  1. Blue baseplates are now on Shop at Home!
  2. Back in the day they sold all 3 baseplates: x-large gray, large blue and green....then they stopped selling blue. Until now.
  3. Pirates is an old theme. Back in the 80's and and mid 90's Lego themes didn't have "good versus bad", it had opposing factions and would let the kids' imaginations decide. (space, classic castle, pirates, etc) Nowadays kids need to be told who is good and who is bad....no imagination left. Close to every single theme these last couple years is good versus evil.
  4. I got the Renegade Runner brand new for a birthday back in I think, '93/'94? My first pirate set and one of my first Lego sets for that matter. Besides what everyone else said, no steering wheel (always wondered why they couldn't add a few pieces and put one in) it's a pretty cool little set. The CBC is a lame excuse for a ship. It's the only pirate ship I don't have.
  5. Don't complain about the price if you're gonna pay it. That's just retarded. The only way prices for any of Lego's items will go down is if people don't buy them when they know they're overpriced. Countless times I've seen people say "This is way overpriced. Oh well. I'll get it anyway." Just say no. By the way, is this thing out yet?? I haven't heard anything about it in a long time.
  6. Anyone who knows a BSB will no doubt vote for it. It is by far one of the best Lego sets ever. It's the best pirate ship although SES is very close. The BB is like the BSB combined with the viking ship. It is way too open and simple and un-realistic. The sails suck. The new pirates sets are too cartoony. It's a no-brainer. I have 7/8 of the old ships but will not buy the BB. It's a disgrace to pirates in my opinion. Yuck.
  7. Not even close. 1989 had such great sets and great designs... 2009 has the bley colors (still worst mistake in Lego's history), pretty bad parts choice, it's aimed at young kids with its cartoon skulls instead of realistic ones for original pirates and the designs are way too simplified. The figs are good but the 1989 figs were great just the way they were. Not to mention many of the new figs are very cheap plastic. 1989 wins in a landslide in every category.
  8. Thanks for the answers everyone!
  9. The BSB is more realistic and I'd say slightly better of a ship but SES is rarer of the two so I would go with SES. But if we even up the rarity and there was only one left MISB of both in the whole world I would take BSB.
  10. I have a large engine with tender, 4 of the passenger cars and a 10014 caboose. I'm thinking of getting 1-2 more passenger cars but just thought I'd make sure it could pull all of them before getting anymore. I think I read somewhere last year about the number 1 motor could pull but I totally forget. Anyone know?
  11. I mean't the official 10015 Passenger Car. Sorry for not making that clear.
  12. Hi, I just have a quick question about the number of passenger cars a 9v train motor can pull. I already have a few but was thinking of getting a couple more but if it would require me to get a 2nd train motor to pull, I'll forget it. Thanks.
  13. Best: -Classic pirates -Space from the 90's (including small themes like ice planet, spyrius, space police, etc) -Castle from 90's and earlier Worst: -Galidor -Bionicle -Knights Kingdom -Exo-force There lots of other like classic town, island xtreme stunts (I actually really liked that theme), wild west, xtreme team, Star wars, etc that were also good.
  14. Is that a treasure chest or a clam?
  15. This is why: Lego will always be this expensive when people complain about the prices but yet, buy them anyway.
  16. I haven't checked but I'm assuming you could easily get it under $40 USD. Now if it has the box and instructions in perfect shape and like you said, is in excellent condition, it's not a huge surprise it sold for that high.
  17. I feel so sorry for his dad. I'll definitely be praying for them.
  18. Excellent point. So far, I believe only the two impulses have even made the top 25 selling list for Lego....compared to what seems to be loads of Star Wars and even City sets.
  19. That ebay auction for some sails doesn't include one of the big ones that you need....still might be a good deal to replace some other ones you already have and get a couple small ones you need though.
  20. I think I have about 5.
  21. Good look finding those sails...what's the going rate, $50 per set? Very expensive.
  22. Last summer, I bought a lot of old pirate sets off ebay. If you're patient you'll find some good deals (prices are in USD and include shipping): Imperial Flagship: You should be able to find one for around $50 off ebay Eldorado Fortress: I already had this one so I haven't really looked for it on ebay. Caribbean Clipper: Anything under $70 is a good deal and I've seen about 5 of them go from $60-$70 in the last few months. Imperial Trading post: I got mine for about $115....some sell that cheap so be patient. Renegade Runner: I got this one back in '94 so I haven't looked on ebay but I imagine you can get it for under $40. Redbeard Runner: This is easily the worst of the big ships (I still haven't even bought it yet). I would just forget it if I were you and go for SES or BSB. I got a complete and great condition Black Seas Barracuda with extra pieces for $101 shipped off ebay a while ago....prices on this ship have been anywhere from $100 to $250...you could probably find one for under $120 if you looked for a few weeks.
  23. Look up four posts.
  24. True but those are $13 and they are only figures with no accessories...I was thinking more along the lines of a SW battlepack.
  25. If Lego was allowed to sell Star Wars impulses, they wouldn't have battlepacks...and they'd most likely be making quite a bit more money. And everybody loves hotcakes. :P
