretty sure that the bugfix patch issued this week is not included in the downloadable exe. LDD should self-patch - that's the only way to get the bug fixes. So if your LDD is not patching, then there is something wrong in your firewall or similar. Try this to make a clean install of LDD (Win7): 1) Exit LDD 2) Go to C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Roaming\LEGO Company\ 3) Delete the entire LEGO Digital Designer folder 4) Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\LEGO Company 5) Delete the entire LEGO Digital Designer folder 6) Re-install LDD If it still doesn't work and you need help, you need to give more info: computer setup, network connection etc etc. -
I really like what you are doing nachapon. You are pushing the boundaries for what can be done with LDD (and rendering). I was thinking if it could be an idea with some kind of rendering contest (sorry for hijacking your topic here)? The ultimate goal: to make are render so realistic it would be impossible to distinguish from a real photo. Is it at all possible? I'm thinking it needs to have details down to the finest dust specles and all. Can it be done on PC. Or do you need a high performance computer?

New LDD Update! 3/26/13
Superkalle replied to CM4Sci's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Got this file to pass on today from Martin at the LDD Team. A lot of bug fixes. Much seems to be stuff we found here in the forum About the ring "bug", you can only attach it to one of the two sides now. About not getting the update. From previous updates I know there might be some delay to propagate the change to various servers around the world, so give it a few hours or so. 1007to1033.lxf -
LDD 4.3.6 bugs
Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
The pink things are not "worthless". When needed, I place in them in the LXF, so the are included in picking lists and when I order from BrickLink. So better to have them in LDD than not. As for the orange ones: the two new ball cup elements to do not accept x-axles even in physical bricks! And the 59443 connecter has allready been reported a couple of times, for example in the post just two steps above yours! The purple thing do exist in real life. It's just that in LDD they are separated to allow building without the need for flex. It has always been like this. -

Minifigure Head Decoration Palette
Superkalle replied to CM4Sci's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I don't want this discussion here for three reasons: 1) It's illegal and against the EULA. 2) We got a unique and good relationship here in the forum with the LDD Team which gives us info about fixed bugs, gives us a "direct" line to wish for new bricks etc. I don't want to risk that relationship with discussions in shady areas. 3) Any custom work or fiddling around with brick definitions will only benefit that one users. When you open a file like that in another LDD installation, it will break. -
Minifig torso with all decorations!

The list of the decorations we got from the LDD Team along with an OK to publish it here, so it was not extracted by reverse engineering the DB.lif or anything like that. -

Here is a list of all new decorationID's in the latest release. Unfortunately I don't know the mapping of these to the correct brick. I'm not sure how the work goes, but I think Aanchir is working on mapping this. 70000, 71044, 71046, 73156, 73157, 73158, 73159, 73244, 73621, 88133, 88156, 88170, 88172, 88174, 88176, 88178, 88181, @PsyKater: Thanks for trying to help out and no offense, but I'd prefer that Calabar handles comments and corrections in this topic. @PsyKater and omergalaeve. I would appreciate very much if we could not use this topic to teach/learn about how to post images etc. Specially since this topic should only contain images related to the index. Thanks for your understanding.

LDD 4.3.6 bugs
Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I'd like to have a look at this. Can you share the LXF (or the parts of it where this error is)? -
I noticed the hands are a little bit "off-alignement" which seems to cause this. Might be that the file has been programatically generated and the position of the hands are a bit off. If you replace the hula dancers torso with a fresh one from the palette, it works. @bbqqq - really nice renderings. Looks fantastic

LDD 4.3.6 is out
Superkalle replied to Tontus's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
The ring is really tricky though as pointed out earlier. It "forces" two studs into each other from opposite sides, i.e. something you can't do IRL (you can see it if you make the ring transparent). And if the LDD Team ever change the connectivity behavior, all models using the "ring-method" will have bricks removed when opening them. But it's fun to play around with. -

LDD 4.3.6 bugs
Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Nope, I haven't forgot. But I guess i was confused, because when you mentioned Furno's helmet, I thought it was the old one. But now I realize you meant the new one one from 44000 (11280). So next time we can help each other buy being more clear exactly what part numbers we mean. Fair deal? -
LDD 4.3.6 bugs
Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
@Greol: Can you show what you mean that the visor is designed to fit Furnos' helmet? I found that it will work if you do like this: 1) Place first half 2) Place ball 3) Slide technic x-axle at end of half 4) Slide second half over the x-axle until it "connects" to ball But you can also do like this 1) Place first and second half (at the required 2 module distance) 2) place ball. So it seems you're supposed to build the launcher first (like IRL), and the stick the ball into place. But it's really odd that you can't put the ball in place first and then "snap" the second half in place (to get the correct distance between halfs automatically). Seems to be some connectivity logic. (but I agree this is a very odd way).
