Some pics are blurry (blame the iPhone) but here is a little review of toy life in Japan. First, here are pics at the supermarket. Supermarkets in Japan always have a pile of toys integrated into the junk food lane (yes, toys are junk food!) Usually it's nothing too outrageous, but this store in Hokkaido had its own display case. In this pic, you can see some of the popular toys, the miniature plastic versions of regular foods, pancakes and the such, plus some Hello Kitty at the bottom. Here is a different supermarket, with some mini Daia-Blocks sets on sale, ala the old Kabaya sets. I've held off on buying one, since they're overly simplified, but I'll probably pick one up since they're under ¥200. Later on, I used the toilet at a game center (Japanese for 5 floor arcade) where the magic claw games were all about the sexy dolls. They are of some interest, but I don't have any in the house... I guess they make me feel weird still, though they're still of interest. More images available on request

Can you elaborate on your logic here? Would you like the sane majority be lessened because of poor banter?

Prince of Persia Theme Month Game: SIGNUP!

Yup. Kill me please -
Well, I'm shocked again. I've worked with Callie for months now, and she was always level-headed. Perhaps there's something about the island that is driving people to it? And my heart goes out to Mike's kids, I hope you can find some peace in the world despite the loss of your father. Let's see where the day takes us folks.

While I won't be at home in my bed for another two days, consider me in the game, and looking forward to dreading day 3's body count. -
For trying to start a lynch mob without reason: vote:seth Diaz/sandy

And voting a possibly sane person off will help I see no evidence, not a bit, that Ellen is insane. Give us a legitimate reason to even suspect them. Please.
-
I don't see the advantage of voting the guy who's been away from his computer for too long sitting on the far side of the island. If he's sane, we're just cutting our numbers down a little more. If he's insane, then it's just blind luck. I would rather wait till we had a better idea of what's going on to vote.

Most Annoying and Best Adverts in your Country?
def replied to Jipay's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Well then folks, try this on for size: Softbank, a phone company here, has a general campaign made up of a family that's a cute 20-something lady, a white dog, and a large black man. Here, Quentin Tarantino visits, and is called Taro-chan, chan being the suffix you use with children and cute girls. Yup, everyday, crazy. The blond says "hayaku kaite koi", which is roughly "Get your ass back here now!" -
Most Annoying and Best Adverts in your Country?

All the ads in Japan are terrible and usually nonsensical. Some are interesting because of the talent they get... I can remember Tommy Lee Jones, Kiefer Sutherland, Natalie Portman, Quentin Tarentino, Brad Pitt.... all the big stars come here to shill. But the commercials are still inane. Do you like this ad? -
Unfortunately, I think he's right, in that one of the staff is insane. But it's not that big a deal since there must be insane passengers too. Ultimately it's just a shot in the dark. And statistically no better chance any passenger.

I think Icarus was the investigator, that would explain why he was out at night, snooping.

This looks like great fun. I might just aim for 2012 or 2013... I've always wanted to visit Europe, and the missus is not entirely hostile to a Lego themed vacation. -

Inky, I'm sad to see your loss, but I feel extra sad for Pedro who got taken out of Scout's mafia, then this one. He must have a bulls-eye on the back of his head. -
This is absolutely shocking! What kind of island have I been stranded on? What a bunch of crazies! Was anyone able to find anything out about the survivors here?

I got this set today, and I'm 100% happy. For the price (¥2300), It's totally fair. A new turban, two ostriches, the amazing double-sword sheath... It's a bit nicknacky with three little builds, but I love it. I'm looking forward to the next paycheck to get my nest PoP set.

Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures...
def replied to The Kid's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I really liked this episode. It was actually creepy, which, as an adult, I rarely get anymore. When I was a kid I hated Dr. Who. My older brother watched it on PBS, and everything about it scared the shit out of me; the music, the Britain-quality filming, and everything that happened in it. Anyway, when I revisited it, it was rather camp, so I'm enjoying seeing an episode that walks that fine line between camp and suspense. I've liked every episode of this series more than the last, so I may just make it through the season! -
I was retarded. I just had trouble recognizing some slopes in isometric view. I like the set, but I'll hold off a few days to place my vote. I'm not decided on how much I like it versus the price.

I bought this today, and I loved it until... in building the base, the diagonal pieces don't work. I can put the dark grey pieces in. but the light grey pieces dislodge them. I spent too long with them today, and I'll give them another go, but at the moment it seems they made a design failure, or I'm retarded. (my money's on me being retarded.)

Carter? Who's idea was it? What's a girl gotta do to get a little respect here
-
I'd really like to read that. I bought that and Foucault's Pendulum at a book sale, but read Pendulum first, last fall. Really layered, I'm looking forward to getting into Rose in the future some time. I've seen the movie for it, so I know the gist.

Give me a comic with a teenage girl (let's say the legal age of 18-19) and yes, I was happy to free hand draw it.

Not the same at all, since that is looking for short online fiction. You'll get no apologies from me for that page

I'm just thinking to myself, late in the day, but... Would insanes sound insane, or would they sound really, really sane? Perhaps, investigating the voices of "reason" would be a wise bet...
