Mindstorms NXT 1.0 > 2.0
astra replied to astra's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hmm. ok. Those copies went fast then, I think. I really haven't seen them. Oh well, first I have to collect all of the different parts before I can start worrying about the software -
Mindstorms NXT 1.0 > 2.0
astra replied to astra's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Last weekend I've done some research towards the differences between NXT 1.0 en 2.0. Turns out that a lot of parts are different between the two sets. In fact, the difference is so big that I don't think Lego will bring us an upgrade kit. I've compared the inventory of both sets using Peeron and the difference-list was quite big. (if someone's interested, pm me and I will e-mail a copy) However, I don't think I will buy the 2.0 set. I like 1.0 very much but I can't seem to find the time to do a lot with it, so spending €250 on a set I will hardly use is a bit much. But I'm going to order the parts on Bricklink and do an upgrade from 1.0 to 2.0 myself, using the HiTechnic colorsensor. Now only I have to find someone who is willing to send/sell me the NXT 2.0 software, that's something Bricklink doesn't have 'in stock' (yet?). -
I do hope that that will be done in the (near) future, since a lot of people (including myself) are not living in the vicinity of a Lego store. I occasionally visit one, but order more stuff online on the S@H. Since it is an online system, I can't imagine that that would take a lot of effort? Furthermore, I don't really understand why points should expire. Sure, 24 months is a lot, but still... Now if I only could be able to visit a Lego store in that period...

I received my Winter Toy Shop today! Though it will remain in its packaging until december...

Wow... amazing... I'm not really a Pirates-fan, but this one just might me reconsider...
-
Thanks for the quick review! I already liked the set (and ordered one from S@H) but now even more!

Liebherr L 580
astra replied to M_longer's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Wow! Nicely done I must say! I especially like the 'bulky' rear, that is so close to it's 1:1 scale brother... The details are so good, even in a different colorscheme it would still be recognizable as a Liebherr. -
REVIEW: 8265 Wheel Loader
astra replied to Blakbird's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
yeah... only one... Problem is, the stores that have that sale use that to get you in the store, so that you woudl buy more. But stocks are very low, usually one or two per shop, and they won't restock it when they're sold out. That particular sale started yesterday at 17.00h, when I got there at 17.01 I already had the last one... -

I've bought mine yesterday also for 39,00 euro. Now if I could only find the time to build it... -
Yesterday I've bought the Lego Technic 8265 for only 39 (!) euro...
-
...And I've bought one for that price

TLC is one of the very few companies (in my opinion) that has a very, very good level of service. A lot of companies can really learn something here! You can call, write and e-mail them in your own language, and will receive a reply very fast, in fact I can't give a single other company who has the same high standard. I've called them a couple of times for missing parts in the sets I've bought, usually they would be at my doorstep in a matter of days... My compliments!

Mindstorms NXT 1.0 > 2.0
astra replied to astra's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I don't know... I did contact Lego to ask if they are planning to release some sort of upgrade kit, the customer representative told me that at this moment this is not available (duh..) but that she will give my question to the appropriate department and that they will take a look into this. I do think that the sensor will become available eventually, all the other sensors are also for sale separately. -
I received the Green Grocer and the chrome Storm Trooper today via the mail Ordered it from shop@home last monday and asked normal shipping! That's fast if you ask me... Ground floor is already build, rest will follow this weekend and then I can place it next to my Cafe Corner and Market Street. Finally complete!

Amazing... truly amazing... excellent and something completely different! The details are fabulous and really make the scene come to life!

Even soft toothbrushes are usually to hard... A soft paintbrush however is also a very good idea! Never thought about that, actually... And how much I clean my models? Usually once a month, sometimes I take them apart since I can do the cleaner much more easier then.
-
Really? A toothbrush? I would never ever use one to clean dust of my Lego items. A toothbrush is way to hard, you can easily scratch the Lego parts, even when you're doing it gently... Swiffer dóes work, only you need the brush not those swabs... and rotating the brush when using it also helps dust off the little particles
-
Compressed air is an option, however you have to put the nozzle not to close to your models, or you get very nasty stains from the (very cold) air. Personally I use a swiffer brush, those are very smooth and will swipe the dust right off
-
I also bought it, even though its color scheme is very bright next to CC. But I want the complete layout, so it just has to be part of it

astra replied to SuperCow's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Very good tip, however, DON'T wash items with metal in them, or parts from the Pneumatic system, and items with stickers are also a little bit sensitive to water ;) -
Really? Can't find it in the US Lego Shop @ Home store, nor on the Dutch version... Wasn't the planning the first of September?
-
Yesterda I received my MISB 10190. Very happy with that! Next stop: Green Grocer. Probably next month
-
Very nice to see al these prelimanary designs! I wonder if there are also designs (publicly) available of Technic and Exclusive sets... I mean, did CafeCorner have an interior in the design or not, and was it left out for pricing issues..?

Mindstorms NXT 1.0 > 2.0
astra replied to astra's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Am I really the only one wanted some kind of an upgrade set for 1.0? Or is it simply so that no one knows if it's coming or not...
