Since you name dropped me, I feel a need to set you straight. It's not that the models don't demand accuracy because the ships are fictitious. Remember that so you never have to say something so silly again. It's that when people think the key point is ACCURACY! to the point that they can be called a borderline obscenity (see the first post), a lot of fun is sucked out of the process, for me at least. Think about that: a bad MOC is an 'obscenity'. So, while I absolutely respect people spending months perfecting every little detail of a highly intricate design, it's not the be all and end all to me. I made my most elaborate MOC for my mafia game. It was a hospital. I had downloaded some pics off the Internet, and tried to copy a few architectural details, but largely just had fun with it. Because if I obsessed over details, it wouldn't have been fun. So, the bottom line? I agree with the emphasis on MOCs being mine. Of course we share, and give and get suggestions, but it should be in line with the target the maker was going for, and not some futile attempt to perfect your toy ship. Build it how you like. (I'm getting flashbacks to that thread a few months back where that mother wanted to tell her kid how to play with LEGO, her idea? Glue it together! It takes all kinds!

Are you really trying to tell us WWI was greater than WWII
-
Very true! I am impressed with some of the tiled MOCs I see, but they don't always look so 'fun' to me, and fun is one of the things I love with LEGO. So, when I see studs, I see youth and fun. I guess that's one of the reasons I got into City and other series, is they don't get over serious.

just because there's an intense debate over what a good SW MOC should be like, I'm starting this topic. You can follow the roots of this by clicking the link in the quoted portion, where you can see that apparently, according to FallenAngel, I think no accuracy is needed. Like, a 2x4 brick could legitimately called a Venator MOC I think it's pretty obvious that's not the case, but it seems to need clarification, and it's a healthy SW based discussion. The target of your MOC is really important. I really love the ultimate Tie Fighter MOCs that Walter Kovacs did, and I love the mini-scale sets that Legostein does, and obviously they are going for very different scales, and the detailing and proportions are going to be very different, with the bigger the ship, the more we can hope from a MOC. At the minifig scale, I really enjoy MOCs that look like they could be part of the LEGO line up. A good example are Kieldaman's starfighter series, which genuinely look like an extension of the existing series (four sets and counting). Novel new techniques are great, but I appreciate MOCs that would fit right in on my shelf. How about you? What do you think? If anyone has poll suggestions, let me know, I'll pop it in From now on, let me be the guy who needs no accuracy
-
probably not, since successful kamikazers are all dead It could well be just a passing interest in the war, that is over, but still quite heavy in our minds. what exactly is your interest in the great war?
-
Actually, that wasn't what he was saying. He was saying one shouldn't use the name of a SW ship if there's no conscious effort to resemble it. Should this thread be retitled not a BARC speeder? Anyway, you two should consider starting a new thread, something like, "how much accuracy do we need?" where you can get into great detail about the dimensions and details average collectors and MOCers demand in toy replicas of imaginary ships. It would be more mature than hijacking Kiel's thread. That's a non-sarcastic suggestion.
-
You make an interesting point here. Perhaps MOCs that fail to live up to the intense level of accuracy demanded by a handful of SW fans shouldn't be classified as SW MOCs. Maybe they are more fitting in the Space Forum. Furthermore, considering the first few years of SW are so wildly clunky and inaccurate, perhaps KimT should consider removing those from the SW set index. After all, as Fallen Angel has so concretely stated, there's no point calling it SW since they didn't make a conscious effort to replicate those ships. Some food for thought.

-Osaka Butterfly? -Japanese history -the pacific war -American history Is it just a hobby? Or is someone having a hard time forgetting the war?

Great job Kiel. I really think you perfected the BARC Speeder with this one.

I know a little Japanese. If you show me the titles, I'll try to translate for you.

Thanks for the game, I'm sorry for being the elephant in the room, being a Hippo notwithstanding. I had to do a fair amount of soul searching after that, about where that temper came from. I don't think I've been that pissed off since high school. After the earthquake and tsunami happened, I was at a loss. But, I have a job and a family, so you carry on. I'm a teacher, and part of my job is to be smiling and happy everyday there, and tell people everything is okay. At the same time, Western news is panic inducing, and I had a lot of correspondence asking if I was okay which I needed to reply to. On top of that, my parents are still deeply worried about the nuclear situation, and wish I went back to Canada, rather than moved to Hokkaido. So all through that, I had to try to deal with people telling me Helen Hippo was suspicious. My heart wasn't into it at all. I had planned to drop out, but since I played aggressively on day one, I had built up a number of relationships, and it would have been very difficult to transfer them to a replacement player. So I stuck through it. Sorry to throw so much hostility at people, but I can honestly say, "It's not you, it's me." Good luck to those remaining, and I'll kill anyone who revives Helen again -
Sometimes Edgar, you trust your senses. Look through all the communications we've had over the days since my 'death' and try to find something scummy in it. You won't find it. I'll add your name to the list of townies who have been duped.
-
Well, it's Looking a little grim for li'l Helen Hippo. Bad reasoning on supposed townies parts. Kill a definite townie with abilities versus maybe having a crow visit. Total face palm here. I will rest easy knowing that the reasons for voting me are all wrong, while all I have been saying is all right. I have worked tirelessly to illuminate this situation, while being stabbed in the back by supposed allies, and even screwed over by a sloppy and poorly organized God. I predict, when this is all over, a monument in my honor will be erected in the square, so those remaining can look at my smiling face everyday, and feel the weight of these irrational votes, the scummy guilt washing over you, not to mention the humiliation that those demonic scumbags have pulled the wool over your eyes. I will have truly earned my rightful title as Towniest of Town. And I trust those remaining will jab Booker with a pointed stick until he gives a decent explanation... Which there is none. Unless I don't get convicted today, in which case, forget all that.

No worries, the days before were genuine outbursts. What I wrote last night was merely the mafia equivilent of hard journalism No hard feelings intended at all. -
You too Bruno. I hope some of those voting for me are scum, otherwise I'll lose a lot of respect for a lot of people...
-
Good call mindy, you're now an all-star (Peanuts, that's for you )
-
'God' is quite obviously trying to megabluck up his own game in a new way; I won't respect it. Once again, vote: tree stump making up new rules mid-vote is crap. In other words, I am Sparticus! (google is your friend, kids )
-
No, 'God's a megablocking moron, and told me that Edgar also targeted Booker, then a day later, after I'd coordinated my stuff with my 'allies', he told me he'd ducked up and Edgar hadn't targeted him. But he can't verify this, because it will megabluck up the game or something. Not that he didn't megabluck things up 10 minutes ago with that tree stump thing. But, since I am the hippo that I am, I'm not going to bitch at 'God' for weeks after it's over, though it's obvious that he's utterly ducked my role at this point. I trust he'll be kissing my megablocks for a year after this out of sheer guilt. Yeah, wait till it's over. It'll all "make sense."
-
And now I can officially declare megablocks against this game.
-
Since I accused Kendra to at least six living players and a number of dead ones, no, he didn't confess anything to me. The only villager further from me ws Felix. But, I thank you for showing me a loophole in God's law; vote: tree stump Let's teach that tree stump a lesson about overstaying his welcome, while at the same time giving Helen a chance without incurring some 'bonus' to the demon legion. If it was legal, I'd share the PM with you. I have the ability to tell who targeted someone, and I told who targeted Booker (I was debating between following Booker or myself, and went with him, since people were more convinced he's town). I'd tell who they were, but one was Esk, the second a person I'm convinced is town, who I won't reveal for obvious reasons.
-
I am such a neurotic paranoid that I have no issues with a devil's advocate. As for 'God', well he's, as we know by now, deliriously inconsistent, playing dice with the universe, as Einstein said. He informed me along with my night results, and I contacted Booker and his partner first to try to keep this mess under control.

Posting to you here from a tiny hotel room in Osaka. How tiny? When I sit on the toilet, my knee touches the door... and the toilet is pointed diagonally! It's a small damn room! But the food in Osaka is among the best in the country, so it's all good. I won't be staying in Sapporo tomorrow, but I'll be going to Chitose, where there is a Click Brick store, Japan's only Lego franchaise. The wife is being kind since I haven't bought anything (that she knows about) for four months. Oh, marriage is a beautiful thing. -
Yes, I told you I didn't want to deal with it, but if I were scum, I wouldn't automatically send it to Booker, I would just do... Oh, I don't know, but I wouldn't have advised you to share info with him instead of me. As for the investigation results, i've mentioned in a few places, that was that result, God informed me of it. My first question to God was, was I recruited? And his reply was that was the result. So, that is the one legit part of Bookers argument. I don't remember hearing that the demon legion get a gift if there's no conviction, but I'll trust that that has been expressly said somewhere and I missed it. Off topic, about Helen's mental state, Helen's psychotic alter ego been much more settled recently, and though he's not passionate to play games, he's far more fit to take part. Including attacking back at a nasty smear campaign by lard megablocks scum bums from around the world without losing his temper Helen's always been fine, it was that psycho alter ego causing the problems...
-
Cameron, Booker, you guys are ignoring all the solid arguments I made. On day three, I did recommend sending me your info to everyone, since it seemed obvious that I wasn't scum after those results. That wasn't clear to everyone else, and that same day, I recommended sending info to Booker instead. It seems scum does know some town roles, which could well mean they know how to frame me. So, Cameron and booker want to sacrifice one of the few townies left with a night ability to test it. Booker's case against me only has one true fact, that he got a scum reading on me. The rest is 100% wrong. I'll be mostly too busy to counter any false theories by the end of the day, so I'll leave you, my beautiful, fellow townies, with this: Booker has an info leak. That leak may get me lynched. If and when my justice-loving town blood gets spilt, Booker must reveal who he's been spilling things to, or else you'll have to face the unthinkable: that he could have been recruited. This is not a revenge statement, it's been genuinely perplexing how he ignored the flaws in his argument. I appreciate that some of you have not jumped on the lynch bandwagon. Please keep in mind, we're under no obligation to lynch unless God says so. I think it would be better to keep me around, even if scum know my ability, to waste a kill or block from them. And Fugazi, when you sent me your theories and info, did I try to scummily manipulate you into giving me more, and poisoning your logic, or did I townily ask you to forward it to Booker, since that was who I've been trusting the last few days?

The only reason I assumed it was a demon, and not the vig is because I didn't think I had done anything to make a vig take a risk on me. On the contrary, a number of people had already contacted me, saying they assumed I was town, including Benji (though I didn't know he was the vig until after his death).
