  1. Here's the first picture of my work in progress fire themed x-wing. Might want to make a few tweeks yet - not sure if I like the wings or whether to make it a bit more slender and got various other things I might try! That was the Mark I version..... nows here's the full story...... The early stages of the Lego City attack on the Star Wars Empire hadn't gone well. NASA and the RAF had combined to make some awesome assault aircraft which they thought would be a match for any of the Rebel or Imperial craft, however, very few of the first attack waves returned from their missions as the enemy had the edge in a very important area - droids. Astromech droids and nav computers were far more advanced than anything in the Lego City fleet and this was causing extreme problems for the fighter pilots who repeatedly found their weapons systems jammed and found themselves incredibly vulnerable to being locked on to by enemy torpedos and missiles. The tide of war seemed to have turned when Professor Brickinov made a startling discovery - Droids and sensor arrays could be confused quite easily - using foam! In his underground bunker Brinkinov tested these theories......... "fire the extinguisher at will Chief" he ordered........ The results were conclusive and production of a craft capable of carrying foam canons began at once, soon the Mark I X-Wing Fire Fighter was ready! However, the foam canon had a major drawback - it was innaccurate and short ranged - the first Fire Fighter squadron took to the skies but struggled to hit their targets before the enemy blew them to pieces. The Fire Fighter was slow and bulky and one by one the squadron was blasted into oblivion. Undetered by this failure Brickinov went back to the drawing board and eventually designed a craft that solved the original designs major problem - the Mark II was born! The ships speed was boosted dramatically with 4 jet engines, it was made more slender and graceful, it had its looks improved - Officer Bobskink and pilot Guss didn't like the paintjob!, and most importantly of all Brickinov came up with a way of getting the foam canon directed exactly where he wanted it..... he stuck a mad fireman on a ladder on the back of each ship! Game on! Soon the Mark II Fire Fighter was zooming accross the skies of the Empire, shooting foam into the midst of their artillery batteries and covering hapless R2s everywhere in thick foam, sending them whizzing out of control. Lego City soon commanded the skies!
  2. Sounds promising Legoscum but have you actually tried it personally? I don't won't blow my house up or get arrested as terror suspect! - those recipes look lethal!
  3. Thanks Smokebelch - I try to follow in your footsteps my master! I spent ages yesterday with a very particular shot in mind using my pet giant slow worm as a space slug type monster to terrorize either my tuskan raiders or sandtrooper on dewback but to no avail. When the worm did face the right way the legomen either were blurry, fell over or had stage fright! Don't they say something about never working with animals or legomen? Anyway - here is the closest to what I wanted - gonna keep trying for the perfect shot! this one sort of looks like the sandtrooper is chasing it(ish).
  4. Inspired by awesome results of Smokebelch I headed into the depths of my garden yesterday with some minifigs and my camera. Was getting annoyed at how hard it is to a) get the focus and light right and also b) get the whole positioning right to make them not just look like Legomen in plantpots! After many failed attempts my Rebel Troopers appeared and I got some results I was reasonably happy with - not in the same league as Smokebelch but see what you think.....
  5. After following this saga for weeks and weeks from the UK I finally buckled and searched international ebay sellers. There are loads from Germany listed ranging from £27 - £100. I got a £27 (obviously!) and figure that even if a similar offer reaches the UK (buy one for £5-£10 or free when u spend over £25 on lego) I haven't been ripped off completely as there is always the chance I miss out completely.
  6. Thanks Kim. Was going to post a topic at some point on the subject of yellowing. A few on my older scout troopers are suffering from this - is it just put down to sun exposure/time? Has no one found a cure yet or are the effects perminent?
  7. Hi folks. Here is my attempt to post my picture of my collection. More of a collection rather than an army seeing as I would rather have as many individual figures as possible than loads of the same one. Quite proad of my display cabinet which I "borrowed" from the shop I work in.
  8. Great and inspiring work (I may try some myself) - what about some ships involved against similar sunset type background/environments?. Those pics are that good I might get away with buying a print for my house and the wife not complaining too much!
  9. Hi guys, Got this reply from lego uk after sending an essay complaining of the wrongs of how unfair life is when you can't get hold of a chrome Vader! Dear Dan,Thanks for getting in touch with us again. We can understand your disappointment regarding the current LEGO US Chrome Darth Vader promotion. In the US they put randomly Chrome Darth Vader figures into current LEGO Star Wars sets. However, I can reveal to you that a Chrome Darth Vader promotion will also happen in the UK this year. It will be different to the US as we can't put the figures randomly into sets. Also it is not yet decided how to give the figures away. Therefore I would advise you to keep an open eye and you might be lucky get one of the Special Edition Chrome Darth Vaders. Please get in touch if you need anything else. It's free to call our experts on 00800 5346 5555 (Monday to Friday, 8am - 5pm) or you could go to www.LEGOshop.com. Best regards Thomas GötzeLEGO Direct there is still hope then......
  10. The one dissappointment for me is that they are identical to IG-88 which makes him less special to own somehow (if that makes sense).
  11. Is there not a slight chance that the chrome will appear in all sets when released? I live in hope because the preview pic of the Tie Advanced box has the Anniversary logo on whilst none of the others do. Grasping at straws maybe? ps: amazed by this website/forum - thought I was a hardcore fan (and one of a rare breed) but seeing some of the collections and customs has made me realize "I will double my efforts"!
