  1. Wow that looks amazing! And it is bigger than I imagined. Might be a day 1 purchase for me.
  2. Thank you for your quick response jonwil. I hope soon mean within a week or two, hopefully by the end of this week, we can see some new sets on the shelves. Cheers!
  3. I wonder when will this series will be officially revealed by the Lego group. Isn't it suppose to be released in September in some countries. Also I can't wait to read whitefang's review - the waiting is killing me..
  4. Has anyone sighted the new 'winter' wave sets such as the new ninjago, star wars, scooby doo in the wild yet? Do we know when will these be released in the local retail shops?
  5. Finally, we've got the official pics!! These turn out much better than I expected, therefore may end up buying the whole set. I would say that the crazy scientist is probably my least favourite, there is just something about that head and the glasses and weird eyes - reminds me of minions from despicable me. Perhaps the review may change my mind once we know what he looks like side way. I'm also not too fond of how the monster eating plant guy turns out. Excellent new mould, but his face doesn't look right in the head piece and the vine whips are not convincing as extension of his arms, more like he's holding onto them. In my opinion, this figure has so much potential, but looks cheaply made with the accessories.
  6. As a huge Lego minifigures fan and collector ( I have all series up to date, including simpsons), I must say that I was excited when I heard that this is going to be a monster themed series. When the first sets of leaks came out, I was thinking that these must be some sort of custom figs. You gotta be joking right? I mean Lego have higher standard than this, so far I'm impressed with all the minifigures up to date, including the simpsons. And to think of the possibilities, I was prepare to think that Lego would do something much more original, costumes or non costume minifigures, but seeing that everything is pretty much confirmed now. I am a tad disappointed that it is repeat after repeat. I may still buy some of the ones I like (like the gargoyle), but other than that, this may be the only series where I will not get the full set. I just feel that the combination of some of the figures are just too awkward (for e.g. the spider lady, a cool fig.. but that hair... just make her look awful, would be better if it was straight hair. And then there are the others.. sigh. There is still a glimmer of hope that the final pics will change my opinion. I highly doubt it though as some of these look to be pretty final.
  7. I'm a new fan of Lego trains, just bought my first Lego train set (60052 - cargo train) and loving every bits of it. I'm annoyed that I haven't gotten into Lego trains earlier. Would love to have the emerald and maerks train in my collection. I've just bought the Lego station (60050), looking to source extra tracks, picking up horizon express this Saturday for $200AU and have ordered additional power function/motor/lights from the Lego shop for the HE. I think I'm addicted! I hope Lego continue to release more trains in the future, especially creator trains. I'm not so impressed with the heavy haul train but might end up buying it anyway for my collection and to support Lego trains.
  8. My ultimate favourite would be Medusa, can't wait to grab a few of this figure. I read somewhere that it is quite rare probably due to it's size (easy feel) and uniqueness, thus would probably sold out quickly and increase in price later on. Second place is the roman soldiers, and third is a tie between the sad clown and revolutionary soldier. The sad clown is an interesting fig, but not an army builder fig. My least favourites are the mechanic and the warrior woman. Each fig is unique in each own's way and I will probably end up buying all of them to complete the set and maybe a couple more of my favourite figures. Can't wait for them to be released in Australia. We got series 9 in store on the 3rd of January, thus can't be far away from the official date. I do hope that they turn up in store around April.
  9. I'm suprised to see very little posting on this thread. I guess the hype is not as great as series 9, perhaps now that we've seen the official pictures of the figures, no one really care anymore. Or perhaps the Mr Gold chase put collectors off. Whatever it is, I'm still waiting for Whitefang's review if there is one at all and also for the release dates in stores.
  10. Thanks for all your responses guys. While some forms of changes are inevitable as mentioned by '1974', I guess nothing last forever in this world. Atleast something which you will get out of collecting Lego is the good fun memories. And I guess if you take care of them, they will probably last much longer. Still I don't understand why some people will pay thousands of dollars on ebay to buy a rare minifigure, when the figure itself may loose quality over time.
  11. Hi, I am not sure whether or not this topic has been convered before. Recently I've came out of my dark ages and have been collection heaps of legos, mainly minifigures and it got me thinking, will the lego minifigures that I am collecting now be the same quality in 10 years time, or 20 years time? Or will they deteriorate in colour and shape etc? And if they will loose quality over time, what is the point of investing heaps of time and money collecting them now? Currently I keep all my figures on a bookshelf, away from sun light. Some of them are contained in a plastic display box to keep dust away, but of course I can't do that for all figures due to space and money limitation. So what is the oldest minifigure do you guys own, how long have you got it for and how is the quality of it compare to when you first acquired it? It would be interesting to know.
  12. Will the train set come with the motor as well? Also I can't wait to get my hands on the stage coach and the calvary builder. Finally I can start my horse collection. You can never get enough of animals lego.
  13. Thanks for the review. After much deliberation on whether or not to try out one of the ninja turtle sets, I've finally bit my tongue and went ahead to purchase this set. Originally I planned to only buy the figures from bricklink or ebay, but the ridiculous prices on ebay put me off. Was I please with this set? Definitely for the figures - Donatelly looks SOO awesome and I like Shredder's helmet and shoulder gear as well. The other thing which is a definitely a BIG plus for this set, is that the wheels of the motorbike are made out of rubber and NOT plastic, like the Chima sets which seem so cheap. I'm still planning to somehow obtain the remaining turtles, but I'm not going to buy the sets simply because I don't like any of the other figures especially the bad guys and the vehicles look like they've been hurriedly put together. I'm also definitely not going to buy sets just for the parts as I don't see many useful parts in the Ninja Turtles Sets. Perhaps in the future, we will see more interesting sets/charaters.
  14. I've got to admit that I'm a BIG fan of the turtles, grew up with them. But from the sets I've seen of them, the only good things about them are the figures of the turtles and also shredder, April and maybe splinter. The rests are just meh! and quite ugly looking too, look at fishface for example, that figure looks very awkward and dogpound looks like that crash bandicoot, the game character, can't remember the exact name. And the price - don't even go there. I have plan to only collect the mini-figures and that's about all.
  15. At this stage, the crocodile faction because their figures look the most interesting. I only wish they have tail like the tv show, but then again, they wouldn't be able to sit. I am also a big fan of gorillas, will probably change my mind after the gorilla figures are out. They look good from the photos I've seen.
