  1. If only I had your talent... This is amazing! Well done Svelte! Not only it is beautiful but it really captures the whole oriental-arabic feeling too. You've used some elements that definitely make the difference like the colour scheme, the main arches, the recessed ones and the mosaic. This is clearly one of your most beautiful MOCs, hands down! Interesting new title btw.
  2. I've seen this DACTA set in Bricklink. It's to drool for! You're one lucky guy! EDIT: Ooops! You've edited your post. Still, a very good effort of representing the 3177.
  3. Amazing creation Matija! The platform looks great and the underground train looks just beautiful! The biggest success IMO is the lighting you've used. It really looks like a real underground station like that!
  4. Nice and cute! The classic town vibes are all over the place. Btw, the minifig seems to be in excellent condition.
  5. One more! Thanks CopMike! I really like this one and I really want to get it. It looks great to me. Although that it looks simple it is beautiful at the same time. Not to mention the great new minifig head! A great thanks for the SW pic you've provided for comparison for us non-SW fans.
  6. It's just one of those moments that bricks come to life. Perfection! The picture speaks for itself! Well done Matija!
  7. Who isn't?
  8. Welcome to Eurobricks Mr McGow! One more AFOL back in the game. Your story was pretty interesting. Enjoy your stay! For some reason that made me smile.
  9. And we now finally have our own Marshmallow Man to walk in our LEGO city streets destroying everything! Nice find Siegfried. They look pretty detailed.
  10. Wow! And what a great first post that is! First of all, welcome to Eurobricks Legolas73! Amazing creation you've built there! The shape is very close to a real life McDonalds and you've got the colours right on spot. The interior is absolutely beautiful! The counter section is one of the best I've seen, with lots of colours and the stickers turned out great! Seeing the minifigs' faces in the kitchen area made me realise that it's a tough work. Great MOC and welcome for once more!
  11. You can also check THIS very nice one from alex54's post office. (Scroll down the page to see it.)
  12. Where is it...where is it.... Ahhhh, here it is. When it was first released here in Greece --and in some other european countries-- it was named "Black Shark". I can still remember it from back then because I bought it in 1991-92. To be honest, I became familiar with the term "Black Seas Barracuda" only after leaving dark ages and re-entering the LEGO world as an AFOL. I never knew that the name "BSB" actually existed.
  13. Great work Sylann! There are some lovely details in your MOC and they belnd together in a very beautiful way. What I really like is that you've placed a great number of minifigs in the park! It makes it look full of life and action. Thanks for sharing!
  14. Very nice work MdrnMrvls. The shape of the tractor looks very interesting and the size is good for smaller agricultural activities. The colours you've used are great and the trailer looks pretty functionable. One more good thing. Backwards compatibility. (a.k.a classic town compatible) Waiting for the barn!
  15. Although that this question is not too easy to be answered since you're dealing with different sets when it comes to "action", I'll second this: Have no hesitation buying the 7744 Police Headquarters. Lots of parts, a lot of building process involved, a great number of minifigs, two cars, one motorcycle, lots of play features and it looks just beautiful. Plus, the size is perfect for both classic town (if you are into that) and city displays. Get it for sure! You won't regret it.
  16. The introduction of the Farm subtheme in the City theme range was one of the best moves TLG had done. It brought a refreshing air in the picture, having new sets that were different from the usual City sets at that time. Since variety is --in my humble opinion-- probably the key element to success for the City-Town theme, Farm sets were happily welcomed from many town fans. One more great thing that makes the Farm subtheme stand out is the overall colour scheme. It is probably the most colourful theme, something that TLG had partially abandonded in the last years. As a kid, I was always fascinated by the colours that you could find in a town display and it was one of the reasons that made me a town fan. The recent years' colour palette in the City theme was a bit "heavy" for me with all these dark and -ish colours and having pure green, red and other "lighter" colours was also a nice thing for the eyes. Last but not least, animals! Farm is all about animals and having new animal moulds is just brilliant. How about an ostrich farm for example? I would really love to see the Farm subtheme expanding and having new sets in the years to come. There are some great ideas already posted in here and I really hope that we will see some of them being brought to life plastic in the near future. There is still potential. Btw, all the Farm sets look just beautiful together!
  17. Wow! Thanks for this excellent review Clonie! You've taken some great pictures that really help to understand how the building looks like. The bird's-eye view is 1000 words. I must say, I'm impressed by the set. A very good number of minifigs, beautiful accesories, a great colour scheme, a camel , what else do you want? The great thing about this set is that it looks "complete". The building is closed and gives the feeling of an actual palace, waiting to be conquered. I can already see the potential when it comes to expanding it. Thanks again for the excellent review!
  18. Excellent review Ricecracker with many great photos! Great set too! I think that this is going to be my first movie licensed set. There are so many beautiful elements in it but the main reason for me is the ostriches. After all, a farm with ostriches is always in demand. Btw, when I first saw Shadow's review announcement in the "last post" box on the main board, I thought it said "Fresh Prince of Persia..." instead of "First Prince of Persia...". Will Smith for the sequel? Thanks again for the review!
  19. Very interesting. Life has found a way I guess. A very nice quote for a sci-fi movie trailer.
  20. Thanks for sharing this Rick. Very interesting information. This number seems quite reasonable to me. As Front correctly wrote, it's an estimation and in no way TLG can provide definite numbers I think. All the sets that I've bought after exiting dark ages were for me but I was always telling the toy shops owners that were for my nephew. Although that this data may be considered as misleading if taken into consideration for the above figures, when it comes to AFOL communities (such as Eurobricks for example) the truth is revealed and perhaps TLG draws feedback from there. Let's not forget the questionnaires (I forget the official name for those ) TLG uses in order to gain more accurate feedback. From my 1 1/2 year involvement in the LEGO hobby (post dark ages), I see that TLG has established a very nice "communication" with AFOLs and this is perhaps from where the estimation is derived.
  21. Interesting. Your topic takes me back to a discussion that was held in here about passenger trains vs cargo trains. I think that what makes crane cars so unique is playability in general. A crane car has many functions and can easily blend with other train or town sets having a wonderful scene. Having that in mind, creativity can do miracles here especially when building smaller or bigger MOCs to accompany the crane car. One more thing is that a crane car usually comes with extra elements such as cargo. One last thing is the looks of a crane car. It's not boring. Most of the times crane cars are "oddly" shaped (in a good way) compared to simpler train cars and that makes them look different and more interesting.
  22. That's the great thing about GE. Not only you 're able to create a tall building without having to buy many copies of them but stacking the floors makes it look great too. And that my friend is called a jackpot.
  23. Svelte: The man who treats Modular houses like impulse sets. Great work for once more! I totally agree about the point you've made about floors stacking. GE in the best looking when creating a giant. I really love all the combinations you've made here and all of them look great. I know that the shape is not the same but to be honest, the tall version reminds me of the Flatiron Building. I still don't know why. Keep the expansion going! (I don't know if your wallet can keep up though.)
  24. Now, THAT'S a Kinder egg.
