5 hours is an amazing time for something like this. The building's contrast and the landscaping add a lot of character to the scene. Good work!
-
I love the variety of missiles on the bottom and am glad you took out the yellow parts. Great work!
-
I love all of the Power Miners spoofs, and you definitely went the extra mile with this one! The shack on the right is very clever. Maybe they could get a pool down there, and the power miners could serve them some margaritas! I agree with Bob the Construction Man, it's about time the rock monsters got some respect around here!

Power Miners: New Sets for 2009
TheBrickDaddy replied to cartoondude's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I also think this will be a one-year theme... so sad to see it jump up in quality at the end, only to be shut down! With all of the Disney/ Pixar licenses and the Ben 10 stuff coming out, they will probably be canceling Power Miners. The big wheel is definitely Exo-Force excess waste, but it sure does fit in with the Power-Miner look. I'm glad I didn't buy the under-pieced Titanium Command rig; the exclusives are by far looking better than the normal line! And could we PLEASE get some more of the little rock monsters besides Glaciator (the blue one)? I need an orange one! -
Well, they might have had the idea for these three new ones, but don't you think it odd that 'Elflands' came up in a Lego magazine in 2008 and we don't get any this year? I'm sure that they waited on the elves, but you are right in saying that the 2009 sets have been in development for a while (Gotta love that golden knight! ) and that they postponed the elves a long time ago. And sorry about the instructions number!!! I didn't catch 'instructions' number... my bad!
-
That would be 7079... you could just go to Shop at Home or Brickset to see that number next time. (I have to fully write out Shop at Home because the ampersand sign on my keyboard doesn't work! ) I am very excited for these battle packs, it really does complete the Castle theme. While for weapons we get three double-sided axes, a pickaxe, and... a club... (Marion Ravenwood needs to find something new to defend herself now!) we still get more of the non-winged helmets and some dwarf shields. Hooray for the barrel! At least it's not an animal this time... And I'm sure we'll be seeing some of these elves in the future. What happened is probably that they were going to release the elves this year, but weren't fully ready in some way, and came up with these three sets to tide us over.

REVIEW: 8968 Agents River Heist
TheBrickDaddy replied to TheBrickDaddy's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Looking back, I would have definitely given this set a slightly lower rating- more of a 85-90%. This is probably the most debated of the new Agents sets, you either think it's bad or good. If you like orange pieces, this is a great set (then again, so are all of Dr. Inferno's contraptions ); the minifigs are the highlight of course ; but we can all say that it's better than Gold Tooth's Getaway or 4-Wheeling Pursuit. Thank you for all your comments, and I will try to get my review right on the first try next time. The Brick Daddy -
I really do not care what TLC thinks will sell the best or have the best target audience, they could have thought of a thousand things better than this! I have seen the show- unfortunately my younger brother is obsessed with it- and cannot think of how TLC even BEGAN to devise this vile plan! The only things I could remotely think of on the bright side are obviously the new alien parts, possible to add on to SP III, and probably some pretty cool vehicles. I am pretty sure, though, that TLC won't make the same mistake as Galidor when they talk about 'a new twist on the lego system.' I am with everyone else... *insert toilet flushing sound*

Looks like Lego has stepped it up a notch from the last battle packs! I'll pick up at least one for the empty Troll's Mountain Fortress. Thanks for the news! I am really hoping for dwarves, though, I need it even more! And I believe that the Elves are scheduled for next year, though.

Thanks everybody! The Brickshelf factor had just slipped my mind, I guess... Well, the review's done, 8968 River h=Heist in the Town forum. Thanks again!

REVIEW: 8968 Agents River Heist
TheBrickDaddy replied to TheBrickDaddy's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
You know what, let's just start this again, with better pics from Brickshelf: special thanks to Matn for helping me with the picture issue. Set Name- River Heist Theme- Agents (2.0) Year of Release- 2009 Pieces- 203 Minifigs- 3 Price- 19.99 USD (20.99 at TRU) Resources- Brickset Well, after the surprise mass release on Lego.com, I decided to go to my local TRU to see what they had; as I expected, everything was there except for Star Wars, Bionicle, and Indiana Jones. I picked up the two smallest Agents sets (I swear, only for the golden T-Rex! ) and the two small Space Police sets; I was turning hot and cold about using a coupon for the Troll's Mountain Fortress or Drawbridge Defense , but decided to wait . My little brother looked at this set and said, "His hair's FREAKIN' GREEN!" and that pretty much decided it. This set seemed barren at first, but turned out to be anything but. Keep in mind that this is my first review, so go easy on me; let's get started! SCENARIO: Dollar Bill and his girlfriend- uh, sidekick- Dyna-Mite have stolen a safe full of money from the City bank! The comic depicts them sneaking in- unnoticed?- blowing the safe out of the wall- still no guards in sight- and hopping into their conveniently placed airboat.... A few missteps in logic, but OK then... The box (slightly blurry) with a clever scene in the background, a smoking bank (from whence the safe was stolen). Does anyone else notice that the green time bomb thingy in the water has a grey knob sticking out of its rear end?... That's not in the set... The back of the box, depicting the flick-fire missles, the figs, and the other Agents sets. The safe has fallen in the water, even though Agent Fuse is nowhere near it... The figs on the top of the box. The pieces, tossled around in four un-marked bags, and the hose piece. The small instruction manual (sorry, blurry again...) The small but noticable DSS (Dreaded Sticker Sheet) The minifigs, I must say, are fantastic in this set. You get Dollar Bill, who has Dooku/Palpatine's hair in green, and a diamond for an eye... ouch. Dyna-mite seems to be a recycled Claw-Dette, with her hair in a dark red (not normal red). Agent Fuse is nothing new, but the body armor is most impressive, nice touch. Dollar Bill has a golden gun, and Dyna-Mite has (go figure) the new dynamite piece (both not pictured). The double-printed backs, with Bill (let's just call him that) having a dollar sign and Dyna-Mite having the Dr. Inferno emblem. Fuse has no printed back, but his body armor does have a stud on the back. The small but effective safe, with a sticker control panel. The safe opens tho reveal three dollar bills smashed inside... almost not worth the effort, Bill. The small Agents jetski, with plenty of room and moveable flick-fire missles. This behemoth is powered by... Magic? I think that the new Troll Sorceress must have helped the Agents with a new power source... With Fuse on the jetski. The beginning of the airboat, with a shaft with 2 small wheels and a gear that spins near the back. This will power the propellor-motor. A shot of the underside, with the blue circle pieces placed in slightly random places to hold the bottom together. Once again you see the shaft with wheels. This is the mechanism that will link the bottom shaft to the propellor at the top. The Dr. Inferno emblems are stickers. And once attached, the two black gears barely tough (at the bottom), but work surprisingly well. The propellor, with stickers applied. And once attached, again barely touches the gear below, but works very efficiently. An antenna and the hose are added. The two time bombs, with a control panel sticker on top and a caution sticker wrapped all the way around. They fit nicely into these ingenious little holsters, and are easily poppable and fall over the side. A shot of the finished airboat; the steering station is excellent, with a printed control panel and a holster for the golden gun. It is still slightly empty... With the figs and safe added. And the complete set! The extra pieces... nothing amazing here. And here's a little extra fun... Dr. Inferno: Your next mission is to find me the Klopman Diamond to power my THIRD superlaser, which will appear in Agents 3.0! Dollar Bill: Uhh... It's in my eye. Hey Bill, have you seen my T-Rex?... Wait, is that my gun? I LOVE YOUR HAIR. Final Thoughts: I was pleasantly surprised with this set. I thought it would be sort of typical for an Agents set, but it is very unique! The figs are great, and the airboat has great... ummm... 'zoomability?' Don't know the word for non-spacecraft... Anyways, this looks like the best-valued Agents 2.0 set for the money, and would recommend it to any Lego fan. Design- 10/10 Perfect, flawless, efficient. Even though the airboat looks empty, it is well thought-out and roomy. Build- 9/10 unique, and the spinning propellor design is very interesting. Playability- 9/10 This would keep you occupied for a while! Minifigs- 10/10 Three in a twenty dollar set, and of course my little brother adores the green hair. Dooku's about to get a makeover. Price- 9/10 The piece/price ratio is OK but not terrific. Overall- 47/10, or a 94%. Lego passed this test! Thanks for reading everybody, and happy building! -

Actually, the pics aren't from Brickshelf; they're just from my computer desktop (I just saved them there). The problem is that I can only upload two pictures to the post before it runs out of space (the limit is 100K). Will I have to post two parts to the review (even though it's a small set?)

Hi, I've been trying to upload photos for a set review off of my computer and it's not working out too well... What are the steps? (Because I know I'm doing something wrong...) Anything helps!

Great review! Oh, and by the way, Mania3, the drawbridge mechanism was also used in the Indiana Jones Temple escape. I made a mistake and voted 'Below Average' before reading the review and looking at the figs. Now, I would have definitely voted Above Average, just so everyone thinks I'm not a sourpuss . I am also very excited for the Troll's Mountain Fortress figs, they look outstanding as well, although the hefty $100 price tag is a downside. But I think I might have to get this set now.

The Eurobricks Reviewers Academy
TheBrickDaddy replied to Bonaparte's topic in Forum Information and Help
Unfortunately, since svelte_corps has already reviewed all 3 of the Indiana jones sets I bought, I will have to hold off on joining the Academy. Mabye I'll re-enlist later in the summer when I have the time. TBD -
Does anyone know anything about the new Star Wars 10198? If it's like the Dropship and AT-OT, bad piece-minifig-price ratio, I'm skipping it this time. I hope its a Tantive IV version and not some lame-O Clone Wars version. The carousel looked amazing, but quite expensive...

The Eurobricks Reviewers Academy
TheBrickDaddy replied to Bonaparte's topic in Forum Information and Help
Hi, I just got three new summer Indiana Jones sets and figured hmmm... three... hmmm... Wait! That's how many sets you need for the Academy! I would like to join this fine establishment! TBD Note- I just noticed that the initials of my username are To Be Determined... that could get confusing. -
REVIEW: Indiana Jones 7197 - Venice Canal Chase

Yes, they do, don't worry! I'm glad too, because it would be weird if it came with all the bat gadgets as well (Nanananana BAT JONES!) -
REVIEW: Indiana Jones 7197 - Venice Canal Chase
TheBrickDaddy replied to Svelte's topic in LEGO Licensed
An amazing review! I just wish you hadn't beaten me to it! That's OK, I have another new Indiana Jones set, a review of which I will post shortly. I want to make a note to congratulate you on the superb effort of adding in photos from the movie; a lot went into this review! -
Thanks, sorry about that!

Hi everyone, I have just purchased three of the new summer Indiana Jones sets (courtesy of the Czech republic factory and the kind member Kanal-K1 ) and would like to post a review of at least one of them when they arrive. Is this the right place to post a review?
-
Great MOC! Even if you are very busy, there's always enough time to make a lost temple. I also have a quick question. As soon as it arrives, I was going to make a review of a few of the unreleased Indiana Jones sets (a kind courtesy of the Czech Republic factory and member Kanal-K1 ). Is this topic thread the right place to post it? Oops! Answered my own question! I clicked the 'Next Newest' button instead of 'Next Page...' Sorry! I do love the MOC though!

Thanks to both of you, that really helps. One of the reasons that I am trying to become active in Eurobricks more often is that it is such a nice and friendly community, more than any other fan website I am a member of. You have given me a fantastic first impression!

Hi, I'm The Brick Daddy, and have been a member of Eurobricks for a few months now but have never gotten the time to use it. I have obtained an unreleased set and want to make a review of it; how can I post a review?
