I would think a good way to fight it is to go undercover on some tankers and take down the pirates when they climb on board....even if you just do it once, it'd create a HUGE fear factor.

Atleast they don't seem to be killing anybody.... That was a bold statement. (no proof that that is contributing to warming temperatures.) Anywayyyyy back to the pirates. Now if they were slaughtering the crews of these ships then military action definitely needs to be taken. It should still be taken but definitely a higher priority if that was happening.

I believe Lego did this with the Weapons Wagon from Western sets.

The BSB has 4 cannons, and depending on when and where you bought the set, has the dark gray shooting cannons. I think everyone here can agree the skull and crossbones is a con for the new ship.

That one is already available at many TRU's. I got 2 of the cannon sets. That's all of the pirate sets for me unless they come out with some better ones next year.

The new one would be able to fire with more cannons at once against the BSB but the BSB just looks like a realistic pirate ship...the new one looks like it was made for 5 year-olds. So I'm giving extra points to the BSB for fear factor so in my book that one wins.

They were still getting rid of the old colors six months ago? Wow. The muskets are going for almost 50 cents each on BL now so that's insane. I'll just dream it happened to me and I'll feel better.

WOW. I would probably die if I saw old brown muskets at a PaB...that's insane. How many years ago was this and at which Lego store?

The cannon set I got comes with an extra blue, but unfortunately the color I'm missing some of is red which only comes with the $50 soldier dock. The blue ones are exactly the same blue as the original ones, right? I compared them and they are pretty far off but I'm not sure if the originals are just very discolored or if the shades are slightly different...

Yeah I was gonna say...I saw both the pirate one and the castle one at my TRU.

I got two of these sets at my TRU today with the 15% off coupons. I'm done getting the new pirate sets already. Much better than the soldier impulse. For $2.50 more you get the cannon, a pirate, and other pieces that include most of the pieces from the impulse anyway. I also saw the kraken attackin and the $10 pirate creator set but nothing else. Heh, I just realized...the last time I got a set this small in a store at retail price was back in the 90's.

I bought one off ebay a few months ago for about $30 shipped and it was missing a couple pieces.

I voted for Cannon Battle. It's the best set for the price tag by far and you have to include price in your selection otherwise the biggest set will always win.

This set isn't horrible but the price should be $40 max, maybe less. They took out an expensive baseplate from the set so aside from new pieces (which should also be used in pirate sets to come) I have no idea why it's so much...except that they know people will still pay it.

I agree 100% with the other guy, I thought it should be an $8 set too. A 25% markup is quite a bit.

This set is very nicely priced...I'll be getting 1-2. Unfortunately, it's pretty much the only Pirate set that doesn't look overpriced to me. Most of the rest do, especially since Lego went the cheap route and didn't even include baseplates in the $40-$50 sets.

Just registered. I don't turn 18 until August but Bonaparte said I could register, so here I am. My favorite Lego theme is the classic pirates. I just bought most of the pirate sets a few months ago off ebay (costed me a few paychecks, but worth it). That's about it.

Don't count on it...even though Target is getting smarter and knows that the sets will sell out either way (50% or 40% off) and upped the price, it will still most likely sellout within 1-2 hours. I highly doubt they will save any for the following day...however, they might have rainchecks. I ended up getting a Falcon 2 years ago but I also saw rainchecks for it later the same day when it was gone. By the way, hey all, I just registered.
