One of these was my first one....

Financially, it'd be a stupid idea for Lego. The impulses sell like hot-cakes and Lego would much rather sell figures for $3.50 than 4 for $10.
-
The issue isn't about which color is better; it's about the fact they changed their main colors after 45 years....what does Lego want everyone to do with the old colors? By this time most people have just bought their way out of the issue and restarted their collections but there are some of us who just don't want to do that.

It took me about a year on my own to find out that the bleys were different....I just figured my old grays were faded when I compared them. Eventually, I figured out that they were indeed different and after that I (like many others here) stopped buying a lot of sets. I'm not going to just start over and replace my whole collection for no reason.

Lego-wise I got the Collector's Guide and 4 boxes of curved 9v rail.
-
True but I expected them all to reach the hot selling list on legoshop but none have yet - although I'm sure that'll change once the new catalog comes out and the majority of Lego fans see them.

Everything was 30% off at the one I went to. It barely takes off the markup to begin with. I'm sorta glad they're finally going out of business.

I really don't know. I have both of these ships but it's impossible for me to decide. The BSB does look more realistic but I still really like aspects of the SES. They are by far the two best ships.

The fact that I don't know what half the colors everyone above me is mentioning proves that Lego has way too many colors. The old pirates were simple because they had: Black, light gray, dark gray, yellow, red, blue, green, white, brown and gold. All basic colors. Now we have those basic colors plus the colors mentioned above (pearl gray, pale grey, pearl gold, navy blue, metallic silver, pearl silver) and any other colors Lego has that they haven't used on pirates yet. That's the #1 reason why new Lego sets will NEVER match the old ones. Period.

#6268 Renegade Runner on a birthday in '94...I still have a video of me opening it.

Exactly. It sucks but....once in a while there's still good stuff left.

Where do you buy your lego from?

Wherever has the biggest sale. -
There are hundreds of MISB ones on ebay right now...and yesterday they were going for about $100-$110 plus shipping. They will only go up from there. If you wait until after Christmas, my guess is 75% of these will be opened and few MISB will be left and the price will go up another $40.

Admiral Woodhouse. Figure I liked the most growing up.

Like already mentioned, where's Cannon Cove? I voted for Imperial Outpost.

I played piano for 6 years...and have been playing drums and guitar for a few years.

Is it OK to mix dark skinned mini-figures with yellow mini-figures?
MillerTime replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Lucky's head from Lego racer sets back in 2000. (don't ask me how I knew that haha) http://www.peeron.com/inv/sets/6617-1 -
I have two of this set. It's pretty cool. The thing that I find the most interesting is how Lego sets have changed a lot over the years. The old sets from 20 years ago were all brick built...new ones incorporate different ways to build and pretty much have 0 bricks. I like the brick built ones better...they seem more Lego-like. I guess that's just because they're the ones I grew up with.

Which is mightier - Black Seas Barracuda OR Brickbeard's Bounty?
MillerTime replied to Captain Zuloo's topic in LEGO Pirates
I was talking about the pricing on the BSB. The remake came out as $90. Perhaps but the remake came out as $90 like what, 5-6 years ago? According to your link, $90 in 2002 is worth $103.73 in '07. That makes 11.57 cents per piece. Now, I don't carea bout price per part ratio very much because it can be very deceiving. Parts range in many different sizes for different sets and lots of people don't seem to take that into consideration. I just look at the set as a whole when judging price. -

The color shift is light bley, dark bley, brown, etc. Most of the ship is the new brown...which sucks for all the people who had their collections before Lego made the change. (I don't wanna start that argument all over again....it's been years now haha) BSB has black, light gray, white and yellow. How were those uncommon in 1989? The pricing on the BSB is confusing to me...the original came out as what, $120? But the re-make came out as $90....I don't see how it can change by $30 that easily. Anyway, I was just giving the reasons why I dislike the new ship. I guess if everyone agreed, there would be no point in posting. -
I didn't say every tanker, I said maybe a few. Eventually pirates will pick the correct one and they'll lose. That one failed attempt will create a fear factor for all pirates out there. :pir-skull:

Is it OK to mix dark skinned mini-figures with yellow mini-figures?
MillerTime replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Yellow is universal skin tone, so why mix it with another? If you use fleshies, then you can mix whatever colors you want...pretty simple. -
My two best would have to be #4534 Target train exclusive for $10 instead of $160 brand new a few years ago.. Then black friday a couple years ago with the Millennium Falcon for $50 instead of $100...which then soared to over $200 on ebay so that turned out to be a great deal. Lots of things I foolishly turned down like stacks of UCS Yoda's at KBtoys for $40.......original AT-TE half off at Target, etc. Also lots of good eBay steals.

First off, when Lego switched to bley all old sets automatically start with an edge. Next, it has too many different uncommon colors, horrible masts, bad way to put sails on masts, horrible skulls on sails, from the pics I've seen...I don't see much detail at all, there isn't much on the boat hulls near the cannons like on the old ships. All of that together with a $100 price tag (a little overpriced) deter me from buying it. -
Is this set really called a fort? It's a dock with a jail cell and a small tower.
