REVIEW: 7307 Flying Mummy Attack
Commander Laquiet replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I have to say I don't quite buy your criticism of the bi-plane. I like it's more playable than realistic design, and I think it's size gives it a lot of character, something some sets in new themes starkly lack. However, I can see why some would not exactly adore it. I'll be getting this set though. Seems to me like a cool plane with great minifigs and some interesting pieces. -
Exactly my opinion. I tend to think that my interest is based around Star Wars (and castle) so I may branch out into another theme for a short time (i.e Prince of Persia) but there'll always be at least one SW set in the new wave that will interest me enough to buy it. SW is also a fallback option; if there is nothing I currently like on the market, I will resort to that SW set that is hovering in my mind. Even if the theme does release a poor wave or just re-hashes of previous sets, I would still buy one, partly for sentimental reasons but also because there has not yet been a wave, in my mind, that hasn't produced a good set.

Great building! I really like the transition between the tower and rock face, that came off really nicely. Your sea beast is well designed, and the scene well built overall. Good luck in the contest!

Yes! If these sets are anything like the PoP sets (great parts, colours, and designs for a licensed theme) then we are in for a treat. I can see some possible sets that would treasure-troves ( ) already: a Shipwreck Cove set springs to mind. And Singapore could be a fantastic set. Great news! I would kind of assume this is why Lego cancelled the system Pirates this year. Having two similar lines on the market might not help sales (no matter how much AFOLs would love it).

REVIEW: 7327 Scorpion Pyramid
Commander Laquiet replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Thanks for this fantastic review! This set looks great, although a bit bland at some points. I have to say that while the pyramid design is great, being built on a huge baseplate means that without the stickers it becomes kind of boring without something to spice it up. I can see this set being a great one to do a MOCer's overhaul on, adding detail and fun. Overall though, great set and thanks for this (very early?) review! -
Goodness me! This is incredible. Some of the best large-scale MOCing I've seen.

Ha! It's great! Very laugh-worthy idea.

Battle of Endor all the way. SPC is nice, but for quality of the set itself Endor wins by light years.

Great MOC! While the new version is much 'cleaner' in it's detail (contrasting colour tiled floor is an example), I have to say I prefered the older version. It seems more chaotic, while in the newer version, Merlin is just having a 'moment of madness'. It kind of lost some of it's fun. However your rebuild is still fantastic, the curtains are a beutiful detail. Brilliant work.

Wonderful! Very fairytale like. Great MOC. I thought Tarzan swinging was the best part.

Looks great. Await my entry. Although, yellowed white pieces may be a problem for me... But this looks like an awesome contest. Can't wait for some incredible entries. A quick question: are we to design the entries as MOCs, i.e just a building, or as fairly realistic set designs (like the inclusion of brickbuilt trees, skating rinks, and general off baseplate accessories) I think you mean more along the lines of a set idea.

Whoa! That's very out there, but brilliant. The use of bright colours and wacky detail really make this stand out! The pink bear is great. Another great creation. The Eurobricks boards just keep getting better.

Great MOC! As others say, quite an unusual concept but it's come off really well. I really like the design of the 'bent' engines.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 3 poll
Commander Laquiet replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I just had to vote for our friend the elf, he is such a brilliant minifig. The torso, the leg print, the incredible shield... How I would love an army of these fair elven warriors . So terribly sad they are changing the barcoding-thing so you can't easily obtain multiples. However, at least Bricklink sellers will be happy! Anyway, I'm not actually very into multiple collecting, so it'll be fun to be kept guessing right until you open the packet (hoping, hoping, hoping for an elf ). I think the minifigure series has been great, and am very glad to see it continue. -
I'm not going to say much because this one doesn't need many words. It's great! Another fantastic MOC from the relentless MOC factory of Derfel Cardarn. I really love the rock wall. Simply brilliant touch.

Great! A good new collection of sets. I have to say that I love the new Police HQ, it looks very substantial in comparison to the older HQs. The kind of office block part with three floors looks really great for some reason. There's no big empty bits of baseplate like the old one had. Hooray for 2011 city!

This is one of those impossible questions... Really, if I were to choose a favourite I would name a time period which included the most themes that prospered and that I liked... but that's not the question. Therefore Castle probably has to be my pick, closely followed by Adventurers, Pirates and Star Wars. However the Prince of Persia line was lovely too. Oh, I almost forgot the Modulars, if they count. And the Winter line... But Castle leads the pack because of it's longevity and timelessness, and there are limitless building possibilities. And it gave us MMV . An idea for this topic - if you could somehow create an updatable poll, so people could choose their favourite theme but change it when they wanted, it could bring some interesting results i.e which themes were 'in' at a time, how popular new themes were etc. However, being naive in this sort of field I don't know if this is possible. Edit - and the list of themes to choose from in the poll would be quite large...

Beautiful creation LuxorV! That fountain with the PoP arches is lovely, and the statues are brilliant touch. The thing that finished the MOC for me, however, is the way you did the entranceway/doorway with the two dark/medium tangelo flesh nougat ( ) arches a stud apart. Fantastic MOCing.

Aside from the Lego point of view, it was an interesting map. I thought Flickr was bigger than that. However it is great that Brickshelf made it!

The LEGO Group Wants to Hear From You!
Commander Laquiet replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Done! A good survey I thought, I voted on more sets with accessories and buildings over battle scenes (ala MMV). -
This looks brilliant. While your big works are great, I have to say I almost like your smaller ones better, as they are packed with detail in the style of your building. Awesome.

This is really nicely done. The navy blue of the roof seems to work perfectly with the brickwork, and the ivy/plants growing up the far wall add to the MOC greatly. Great job!

'All I Want Is You' - U2 Brilliant song.

Nice MOC. Inventive use of the Microfigs, and the scene is nicely built too. Well done
