Gorgeous creations. Simply stunning work.
-
How on earth did I conspire to miss this back in January?! It is brilliant, as usual. This is a higher class of building, where you, once again as usual, demonstrate how the most simple brick can be manipulated to create a wonderful effect, like that wall. The whole thing is a piece of art. (sorry if I've just reiterated everyone else's views ) This is classic MOC in my books. Just like Tortuga and Cheddar Gorge. They all are an inspiration to any builder.

Wow, brilliant work! Those stairs are just fantastic, and the rock work of the building is great. I love the colour variation in the water too. The only constructive criticism I have is that the cliff seems a bit plain - maybe some dark grey or more plant life would make it more interesting? Otherwise though, brilliant!

Moc: Tropical forest
Commander Laquiet replied to Captain Flint's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Wonderful MOC! It really does give off a very tropical feel, all your forest is very lush and bright. Your cliffs are very nice too. -
Very well done, and the colour scheme is spot on. I think a big MOC with many of these walkers scouring the apocalyptic wreckage would look great.

Great work! Awesome idea and executed very well indeed. I really admire the arch work inside, and your plant life looks lush and green. Great!

Brilliant! One of the best creations I've seen in a while, no doubt. I love the architecture, and the little protruding tower with the blue slope roof looks lovely.

Great! Finally some really good pics! Thanks Grogall! Although I almost wish I had never seen them, as I now need them all so desperately. As everyone is saying, I think this is one of the best SW waves thus far. The podracers are brilliant, Ewok Attack (apart from that bit of the speeder) is very nice, the R. Frigate is awesome, and the MF, while still not perfect (the cockpit) is in my opinion the best system scale rendition so far. Congrats to the Lego designers! They've made many a collector's day, including myself .

Great creation! I think you've done an excellent job, given the difficulty of accurately representing all of the weird angles on this particular ship. But despite it's accuracy in size, etc it still looks like a fun model. Awesome work.

My very first Pirates display
Commander Laquiet replied to Captain Green Hair's topic in Pirate MOCs
Great work! Just about the perfect display, in my opinion: not overwhelmingly huge with heaps of stuff clogging it up, but simple and effective. Both ships look beautiful. -
How does the POTC theme fit into your world?
Commander Laquiet replied to David Thomsen's topic in LEGO Pirates
I'll try and buy the smaller sets, hopefully multiples of the Captains Cabin. Lots of great pieces. -
Lego chickens! I never thought this wonderful day would come! That little forge is a budget blower in terms of buying multiples. I can't see a bad piece in the whole set. And the mill looks lovely... these almost hark back to some of the classic system sets (though nothing will ever replace the classics) but have a nice modern touch. Thank you Lego!

Achille, a French frigate carrying 36 guns
Commander Laquiet replied to BrickPerfection's topic in Pirate MOCs
This is wonderful. It is obvious from the pictures that you have put hours upon hours of work into this masterpiece. Absolutely beautiful to look at. One massive detail that makes this ship unique is the inclusion of a gorgeous interior. I know that Croissant and Capt. Blackmoor have both also put great interiors into their ships, and I commend them and anyone else who has done this (I wouldn't know as I don't browse this particular part of Eurobricks nearly as much as I used too .) But I think that to have an interior as detailed, spacious and immaculate as this and still manage to create a beautiful external to the ship is a true achievement. And, for all Bonaparte and CGH's minifig illusion scale ship's beauty and shape, I like this one more. It has tried hard to create a realistic experience, but not too hard. It just looks like a brilliant piece of Lego. -
Oh wow. Just incredible sets. The ship, from the back at least, looks like it could be great (with just a little modding). And that Imperial Officer's torso! The other sets, while some are a bit average, still look good, and worth the purchase even just for the parts and figures. My wallet groans...

BrickLink Shopping Habits?
Commander Laquiet replied to OrangeKNight's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I think Bricklink is a great resource, and though I don't use it much the few orders I've placed have been some of my best Lego purchases. I think buying specifically for a MOC or whatever is the way to go, as I find it saves time as you tend to know what you need. However as others have said you do have to be aware of overusing it. I think it was CGH who once nicknamed it 'cracklink' in reference to it's addictive properties. -
Yeah. I guess Diagon Alley should be around for a while yet anyway, so that could possibly be a later purchase.
-
Dilemma: Medieval Market Village or Diagon Alley? Both are wonderful but I cannot decide which. And no, both is not an answer .
-
Great MOC! I love all the small details.

Good work! I really like the island idea. The whole thing connects well, there are no empty parts but neither are there overloaded sections. I must admit to not liking the roof of the cart, though. I think it needs to be brown, but that's just my opinion. Other than that, awesome work! Good luck in the contest, although there seems to be some good competition.

I have often wondered that too. It definitely seems to be his prefered technique. Any way, great work as per normal. The water wheel is an improvement on the older one, in my opinion.

Brilliant! This MOC showcases the beauty that can be achieved with Lego; the scene brims with colour and life.

I think I submitted a vote ages ago, whilst scanning the topic. However I now can't remember what I voted for . I simply loved the books. I had read each book before I saw it's film incarnation so the great films further cemented in my mind that the Harry Potter series were some of my favourite books/movies. I can't say I was that into the 1st wave of HP Lego but picked up a large number of sets in the 2nd wave after it became apparent it was a good line. I remember loving it because of it's wonderful portrayal of the movies: The sets recreated the scenes wonderfully, with quirky little details and wonderful traps and obstacles. My absolute favourite HP set is still 4729 Dumbledore's Office. I think it epitomised the theme: Fantastic colours and parts, great minifigs and a really intriguing, not-your-usual style building. It had some great sub-models too, like the chair and the key-holder. However, two other sets come close to this one: firstlyy 4758 Hogwart's Express from the Prisoner of Azkaban (great train, cool minifigs) and another, very unlikely set: 4711 Flying Lesson. Flying Lesson boasted very little in parts, but was entirely a goodie. It had two good minifigs, a cool cart with nice parts, and the Remembrall - one of my favourite parts of all time. So, really, I love everything about the theme. But to pick one, it is probably 'huge fan of books' as that was the whole reason I know Harry and his friends.

Interesting topic. I definitely think, as mentioned, the 'Clash of the Titans' style theme would be a good theme. It could be done really really well. I would personally love to see an Caveman theme. I know this has been discussed many times and isn't exactly what you are asking about, but an ancient line would be awesome. It would be achievable too; it is quite an accessible 'idea'. Imagine an exclusive, highly detailed Stonehenge set!

No Remorse! Falcon Watchtower
Commander Laquiet replied to Derfel Cadarn's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Whoa! Another that blew me away the moment I saw it! You have an unerring ability to churn out fantastic MOCs on what seems to be at least a weekly basis! I think it's great that you are focussing more on your buildings in recent MOCs. I think it's a side of your MOCing that has remained fairly unexplored until recently. And it is so good that it deserves to be further explored. The thing I like most about the MOC is the ivy winding up the sides of the tower. A really good detail. The little tree is lovely too.
