Albion: the capital city of Avalonia
Rogue Angel replied to ZCerberus's topic in Guilds of Historica
I Agree! I really wish I could construct my first Albion build, but it will not be a small endeavor, and this embassy thing has been taking FOREVER. It's always frustrating how you can spend 4 hours working, and only complete one small portion of one building. I have so many ideas, and so little time. Gah! -
This is Stunning! Between you and Derfel, my collection looks insignificant Your Gatehouse is such a beautiful finished product, as usual. The outside borders and the river look professionally done, as with all your MOCs. The build is reminiscent of the king's Castle and Black Monarch's castle, but of epic proportions. Everything is done so well - it is all of equally high caliber, whether it be the walls, the windows, the figs involved, everything is just gorgeous. You always manage to pull of such great creations with only a few colors, which I feel is so hard to do. Amazing!

I've been spending all my time on my embassy for the past few weeks. It shall also be in Nocturnus, amidst swamp and foul wastelands. I considered Kaliphlin, but I like the swamp idea more. I completed my swamp portion today in fact, but I'm gonna have a while to wait on parts. -
The mushrooms and the trees are great, and I always like your trees. The waterfall is very nicely done as well. Every detail is well done. Great MOC! The mushrooms and the trees are great, and I always like your trees. The waterfall is very nicely done as well. Every detail is well done. Great MOC!

Very nice color scheme on this - I like the contrast of the medium blue and the tan. I also really like the sides of the roof quite a bit. The balcony really stands out. There are a lot of great techniques in this build.

That looks pretty Awesome! Can't wait to see the finished product! -
It is actually a technic piece, I believe. I was looking through my pieces trying to spark ideas, and I ran across this piece. I thought it looked pretty great for the ballista. Thanks for the comments!

The Elves of the Rustling Leaves Clan live within the peaceful Enchanted Forest of Avalonia. Though all is quiet now, they remember the tumultuous times of the past, and know that this peace cannot last forever. They are ever vigilant, always preparing, so as not to be caught unaware. The Elven Ballista has long been used in sieges against the Drow, in their underground cavern-fortresses. They have also been used against former foes, who are now allies. More than once, the ballista have been known to turn the tide of battle for the elves.

I personally hadn't even considered any plots or such for my Embassy to be. I was just going to say Nocturnus Embassy, or maybe specify the city. I would agree that the guild could maybe pick one embassy from each other guild, or faction. There could be, say, a Mitgardian Embassy AND a Dwarven Embassy. I wouldn't be concerned with specific plots for your Embassy. I could see Embassies being in cities other than the Capitol, for example New York City or Los Angeles vs. Washington D.C. I think that intra-guild builds can be more plot specific, while inter-guild would be at the whim of the guild. My two cents.

It would be either there, or southeast of Circadia - tower 5 on the Avalonia map, at the point just southeast of the tower symbol. The exact location has not been determined yet.

There is a port on the eastern edge if the Enchanted Forest (with my Guild Master's permission) that would welcome embassies within Avalonia. The colors would be black, light grey, dark green and sand green. White and brown/reddish brown buildings are not uncommon. Any embassies would likely be walled or heavily fortified in case relations deteriorated.

BEAUTIFUL! As usual. This is a gorgeous MOC. I love the houses, the chimneys, the greener... Everything!

I have ideas for an Embassy in Kaliphin (hope I spelled that right - using mobile phone this weekend from in-laws) and Mitgardia, but hadn't really thought about Nocturnus yet... So many options. I can't wait to get home so I can actually load up pics of Derfel's village. On my trip, I kept thinking of Embassy ideas but I can't see how any of them will work with out sample building. Alas. I hope everyone has a great Holiday(s)! -

Grodvek was born in Mitgardia, but just after his first hunt, his village was razed by a rival warlord. Grodvek returned to find his family dead, his village a smoldering ruin. He knew he might not survive the harsh Mitgardia winter alone. He gathered up what little he could find, and decided to move South, to warmer, quieter hills. Grodvek travelled for 2 years, wintering with kindly Mitgardian farmers, and even spending a month with a slumbering bear! Eventually Grodvek's wandering led him to Avalonia, where he started working as a field hand for a local Burgher - Lorvan Folsum. After a few years of saving, Grodvek was able to purchase a small plot of land to call his own. Shortly after, he met Radka - a fellow Mitgardian immigrant who was working in the Burgher's kitchens. Grodvek tilled his small plot, growing fruits and vegetables in the fertile soil, and eventually married Radka. Their son Udvek, has seen 10 summers, and will soon be joining his father in the fields. Grodvek's plot of land lies just North of Harvest Cross, a few miles in from the coastal waters harboring the Mystic Isles. He built his house in the traditional style of his Mitgardian ancestors - log walls and sod roof for warm winters and stifling summers. Grodvek returns home from a long day working in Burgher Folsum's fields. His son Udvek is playing with his mongrel, Kuvar. Grodvek carries his sickle and drinking horn, his daily tools for work in the fields. The Burgher made him dye his cap green, because the Burgher painted his barn green, and must like the color. Radka is checking on Udvek, and she thought she had heard Grodvek's whistling over the crackling of the hearth. The stew is almost prepared for dinner - perfect timing. Grodvek is thankful he was able to salvage seeds from his Mitgardian homeland. They have been able to sell their exotic crops (pumpkins and cabbage) at a good price. His family has not want for food these last winters. The woodpile will need some work before winter sets in, although Grodvek always stores like he's still in Mitgardia - the woodpile hasn't been bare since before Udvek was born. Grodvek considers himself rich with food, family and fire. The gods were with him when he moved to Avalonia. Thanks for catching that for me MikeyB. I was in the midst of replying, when you beat me to the punch. "Like a good neighbor, MikeyB is there" Matn, I really like your stronghold. I would love to have a neighbor with such nice builds. -
It is a beautiful bakery. I can almost smell the croissants hanging off your walls I like the balcony, and this building is exactly what I would expect to find in our fair capitol. Beautiful!

A whole day with no other comments on our thread? What's up Avalonia? If you're like me, you've been surfing Watch Towers all day. After doing just that myself, I've gotta say we're rocking the Watch Tower challenge, both in numbers and quality. There are definitely some gems from the other guilds, but we appear to have gotten the lion's share of the members and MOCers. GLORY FOR AVALONIA! -
Avalonia River Run Watchtower of Mesodraconem
Rogue Angel replied to ZCerberus's topic in Guilds of Historica
This watch tower is a work of art. I Love all the little details, and the walls are great. This was one of the only tower I saw before I finished mine, and Defel was right, it inspired me to really up my MOCing game! This is definitely in the running for my favorite watch tower.
