  1. The house is great and I like that you've done a DC inspired roof! I think the biggest improvement is photo quality; these are really good! Keep up the builds!
  2. Welcome back from your campaign in the snowy mountains Hersir Chorian! I trust you defeated the snow goblins? I can't wait to see you all jump into the race last minute; I've seen some things on Flickr so I know people are getting ready to run, but we'll keep it under wraps until they are ready to make a formal announcement. How do you guys want to vote on the PM candidates; our guild only, or open it up to all members to vote? I'm taking ideas on what we can do to make our Guild better; we are fewer than the members of other guilds, but we still have the highest score. Let me know how we can be a better group, and what would make the Guild experience more interesting and exciting for you!
  3. Greetings again Guildsmen, Just a few reminders: 1) There are 5 days (counting today) left in the Prime Minister Election. So far we only have one candidate; let's make the race a challenge, submit your candidacy today and campaign to be the first Mitgardian Prime Minister in our Guild's History! Election is on the 11th of march! Submit post here 2) There are 3 weeks left to submit entrees for the Valholl Micro-Scale Build Challenge! If you haven't done so, post in the official thread here, not just in this forum! Keep in mind that there is a Jarl Nibelung Minifigure, a $20 LegoShop gift card and a Letter from Valholl as prizes for the winning design, as well as the title, Master Architect of Valholl. 3) There will be an announcement made soon about what prize the winner of Challenge III treasure hunt will receive; let me just say, this is the biggest prize we have gotten for this kind of build to date, so hopefully it will be a motivating factor in striving for quality MOC's! 4) A lot of members don't seem to be active anymore: the Inventor On Stranger Tides General Talon beardurham Viceroy _dargor_ Busboy489 macfarlandman Duplicatus Sirius Balck prvi svog imena If you guys are taking a break that's OK, just give us a post if you intend to come back for later challnges, if not let us know if you're dropping from the Guild! Long Live Mighty Mitgardia!
  4. Announcing: Challenge III - Treasure Hunt Jarl Nibelung: "Greetings fellow Guildsmen, from the Royal Hall at Valholl Castle! My nephew Ragnar, "the fearless" Nibelung, has just returned from his quest for the high King. Let us find out what news he brings!." Ragnar: "My dear Uncle, you will not believe the news I bring! We must mobilize all of Mitgardia to help us in a great quest! I fear it is an almost impossible task!" Jarl Nibelung: "Fear not Ragnar, if it is the High King's wish we will commit all of Mitgardia's Might to it! Now, do tell all the details." ... Description: Build an epic scene which depicts your adventurer entering and searching a mysterious location for the Elemental Crystals. The location may be any fantasy/castle site you wish, but it must feel ancient, remote, and ominous. (Ancient tombs, catacombs, jungle ruins, long-forgotten temples, sewers, caves, bandit hideouts and many others are all possibilities!) The crystal must be guarded by some sort of guardian or trap, and a heavy emphasis on thematic building is encouraged. (For example if you are building an ancient tomb, undead may guard the treasure, and if you are building a jungle locale, natives/wild animals may be the guardians)Guardians may be dispersed throughout the location, or only appear in the treasure chamber. Anything can be a guardian; from people, to magical beings to mechanized sentinels. Specifics: • No size limit: Build as big or small as you wish, points won’t be based on size, but on quality, detail and imagination. • Build must be an ancient site, may be set indoors, outdoors, in any climate and environment. • Build must include guardians. (see above) • Build should be accompanied by a short story about the adventurer's trials through the location. (Either comic-form or narrative paragraph) • Build must contain the correct crystal/gem piece for your Guild as a treasure: Avalonia - Green (Earth) Kaliphlin - Blue (Water) Mitgardia - Clear (Air) Nocturnus - Red (Fire) There are two months to build for this round, (Due date April 28th, 2012) and we are raising the bar of expectations yet again, so take your time and build quality MOC's! We will be looking for details, imagination, building techniques and good presentation. Let's find these crystals so that we may unlock the greatest treasure in all of Historica!
  5. It's still there, just invisible, when we update with announcements and challenges we set it invisible until we all agree/check for errors. Currently Challenge 3 is posted, awaiting approval by guild leaders, and will be made visible very soon. (Think less than a few hours)

  7. Looks great Taz! The lush green is very pleasant, and the interior is incredibly cozy! I like the way you did the flooring and how it ends with individual planks; I haven't seen that before.
  8. Greetings Mitgardians! @ Nom Carver: Welcome to the guild; we can never get enough Dwarven heroes! I look forward to seeing your builds. @ glenpinpat: Great rendition of Valholl, I hadn't considered whether or not LDD was allowed, but since this will be voted on, I'd say LDD is okay and we'll let the people decide which designs are best in the end! Please post it in the official micro-build thread. @kabel: We have our first Prime Minister Candidate;welcome to the running! Your description is great, and I really laughed at the Valholl University "Go Vikings" thing! Let's get some more entrees so that the mud-slinging can begin! Today or tomorrow we will officially announce Challenge III. Long live Mighty Mitgardia!
  9. Great MOC de Gothia! I'm a sucker for cozy interior builds and yours is just perfect! I really like the arches; that's something I hadn't even though of doing, it creates a good sense of dimensions. Clever use of minotaur head, and great lighting effects make for one gorgeous build. Well done!
  10. This thread is for posting campaigns only, please discuss it in the Mitgardia thread.
  11. Guildsmenn, let us lead the way in popular government in the Guilds by being the first to have a parliamentary body with a democratically elected prime Minister! I announce: The Parliamentary Election! What is it? --> A chance for any Mitgardian to create a small campaign (1 post long) and present his/her candidacy for prime Minister of Mitgardia! Who can run, and who can vote? --> Any Mitgardian Guildsman can run for the post, and all EB members are eligible to vote!! Why vote for a parliament when wee have a Jarl?[/b][/color] --> The wisest ruler recognizes that his power comes from the people he leads; thus it is a good idea to know that their voice is heard through an official governing body. When is the vote being held? --> The candidates will have a week and 2 days. (Until March 10th) to create a campaign post (described below) write a short speech, and post it in this thread. Voting will take place between March 10th and March 11th, the Guildsman with most votes wins and becomes the first Prime Minister of Mitgardia! How is the vote being held? --> Cast your votes in the poll right here! How do I enter my candidate in the running? --> Basically you post 1 single post in this thread. It must include: 1) A picture of your candidate, (could be just candidate, or a full scene, but he/she must be the dominating figure. Please don't post giant photos.) 2) Write a shot description on their history, why they are running and what changes they hope to bring. 3) Have a fun slogan, or campaign promise. (i.ee lower ale prices, no more orc riots etc) 4) Once a few candidacies are posted you may take a stab at one or more of the other candidates by spreading rumors, attacking their credential or just calling them troll-witted. (If you choose to take the high road you may ignore this section, but what fun is that? ) Let's have fun with this! Post your campaigns Below!
  12. Wonderful rednition of Valholl kabel! kabel brings a great idea to the table; a Mitgardian parliament! --> Any Mitgardian Guildsman can run for the post, and all Mitgardians will be encouraged to vote! (It doesn't have to be your avatar character, you can create a brand new character for this purpose) Why vote for a parliament when wee have a Jarl? --> The wisest ruler recognizes that his power comes from the people he leads; thus it is a good idea to know that their voice is heard through an official governing body. --> Still a work in progress, rest assured we'll have a fool-proof system in place soon. How do I enter my candidate in the running? --> Basically you post 1 single post in the Voting thread. It must include: 1) A picture of your candidate, (could be just candidate, or a full scene, but he/she must be the dominating figure. 13. Once again a great MOC with wonderful details! I really like your minifigure and their posing. (The guards ducking is my favorite ) Lighting came out much better this time around, just keep experimenting and soon you'll get the just of it! Great job once again!
  14. Wonderful job kabel! Not only are these your best work so far, but they are some of the best looking late medieval buildings I've seen yet! I love the style, looks perfect for Valholl! I like your idea for a Parliament, you guys want to hold elections for Prime Minister?
  15. How are you doing mate, haven't heard from you in a long time?

  16. @ Khorne: Good to have you back my dear Hersir, I can't wait too see what your project develops into. I would say it's absolutely okay to stat a new thread chronicling your province; after all all new MOC's get their own thread! About 6 of you have taken me up on my offer to get feedback from Round 2, and from what I can tell people appreciate hearing how their builds were judged, so don't be afraid to PM me and find out how your builds did! Challenge 3 has been finalized, we are just waiting for an OK to launch the announcement/details. Long live Mighty Mitgardia!
  17. Friends, AFOL's, Guild Members of Historica, lend us your ears! It is our pleasure to announce the results from Challenge 2, the Embassy Build: In this round our great lands came together in diplomacy and forged strong relations in the spheres of trade, knowledge, and culture! We had a lot of amazing entrees and as you can tell, judging was a long and thorough process, as each and every entry was considered and given a fair chance at being the best in it's Guild. With so many great models, it was difficult to choose the top ones. We now present you with the highest rated MOC's from each guild, as well as the overall top scoring Guild, both in terms of entrees submitted, and quality of said entrees. Total Guild Points: Mitgardia - 535 Gold Darics Nocturnus - 508 Gold Darics Kaliphlin - 532 Gold Darics Avalonia - 544 Gold Darics The winning guild for Round 2 is therefore: AVALONIA! Individual Guild Winners: Mitgardia: Ecclesiastes Nocturnus: lisqr Kaliphlin: Gabe Avalonia: Rolli These winners, as well as the Winners from Challenge One can expect to receive custom prizes designed and produced for Guilds of Historic exclusively. Details on these prizes will be released soon, but trust us when we say, they are well worth the wait. Congratulations to the winners, and a big thank you to all who participated! Stay tuned for the official announcement for Challenge 3! In addition; any Mitgardian who submitted a MOC for Challenge 2 and wishes to get personal feedback on how their MOC did and what was good/could be improved about it, PM me and I will do my best to explain. (I offer this as a courtesy just so that you have a way of keeping track of individual development)

  19. We do our best kabel, please keep in mind that we are coordinating things through 3 time zones, so it sometimes takes a while for everyone to be on the same page. We are streamlining the process and should have it being much more prompt and organized for round 3.
  20. PM me with the details and we'll discuss.
  21. Beautiful MOC Captain Flint! The architecture, balance of colors and the creative tomb are really top-notch! It seems you're using daylight to illuminate the MOC, which isn't a bad thing, but it casts dramatic shadows on your model. If I may, I would suggest that in a addition to daylight you use a lamp with a white halogen bulb to illuminate the model from the other side. (So in this case I'd place it in front and to the left. This will counteract the shadow and illuminate your beautiful MOC so that we can see it in its full glory!
  22. Well you heard it folks! Treasure Hunt Challenge will be announced sometime in the next few days, as well as the winners for Challenge 2! (Yes voting is done and we know who they are ) Welcome aboard Lerak! Look at the first post of this thread; under the map there is a Traveler's Guide to Mitgardia that Viceroy did. If you like one of the towns/villages already in place you can pick one, if you wish to add your own, PM Viceroy with the details so that he can add you to the map. If you don;t want to go through that process, you can just invent a small village and say it's "somewhere along the Southern Border" or something to that effect.
  23. That was the plan, DC is traveling so he may have to delay his post. Rest assured by Monday you will know exactly what Challenge 3 is.
  24. @ moorkueken: Nicholas Greybolt; Welcome to Mitgardia! Pleased to have you, I'm sure you'll have a great time here, and I look forward to seeing your builds! @Flint: You ask a very valid question; the reason it hasn't been discussed how builds are scored is not because it's secret, but because it's something we Guild Leaders seem to take as part of the job and sometimes forget that people could be curious about. Here is how it was done, full disclosure: Challenge 1: The top 5 watchtowers were picked out by Guild Leaders and then the towers were voted on. Winners were those towers that scored the highest score out of 50. Challenge Scoring Table: Represents/resembles your guild : 1-10 points/coins (If you build in Mitgardia we don't expect palm trees ) Realization/Build Quality: 10-30 points/coins (How well you depict the setting, theme of the challenge and how well you utilize techniques and challenge yourself) Composition/photo quality: 1-10 points/coins (How well you present the MOC; a bad picture can ruin even the best MOC, and great picture can make regular MOC's look incredible) (Minimum points possible 12, maximum possible 50) (Individual results are confidential, please do not ask us to release them) Challenge 2: The same system was used, except all entrees were scored, not just the presumed top 5, this way everybody had equal chance to get evalutted and win a prize. (Scoring is pretty much finished, we are formulating a formal announcement) For those of you (and there are a few) who are going a little nuts waiting for Challenge 3 to be released, let me ease your burden; it will be released officially in a post by Derfel tomorrow (Feb 24) at some point. Hope that answers all the questions!
  25. Very nice RobinBobin; you've maximized the layout on the baseplate and made perfect use of spacing to get the feel of a crowded medieval city quarter, establishing scene with a lot of details and textures. The masonry is really good.
