  1. Here's a thing about running a mafia game: I've spent dozens of hours throwing this together, and I want certain members to take part. So, I make room. Call it what you want, but I want to have the best possible game.
  2. Drink less alcohol, read more, exercise daily.
  3. Enjoy the holiday everyone
  4. <edit> Re-opened, for reasons I'll explain later.
  5. In order to improve the quality of games here, I want to start a discussion of how scum think (feel free to start your own town tactics thread). One of the most obvious tactics is to target away from scum. For example, if a townie votes for scum, that townie is safe. To kill them is to draw attention to their accusation. As an advanced technique, scum would kill that townie, claiming that as evidence of innocence. No scum would deliberately draw attention to themselves like that. The idea of this thread is to show the logic of scum. If you have been scum here or elsewhere, please share your thinking, in order to help new players, and to challenge yourself to do something different.
  6. Pretty cool! Escher was a master, and it pays to copy from the best. I'd like to see this with the camera pulled back, and a little better lit.
  7. Pin pon! pi-pi-pi-!
  8. Politely told. Rules have no meaning if authorities don't play along. Please don't make an issue of remarking on it, or you'll turn into Darth Sion.
  9. Daft Punk's Tron soundtrack. Really deep. They make me feel young and grown up at the same time. What kind of contradiction is that?
  10. Bu-buuu Rorschach test results are a necessity. It will help decide which ward you are placed in.
  11. Near 30 applicants in less than 24 hours? I'm very, very pleased. I appreciate the honesty of many of you with this test. It shows exactly how much help you need. Still lots of times for other applicants.
  12. That's a very poor question. Google "Rorschach test".
  13. It's a little unorthodox, but in light of Eurodina being extended a week, sign ups for the Asylum are starting in advance of Eurodina ending. The actual game will begin after Eurodina finishes. The reason for this is, this is a New Year's game, and I would like to start the sign-in on New Year's day, and is done with the permission of the Games Department. ________________________________________________ With that out of the way, without further ado... A crow's caw fades off into the distance. On a desk, a document is placed. It's a cold crisp New Year's morning. The sun is in the sky, but still the sky is somewhat gray. Here and there, flakes of snow fall. A sinister murder has occurred. Most definitely, there is more than one killer. In the hallway, in a broomcloset, Fred 'The Walrus' Siggy hung upside down, blood dripping down. The nurses and doctors on staff took care of the body, and tried to figure out what had happened. Outside, a squirrel scampers along the branches, knocking some snow off and the sound of snow dropping reverberates in the yard. The patients shuffled about, and took their meds, while the morning staff tried to keep a cool composure despite their obvious stress. Then, hospital administrator Dr. Blutziegel opens the door to the ward and addresses the inhabitants. Staff, patients, as you may know, one of our patients was, um, how shall I put this... made indisposed last night, and shall not be returning. Havel Pavlov will be joining our ward as the new fifth resident of Spider room. Please make him feel welcome and safe. But, as is my policy, I will not be involving the authorities in this matter. I prefer to resolve things in house. Or, I should say, I prefer you to resolve things in house. I expect you to clean up this matter, so we can continue with your treatment, your basket weaving, and your tile scrubbing. Until this business is cleared up, staff, you will not be permitted to leave the premises. We have set up some old mattresses for you to sleep on. Thank you for understanding the seriousness of the matter, and the need for your cooperation ________________________________________________ The asylum needs both staff and patients. I'm looking for 30 players. The attitude I'm going for in the game is people who want to roleplay, but not to the detriment of the game. Good roleplaying is like this: taking your character's bio and rolling with it, speaking in their voice, so to speak. Poor roleplaying is letting your character role affect your game play, like a nurse character going on and on about their faith in the doctor and not wanting to vote for them. Have fun and expand your role, but your role has nothing really to do with the game. Furthermore, town should be active, and trying to figure out who to trust, NOT sitting on their hands for the first few game days until someone announces they investigated someone and jumping on a bandwagon. This game is going to be a majority votes gets lynched game, not a 50% of the votes gets someone lynched one. Meaning, if only one vote is cast, that can get someone lynched when the clock runs out. And it will end at a pre-set hour, not when a number of votes is reached. Because of this, if town is lazy, they will have their asses handed to them. On top of that, if you break rules, you will get a penalty vote against you, potentially putting you at risk. If you have a problem with any of this kind of voting, and potentially will complain about any of it, DON'T PLAY. This is a different rhythm of mafia game, so go into it with a no expectations about what came before. It has its own modified rules. Lastly, this is a game that finds humor in the topic of mental illness, and all the unhappiness accompanied with it. It will be less offensive than an episode of Family Guy, but if you are a type who finds things in poor taste, this isn't the game for you. Enough with the scare tactics I think this will be a fun game, and will get people into a panic by day two. I hope to get people deeply caught up in this game. Do you qualify? Let's see. There's certain qualifications needed to take part in this game: 1) You have no plan to take a vacation over the next few weeks. This game will be played in roughly double time, about two game 'days' a week. If you are going to be away for three days, please don't submit. I predict it will last about a month. 2) Your Eurobricks mafia participation will be considered. Applicants will be approved in this order a) enthusiastic players, b) new players, c) floater players. No need to tell me, I've been keeping track. Actually, feel free to tell us how you've played so far 3) You must admit that you are insane. Assuming you satisfy criteria 1, 2, & 3 grab a pencil and paper, and move on to criteria 4. 4) You must submit to a psychological test. View these five Rorschach inkblots and for each one, tell the first thoughts that jumps to your mind. If you dwell on your answers, or read others answers before posting yours, you've already failed. Post your desire to play, plus a list from 1 to 5 with your Rorschach results. After posting your results, feel free to surf through the answers of other potential inmates. Looking forward to hearing from you! 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.
  14. Ahh, you're a total ringer! You're in! Sign up starts as soon as Eurodina ends
  15. It sounds reasonable that you'd want to investigate my home. I too would like to know why it is circled. I am nothing if not houseproud, and keep it in tip top shape. I clean it twice a week and have never seen anything out of the ordinary, not even the 'art' magazines Stevie keeps under his mattress. At worst, if we find no clues, it will give me a chance to make everyone some more of my legendary pie. I can make it in less than an hour, and all you will be satiated.
  16. I never knew Laura, but can those that knew her think of any reason why they'd want to hurt her? Was she happy? I still recommend going to the department store after we finish at the town hall.
  17. This was years back, and I didn't even know who she was at the time, so I didn't pay much attention. I remember the other woman was fairly attractive, and had a strange accent. But I can't recall ever seeing her since. Do any of you remember a woman with an accent hanging around this town?
  18. I'm glad to know my hubby was not involved Maybe we should visit the Department Store and try to figure out how they got to the roof?
  19. No comment on the high school thing. As for getting it ready, I think it's all done. Sign-up page made, avatars shot, bios written, rules hobbled together. Shortly after Eurodina's Conclusion goes up, we'll start sign-ups, I guess. Sign-ups could last a week (or 50 applicants), and then start the first week of January.
  20. Allow a woman a moment to compose herself, please. Sure, maybe you can be blasé about a murder occurring in front of us, but I certainly can't. I think I need a glass of red wine. As for not knowing the Lord, what decent God-fearing American doesn't know their Lord. First you fail to protect us, then you show a lack of faith...
  21. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! My lord, how could this happen with all us around? What are our police doing? Why aren't they more alert? I'm so scared. I'd like to go to the Town Hall as well. There are still things to discover there.
  22. I think there's room. But, and this is a big but, (which will be repeated in the sign up thread whenever it goes up) I really dislike people saying they're away from their computers because of school, family trips, anything that points out that you are most likely high school students. It comes up more and more in these games and it's a bad thing. Here's why: this is an adult site. Also, when you sign up for a game, you are making a commitment. The game runner is making a commitment and it isn't too much to ask players to make an equal commitment. If you can't contribute fully, just watch the game. You don't have to play. It's still fun. Eurodina is in its fourth month, so I understand something could come up in that time to pull you away from the game, but it's been an exception. This isn't aimed at anyone in this thread, just what's on my mind in general. I would rather have a new player than someone who had a chance previously and wasted it. Anyway, we'll see when Eurodina finishes. I'm really excited to get things operational.
  23. I watched Scott Pilgrim for the second time tonight. It's really a remarkable film. The comic is enjoyable, but I think the movie really trumps it. I'm from Toronto, so the setting kills me (location two, Casa Loma, is awesome, and, when I was in T.O. there was no night watch, so you could hop the fence and walk the grounds at night, an awesome, awesome memory). The integration of vocals and CGI are really fluid, and totally unexpected from the director, Wright, who's never done this sort of thing before. Except for the gaudy colors of Ramona Flowers, I love it all. Though if I were Scott, I would've gone for Knives at the end. I'll watch this every few years or so in the future. It reminds me of being 21.
  24. There will be 30 slots, and I think I'll be able to squeeze you in It took only a little while, but then I tweaked it on and off for a few weeks. The making was short, the editing was long. As for the rules, it's at the discretion of the game runner, plus the games moderator to approve it in the first place. If other game runners like what I do, they'll 'borrow', much like I have. I have a few 100% original bits, but 90% of my bits are borrowed. The tweaks make the game memorable. I followed Hogwarts, read through Baritones II, though not GP. If I like it, I'll use it. But most of what I'm borrowing isn't stuff I saw on this site.
  25. I know the feeling. I caught it roughly a year ago, and it's led to this. It's an amazing use of the Internet, and a great way for a dad with too much home time like me to spend time. Overall, I've been impressed with your participation in the last few games, so I hope you'll take part in this one.
